      • Efficient and Robust Drivable Region Extraction for Autonomous Vehicles

        Nowadays, the autonomous vehicle (AV) is investigated actively by the researchers from all over the world. However, many researches are based on expensive equipments, such as Radar, LIDAR and IMU. It makes the autonomous vehicle’s marketization difficult. Thus our paper proposes a lowcost method based on images to obtain the vanishing point of roads and then extract the drivable region. Combining the Hough transform, the approach takes advantage of the image gradient, although from low-resolution images, it can obtain salient features. In addition, the proposed method also can help to detect a single lane line marking. Experiments show the proposed approach can extract drivable region efficiently and stably.

      • 3D SaccadeNet: A Single-Shot 3D Object Detector for LiDAR Point Clouds

        3D object detection is an essential step towards holistic scene understanding. Currently, the existing 3D object detection methods focus on certain object’s areas once and predict the object’s locations. The way does not conform to the habit of human observing targets. Hence, this work proposes a fast and accurate object detector called 3D SaccadeNet, which regards one 3D object as nine keypoints. In the training process, the corner loss, center loss, and classification loss are computed. However, the center is only used to predict a 3D object. Performed experiments on the KITTI dataset show that the proposed method is highly efficient and effective, and the 3D object detection reaches (91:18%; 82:80%; 79:90%).

        PCR-reverse dot blot human papillomavirus genotyping as a primary screening test for cervical cancer in a hospital-based cohort

        Objective: To evaluate the polymerase chain reaction (PCR)-reverse-dot-blot (RDB) human papillomavirus (HPV) genotyping test as a feasible assay for the cervical cancer primary screening. Methods: In a hospital-based cohort, a total of 21,568 women were voluntarily enrolled from March 2009 to November 2016 for evaluating the 3 current cervical cancer screening strategies: co-test, cytology primary and high-risk HPV (HR-HPV) primary by using PCRRDB HPV genotyping and liquid-based cytology (thinprep cytologic test [TCT]). Women with HR-HPV infection and/or abnormal cytology were referred for colposcopy, and the biopsy or conization was performed according to the American Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology (ASCCP) guidelines. Results: Overall, 18.20% (3,935/21,568) of the women were detected as HR-HPVpositive, 5.04% (1,088/21,568) were diagnosed with cervical intraepithelial neoplasia 2 or higher (CIN2+), and 3.43% (739/21,568) with CIN3+. The cumulative incidence rates for CIN2+/CIN3+ in patients with HPV-16/18-positive were 48.28%/37.20%, while they were 0.86%/0.38%, 0.30%/0.15% and 0.18%/0.09% in cytology-negative, HR-HPV-negative and co-test-negative population, respectively. Using CIN2+ and CIN3+ as the observed endpoints, the sensitivity and negative predictive value (NPV) of HR-HPV genotyping as a primary screening tool were 90.99%/99.49% and 91.57%/99.80%. Moreover, using HR-HPV genotyping primary screening could detect the same more CIN2+/CIN3+ cases in baselinedetection as co-testing (990/700 vs. 991/701) and far more than cytology primary screening (903/656, p<0.05). It also achieved the lowest misdiagnosis rate (8.01%/5.02%). Although HPV genotyping primary screening required an increased number of colposcopies (2.75/3.89 per CIN2+/CIN3+ case), it yielded an acceptable rate. Conclusions: The PCR-RDB HPV genotyping test is a cost-effective and beneficial cervical cancer primary screening for hospital-based opportunistic screening.

      • Technical Framework Design of Safety Production Information Management Platform for Chemical Industrial Parks Based on Cloud Computing and the Internet of Things

        As chemical industry is a fundamental strategic sector as well as one pillar industry of our national economy, chemical industrial parks of various scales has been built in many places to facilitate the production of chemical enterprises. However, considering the inflammability, explosibility and toxicity of the raw materials and products of such enterprises, accidents are very likely during the production, transportation and storage, forming major threats to human lives, the environment and property. By making use of key technologies of the Internet of Things such as sensing, accessing and networking, massive information storage, analyzing and processing capabilities of big data technology and the data computing methods of cloud computing technology, this paper designs a safety production information management platform for the daily supervision and emergency rescue of chemical industrial parks, proposes the system communication network framework based on the Internet of Things and the three-layer platform technical framework based on cloud computing, describes the technical structure and function of the sensing layer, the transmission layer, the infrastructure layer, the platform layer and the application layer of the platform, and elaborates key technologies including the design thought of uniform big data analyzing platform, regional collaborative emergency management operating mechanism, the combination of RFID technology and sensor network technology and model design of expert decision-making. The platform can realize logistics management of dangerous articles and key environment parameter monitoring of dangerous chemical enterprises, help enterprises in the safety compliance management to the whole production process, allow red light early warning and start responding early warning mechanism and rescue plan automatically, so as to effectively avoid the occurrence of potential accidents and safeguard and improve the economic and social benefits of enterprises.

