      • An Iterative Space Alternative Tiling Parallel Algorithm for 3D Finite Difference Stencil Computations

        Jing Shen,Jilin Zhang,Jian Wan,Li Zhou,Ming Jiang 보안공학연구지원센터 2014 International Journal of Database Theory and Appli Vol.7 No.6

Stencils are finite-difference algorithms for solving large-scale and high-dimension partial differential equations. Due to the data dependences among the iterative statements in Stencils, traditional Stencil computations are be executed serially, rather than in parallel. It’s challenging to design an effective and scalable Stencil parallelized method. To address the issue of 3D data space computing, we present a serial execution model based on multi-layers symmetric Stencil method and time skewing techniques. Within this model, the iteration space is divided to multiple tiles based on time skewing, where the executive process is ordered by the sequence of tiles, and the nodes in each individual tile can be swept repeatedly to improve the data locality. In addition, we propose a novel 3D iterative space alternate tiling Stencil parallel method, which subdivides the iteration space along high dimension, and changes the execution sequence of tiles to reduce the data dependency and communication cost, where the partial order of tiles is still guaranteed. Experimental results demonstrate our proposed alternative tiling parallel method achieves better parallel efficiency and scalability compared with the domain-decomposition methods.

      • QTBiCGSTAB Algorithm for Large Linear Systemand Parallelized

        Xiaomei Xu,Jilin Zhang,Jian Wan,Li Zhou,Ming Jiang 보안공학연구지원센터 2014 International Journal of Grid and Distributed Comp Vol.7 No.6

According to the traditional stabilized biconjugate gradient algorithm (BiCGSTAB) deficiency in data locality, this paper proposed a QTBiCGSTAB algorithm whose core idea is that recursively divides sparse matrix with quarter tree into sub-matrix and reorders them, to improve the hit ratio of cache and enhance the algorithm’s efficiency. And the idea is good for algorithm being parallized, that is proved by the numerical experiments later. It mainly shows, firstly, QTBiCGSTAB algorithm is more efficiency than BiCGSTAB, and the speedup would reach 1:330. The target division length would be influnced on the algorithm’s performance; Secondly, for large linear system, parallized QTBiCGSTAB is more efficiency than serial’s.

Metastasis associated genomic aberrations in stage II rectal cancer

        Hong Zhao,Zhi-Zhou Shi,Rui Jiang,Dong-Bing Zhao,Hai-Tao Zhou,Jian-Wei Liang,Xin-Yu Bi,Jian-Jun Zhao,Zhi-Yu Li,Jian-Guo Zhou,Zhen Huang,Ye-Fan Zhang,Jian Wang,Xin Xu,Yan Cai,Ming-Rong Wang,Yu Zhang 한국유전학회 2016 Genes & Genomics Vol.38 No.11

Genomic aberrations of rectal carcinoma, especially DNA copy number changes associated with metastasis were largely unclear. We aim to identify the metastasis associated biomarkers in stage II rectal cancer. Formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded primary tumor tissues of stage II rectal carcinoma were analyzed by array-based comparative genomic hybridization, and genomic aberrations were identified by Genomic Workbench and SAM software. Copy number changes and mRNA expressions were validated by Real-time PCR in an independent rectal cancer samples. The results showed that the most frequent gains in stage II rectal cancer were at 1q21.2-q23.1, 3p21.31, 11q12.2-q23.3, 12q24.11-q24.31, 12q13.11-q14.1 and losses in 18q11.2-q23, 17q21.33-q22, 13q31.1-q31.3, 21q21.1-q21.3, 8p23.3-p23.1 and 4q22.1-q23. Twenty-two amplifications and five homozygous deletions were also identified. We further found that S100A1 (1q21.3-q23.1), MCM7 (7q22.1) and JUND (19p13.11) were amplified and overexpressed in stage II rectal cancer. Interestingly, the genomic aberrations affected 14 signaling pathways including VEGF signaling pathway and fatty acid metabolism. Most importantly, loss of 13q31.1-q34 and gain of 1q44 were associated with distant metastasis. Our results indicated that these metastasis associated genomic changes may be useful to reveal the pathogenesis of rectal cancer metastasis and identify candidate biomarkers.

A Resonant Characteristics Analysis and Suppression Strategy for Multiple Parallel Grid-connected Inverters with LCL Filter

        Jian-jun Sun,Wei Hu,Hui Zhou,Yi-ming Jiang,Xiao-ming Zha 전력전자학회 2016 JOURNAL OF POWER ELECTRONICS Vol.16 No.4

Multiple parallel inverters have multiple resonant frequencies that are influenced by many factors. This often results in stability and power quality problems. This paper develops a multiple input multiple output model of grid-connected inverter systems using a closed-loop transfer function. The influence factors of the resonant characteristics are analyzed with the developed model. The analysis results show that the resonant frequency is closely related to the number, type and composition ratio of the parallel inverters. To suppress resonance, a scheme based on virtual impedance is presented, where the virtual impedance is emulated in the vicinity of the resonance frequency. The proposed scheme needs one inverter with virtual impedance control, which reduces the design complexity of the other inverter controllers. Simulation and experimental tests are carried out on two single phase converter-based setups. The results validate the correctness of the model, the analytical results and the resonant suppressing scheme.

