Uncommon Mechanism of Mangled Extremity; Three Cases of Rope Entanglement Injury of the Lower Leg
Minsu Noh,Kyu Hyouck Kyoung,Sungjeep Kim,Min-Ae Keum,Seong Ho Choi,Kyounghak Choi,Ji Hoon Kim 대한외상중환자외과학회 2023 Journal of Acute Care Surgery Vol.13 No.1
Rope entanglement injury is a rare entity. Previous reported studies mainly consisted of finger-related injuries. We describe three cases of rope entanglement injury of the lower leg. In the first patient, a belowthe- knee amputation was performed as the primary treatment for unilateral amputated lower limb. In the second patient, a below-the-knee amputation and perineal wound management were simultaneously performed. The third patient had vascular injury combined with internal soft tissue injury without related bone fracture. He suffered serious sequelae from a delay in transfer from a local hospital. Rope entanglement injuries of the lower leg do not present in a consistent manner, and the treatment of accompanying injuries should be considered from an early stage. Care should be taken to ensure that there are no internal injuries missed because the exterior appears to be stable.
Optimal reference view selection algorithm for low complexity disparity estimation
Minsu Choi,Ik Joon Chang,Jinsang Kim IEEE 2016 IEEE transactions on consumer electronics Vol.62 No.1
<P>Multi-view video coding (MVC) is composed of multiple video sequences captured simultaneously by multiple closely spaced cameras. Such a system demands a higher computational complexity due to the increased number of cameras. Disparity estimation (DE) is one of the compression techniques used to remove inter-view redundancy in MVC, which causes high complexity. In order to overcome the problem of high computational complexity in real-time MVC, an optimal reference view selection algorithm is proposed. The proposed scheme decreases the coding complexity by reducing one-directional DE operation and minimizing the decrease in coding performance in MVC.</P>

<P>Charge spreading behavior within a few seconds, referred to as early retention, was comprehensively investigated in 24 word-line stacked tube-type 3D NAND flash memory. We thoroughly explored the charge spreading behavior from the perspectives of both electron and hole spreading in 3D NAND flash memory with different charge trap layer thicknesses at various programming and erasing levels for solid and checkerboard patterns to provide guidelines for minimizing and optimizing the charge spreading.</P>
Interface Engineering of Hematite with Nacre-like Catalytic Multilayers for Solar Water Oxidation
Choi, Yeongkyu,Jeon, Dasom,Choi, Yuri,Kim, Dongseok,Kim, Nayeong,Gu, Minsu,Bae, Sanghyun,Lee, Taemin,Lee, Hyun-Wook,Kim, Byeong-Su,Ryu, Jungki American Chemical Society 2019 ACS NANO Vol.13 No.1
<P>An efficient water oxidation photoanode based on hematite has been designed and fabricated by tailored assembly of graphene oxide (GO) nanosheets and cobalt polyoxometalate (Co-POM) water oxidation catalysts into a nacre-like multilayer architecture on a hematite photoanode. The deposition of catalytic multilayers provides a high photocatalytic efficiency and photoelectrochemical stability to underlying hematite photoanodes. Compared to the bare counterpart, the catalytic multilayer electrode exhibits a significantly higher photocurrent density and large cathodic shift in onset potential (∼369 mV) even at neutral pH conditions due to the improved charge transport and catalytic efficiency from the rational and precise assembly of GO and Co-POM. Unexpectedly, the polymeric base layer deposited prior to the catalytic multilayers improves the performance even more by facilitating the transfer of photogenerated holes for water oxidation through modification of the flat band potential of the underlying photoelectrode. This approach utilizing polymeric base and catalytic multilayers provides an insight into the design of highly efficient photoelectrodes and devices for artificial photosynthesis.</P> [FIG OMISSION]</BR>

Minsu Ko,Jin-Sung Youn,Myung-Jae Lee,Kwang-Chun Choi,Rucker, H.,Woo-Young Choi IEEE 2012 IEEE photonics technology letters Vol.24 No.13
<P>We demonstrated a silicon photonics-wireless interface integrated circuit (IC) realized in 0.25- μ m SiGe bipolar complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor technology, which converts 850-nm optical nonreturn-to-zero data into 60-GHz binary phase-shift keying wireless data. A transmission of 1.6 Gb/s in 60 GHz using the interface IC is successfully demonstrated with the error-free operation achieved at 6-dBm optical input power.</P>
Minsu Choi,Ik Joon Chang,Jinsang Kim IEEE 2013 IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON CIRCUITS AND SYSTEMS FOR VIDE Vol.23 No.8
<P>Multiview video coding (MVC) provides more realistic 3-D scenes adding depth information derived from multiple cameras than single-or stereo-view video coding. In MVC, video frames obtained from each view are simply scheduled to corresponding encoding channels. However, under such a conventional scheduling technique the encoding times of each channel may not be identical, degrading encoding performance. To address this problem, this paper proposes two MVC frame scheduling schemes and their architectures: a hardware resource aware scheduling and a frame waiting time aware scheduling (WTaS). Here, WTaS considers the waiting time of each frame stored in on-chip SRAM during frame scheduling, thereby reducing SRAM size significantly. Experimental results show that the proposed frame scheduling schemes provide 29.4% faster processing time, compared to the conventional counterpart. In addition, we can improve the core area, on-chip SRAM area, and the power dissipation by 26.7%, 23.2%, and 26.6%, respectively.</P>

This study is Antimicrobial activity for bacteriocin produced by Lactobacillus acidophilus. Production of lactacin B was pH dependent, with maximum activity detected in broth cultures maintained pH 6. As a result of the antimicrobial activity against p. acnes in the pH culture, the clear zone was the largest at pH 6 and persisted for a long time.

RCCI (Reactivity Controlled Compression Ignition) is one of combustion technologies which can control reactivity by using the different firing characteristic of gasoline and that of diesel. In this study, numerical investigation for spray characteristics was carried out in RCCI on various gasoline percents and diesel injection timing. Numerical investigation was implemented under conditions with gasoline percents 70%,80%,90% and additional conditions with diesel pilot injection 10%,15%,20% by using AVL-FIRE. As a result, the higher gasoline percent is, the higher evaporation and injection duration and OH emission is. Thus, it can see fast flame propagation because of homogeneous gasoline gas, which is an advantage to accomplish high-efficiency and low emission.