        Preparation, characterization and catalytic performance of HPW-TUD-1 catalyst on oxidative desulfurization

        By incorporating H3PW12O40 (HPW) heteropolyacid into mesoporous TUD-1 materials, a series of HPWTUD-1 catalysts were synthesized. Nitrogen adsorption–desorption isotherm, XRD and FTIR characterizations showed that these catalyst exhibited mesoporous structure, and HPW presented in the catalysts with Keggin structure. The catalytic performances of the HPW-TUD-1 catalysts were tested through the oxidative desulfurization (ODS) process of dibenzothiophene (DBT) model oil. The results showed that the obtained 20HPW-TUD-1 catalyst displayed excellent catalytic activity and recover ability for ODS. The desulfurization rate of DBT reached up to 98.1%, and almost no catalytic activity loss was observed after three recycles of the catalyst.

        A novel [Bmim]PW/HMS catalyst with high catalytic performance for the oxidative desulfurization process

        To effectively reduce the sulfur content in model fuel, [Bmim]PW/HMS catalyst was synthesized through impregnating the hexagonal mesoporous silica (HMS) support by phosphotungstic acid (HPW) and ionic liquid [Bmim]HSO4. Physical structure characterizations of the catalysts showed that HMS retained mesoporous structure, and [Bmim]PW was well dispersed on the support of HMS. The catalytic activity of the [Bmim]PW/HMS was evaluated in the oxidative desulfurization process, and the optimal reaction conditions including loading of the catalysts, reaction temperature,catalyst amount, O/S (H2O2/sulfur) molar ratio and agitation speed were investigated. Under the optimal reaction conditions, the conversion of benzothiophene (BT), dibenzothiophene (DBT) and 4, 6-dimethyldibenzothiophene (4,6-DMDBT) could reach 79%, 98%, 88%, respectively.

      • Neuroprotective effects of <i>Alpinia katsumadai</i> against experimental ischemic damage via control of oxidative stress

        <P><I>Context</I>: <I>Alpinia katsumadai</I> (Zingiberaceae) has been identified by the National Plant Quarantine Service in Korea. The extract of <I>Alpinia katsumadai</I> seed (EAKS) has antioxidant activities.</P><P><I>Objective</I>: We investigated the neuroprotective effects of EAKS on ischemic damage in the gerbil hippocampal CA1 region after transient cerebral ischemia.</P><P><I>Materials and methods</I>: The ethanol extract of EAKS was obtained by organic solvent, collected in Kangwon province (South Korea) and orally administered using a feeding needle once a day for one week before transient cerebral ischemia in gerbils.</P><P><I>Result</I>: We adapted oral administration of 25 and 50 mg/kg EAKS because there are no data about the absorption and metabolism of EKAS. We found a significant neuroprotection in the 50 mg/kg EAKS-treated ischemia group, not in the 25 mg/kg EAKS-treated ischemia group, at 4 days ischemia-reperfusion (I-R). In the 50 mg/kg EAKS-treated ischemia group, about 68% of pyramidal neurons in the CA1 region were immunostained with neuronal nuclei (NeuN) 4 days after I-R, compared to the vehicle-treated ischemia group. 8-Hydroxy-2′-deoxyguanosine (a marker for DNA damage) and 4-hydroxy-2-nonenal (a marker for lipid peroxidation) immunoreactivity in the CA1 region of the EAKS-treated ischemia group were not markedly changed compared to the vehicle-treated ischemia group. In addition, Cu,Zn- and Mn-SOD immunoreactivity in the CA1 region of the EAKS-treated ischemia group were increased compared to the vehicle-treated ischemia group.</P><P><I>Discussion</I>: Repeated supplements of EAKS could protect neurons against ischemic damage, showing that DNA damage and lipid peroxidation are attenuated and SODs are increased in the ischemic CA1 region.</P>

        Neuroprotective Effects of <i>Alpinia Katsumadai</i> Against Neuronal Damage in the Gerbil Hippocampus Induced by Transient Cerebral Ischemia

        <P><I>Alpinia katsumadai</I>, one of the family Zingiberaceae, contains chalcone, flavonoids, diarylheptanoids, monoterpenes, sesquiterpenoids, stilbenes, and labdanes. It has been reported that the extract of <I>Alpinia katsumadai</I> seed (EAKS) has antiinflammatory effects, and enhances antioxidant activities. We observed the neuroprotective effects of EAKS against ischemic damage in gerbils received oral administrations of EAKS (50 mg/kg) once a day for 7 days before transient cerebral ischemia. In the EAKS-treated ischemia group, neuronal nuclei (NeuN, a marker for neurons)-immunoreactive pyramidal neurons were abundant (68.3%% of the sham group) in the hippocampal CA1 region (CA1) 4 days after ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) compared to those in the vehicle-treated ischemia group (13.18%%). We also observed that EAKS treatment significantly decreased the activation of astrocytes and microglia in the CA1 compared with the vehicle-treated ischemia group 4 days postischemia. In addition, protein levels of GFAP and Iba-1 in the EAKS-treated ischemia group were much lower than those in the vehicle-treated ischemia group 4 days after I/P. Our findings indicate that the repeated supplements of EAKS could protect neurons from an ischemic damage, showing that glial activation is markedly decreased in the ischemic area.</P>
