In this paper, a new displacement field based on quasi-3D hybrid-type higher order shear deformation theory is developed to analyze the static and dynamic response of exponential (E), power-law (P) and sigmoïd (S) functionally graded beams. Novelty of this theory is that involve just three unknowns with including stretching effect, as opposed to four or even greater numbers in other shear and normal deformation theories. It also accounts for a parabolic distribution of the transverse shear stresses across the thickness, and satisfies the zero traction boundary conditions at beams surfaces without introducing a shear correction factor. The beam governing equations and boundary conditions are determined by employing the Hamilton's principle. Navier-type analytical solutions of bending and free vibration analysis are provided for simply supported beams subjected to uniform distribution loads. The effect of the sigmoid, exponent and power-law volume fraction, the thickness stretching and the material length scale parameter on the deflection, stresses and natural frequencies are discussed in tabular and graphical forms. The obtained results are compared with previously published results to verify the performance of this theory. It was clearly shown that this theory is not only accurate and efficient but almost comparable to other higher order shear deformation theories that contain more number of unknowns.
A new higher order shear and normal deformation theory for functionally graded beams
Mustapha Meradjah,Abdelouahed Tounsi,Abdelhakim Kaci,Mohammed Sid Ahmed Houari,S. R. Mahmoud 국제구조공학회 2015 Steel and Composite Structures, An International J Vol.18 No.3
In this scientific work, constructing of a novel shear deformation beam model including the stretching effect is of concern for flexural and free vibration responses of functionally graded beams. The particularity of this model is that, in addition to considering the transverse shear deformation and the stretching effect, the zero transverse shear stress condition on the beam surface is assured without introducing the shear correction parameter. By employing the Hamilton's principle together with the concept of the neutral axe's position for such beams, the equations of motion are obtained. Some examples are performed to demonstrate the effects of changing gradients, thickness stretching, and thickness to length ratios on the bending and vibration of functionally graded beams.

The transverse free vibration of chiral double-walled carbon nanotube (DWCNTs) embedded in elastic medium is modeled by the non-local elasticity theory and Euler Bernoulli beam model. The governing equations are derived and the solutions of frequency are obtained. According to this study, the vibrational mode number, the small-scale coefficient, the Winkler parameter and chirality of double-walled carbon nanotube on the frequency ratio (xN) of the (DWCNTs) are studied and discussed. The new features of the vibration behavior of (DWCNTs) embedded in an elastic medium and the present solutions can be used for the static and dynamic analyses of double-walled carbon nanotubes.

This work investigates the effect of Winkler/Pasternak/Kerr foundation and porosity on dynamic behavior of FG plates using a simple quasi-3D hyperbolic theory. Four different patterns of porosity variations are considered in this study. The used quasi-3D hyperbolic theory is simple and easy to apply because it considers only four-unknown variables to determine the four coupled vibration responses (axial-shear-flexion-stretching). A detailed parametric study is established to evaluate the influences of gradient index, porosity parameter, stiffness of foundation parameters, mode numbers, and geometry on the natural frequencies of imperfect FG plates.

This present article represents the study of the forced vibration of nanobeam of a single-walled carbon nanotube (SWCNTs) surrounded by a polymer matrix. The modeling was done according to the Euler-Bernoulli beam model and with the application of the non-local continuum or elasticity theory. Particulars cases of the local elasticity theory have also been studied for comparison. This model takes into account the different effects of the interaction of the Winkler's type elastic medium with the nanobeam of carbon nanotubes. Then, a study of the influence of the amplitude distribution and the frequency was made by variation of some parameters such as (scale effect ($e_0{^a}$), the dimensional ratio or aspect ratio (L/d), also, bound to the mode number (N) and the effect of the stiffness of elastic medium ($K_w$). The results obtained indicate the dependence of the variation of the amplitude and the frequency with the different parameters of the model, besides they prove the local effect of the stresses.
The critical buckling load of reinforced nanocomposite porous plates
Guessas, Habib,Zidour, Mohamed,Meradjah, Mustapha,Tounsi, Abdelouahed Techno-Press 2018 Structural Engineering and Mechanics, An Int'l Jou Vol.67 No.2
By using the first order shear deformation plate theory (FSDT) in the present paper, the effect of porosity on the buckling behavior of carbon nanotube-reinforced composite porous plates has been investigated analytically. Two types of distributions of uniaxially aligned reinforcement material are utilized which uniformly (UD-CNT) and functionally graded (FG-CNT) of plates. The analytical equations of the model are derived and the exact solutions for critical buckling load of such type's plates are obtained. The convergence of the method is demonstrated and the present solutions are numerically validated by comparison with some available solutions in the literature. The central thesis studied and discussed in this paper is the Influence of Various parameters on the buckling of carbon nanotube-reinforced porous plate such as aspect ratios, volume fraction, types of reinforcement, the degree of porosity and plate thickness. On the question of porosity, this study found that there is a great influence of their variation on the critical buckling load. It is revealed that the critical buckling load decreases as increasing coefficients of porosity.

Belmahi, Samir,Zidour, Mohamed,Meradjah, Mustapha,Bensattalah, Tayeb,Dihaj, Ahmed Techno-Press 2018 Structural Engineering and Mechanics, An Int'l Jou Vol.67 No.5
In this study, we investigate the vibration of single-walled carbon nanotubes embedded in a polymeric matrix using nonlocal elasticity theories with account arbitrary boundary conditions effects. A Winkler type elastic foundation is employed to model the interaction of nanobeam and the surrounding elastic medium. Influence of all parameters such as nonlocal small-scale effects, Winkler modulus parameter, vibration mode and aspect ratio of nanobeam on the vibration frequency are analyzed and discussed. The mechanical properties of carbon nanotubes and polymer matrix are treated and an analytical solution is derived using the governing equations of the nonlocal Euler-Bernoulli beam models. Solutions have been compared with those obtained in the literature and The results obtained show that the non-dimensional natural frequency is significantly affected by the small-scale coefficient, the vibrational mode number and the elastic medium.