The Protective Effect of Sodium Hyaluronate on the Cartilage of Rabbit Osteoarthritis by Inhibiting Peroxisome Proliferator-Activated Receptor-Gamma Messenger RNA Expression

        Jian-lin Zhou,Shi-qing Liu,Bo Qiu,Qiong-jie Hu,Jiang-hua Ming,Hao Peng 연세대학교의과대학 2009 Yonsei medical journal Vol.50 No.6

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to study the protective effect and influence of sodium hyaluronate (Na- HA) on mRNA expression of peroxisome proliferators-activated receptor gamma (PPAR-γ) in cartilage of rabbit osteoarthritis (OA) model. Materials and Methods: Forty eight white rabbits were randomly divided into A, B, and C groups. Group A was normal control group, B and C groups underwent unilateral anterior cruciate ligament transection (ACLT). The rabbits in group B were injected normal saline after ACLT; and Group C received intraarticular1% sodium hyaluronate (HA) injection 5 weeks after surgery, 0.3 mL once a week. At 11th week after surgery, all the rabbits were sacrificed. The cartilage changes on the medial femoral condyles were graded separately. Cartilage sections were stained with safranin-O and HE, and messenger RNA (mRNA) expression of PPAR-γ was detected by using real time polymerase chain reaction (Real Time-PCR). Results: Cartilage degeneration in group B was significantly more severe than in A and C injection group. The grey value of Safranin- O of B group was higher than A and C groups. Expression of PPAR-γ mRNA in group B was higher than group A and C. Conclusion: This study shows that Na-HA has a protective effect on articular cartilage degeneration, and the inhibitory effect on the PPAR-γ mRNA expression may be one of therapeutic mechanism of Na-HA. Characteristics of registered studies for Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19): a systematic review

        Ming Yang,Ya-xi Shang,Zi-yu Tian,Min Xiong,Chun-li Lu,Jiang Yue,Zhang Yao,Zhang Ying-ying,Jin Xin-yan,Jin Qiu-bai,Zhang Ying-ying,Willcox Merlin L.,Liu Jian-ping 한국한의학연구원 2020 Integrative Medicine Research Vol.9 No.3

Background: The World Health Organization characterized the Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) as a pandemic on March 11th. Many clinical trials on COVID-19 have been registered, and we aim to review the study characteristics and provide guidance for future trials to avoid duplicated effort. Methods: Studies on COVID-19 registered before March 3rd, 2020 on eight registry platforms worldwide were searched and the data of design, participants, interventions, and outcomes were extracted and analyzed. Results: Three hundred and ninety-three studies were identified and 380 (96.7%) were from mainland China, while 3 in Japan, 3 in France, 2 in the US, and 3 were international collaborative studies. Two hundred and sixty-six (67.7%) aimed at therapeutic effect, others were for prevention, diagnosis, prognosis, etc. Two hundred and two studies (51.4%) were randomized controlled trials. Two third of therapeutic studies tested Western medicines including antiviral drugs (17.7%), stem cell and cord blood therapy (10.2%), chloroquine and derivatives (8.3%), 16 (6.0%) on Chinese medicines, and 73 (27.4%) on integrated therapy of Western and Chinese medicines. Thirty-one studies among 266 therapeutic studies (11.7%) used mortality as primary outcome, while the most designed secondary outcomes were symptoms and signs (47.0%). Half of the studies (45.5%) had not started recruiting till March 3rd. Conclusion: Inappropriate outcome setting, delayed recruitment and insufficient numbers of new cases in China implied many studies may fail to complete. Strategies and protocols of the studies with robust and rapid data sharing are warranted for emergency public health events, helping the timely evidence-based decision-making.

      • Abortions and Breast Cancer Risk in Premenopausal and Postmenopausal Women in Jiangsu Province of China

        Jiang, Ai-Ren,Gao, Chang-Ming,Ding, Jian-Hua,Li, Su-Ping,Liu, Yan-Ting,Cao, Hai-Xia,Wu, Jian-Zhong,Tang, Jin-Hai,Qian, Yun,Tajima, Kazuo Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2012 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.13 No.1

To evaluate the relationship between abortions and risk of breast cancer, we conducted a case-control study with 669 cases and 682 population-based controls in Jiangsu Province of China. A structured questionnaire was used to elicit detailed information. Unconditional logistic regression analysis was performed to calculate odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs). The results have revealed that induced abortion was related to increased risk of breast caner. Premenopausal women who had ${\geq}3$ times of induced abortion were at increased crude OR (2.41, 95%CI: 1.09-5.42) and adjusted-OR (1.55, 95%CI: 1.15-5.68). Postmenopausal women with a previous induced abortion were at increased crude OR (2.04, 95%CI: 1.48-2.81) and adjusted-OR (1.82, 95%CI: 1.30-2.54), and there was a significant increase trend in OR with number of induced abortions (p for trend: 0.0001). Overall, spontaneous abortion did not significantly alter the risk of breast cancer, but postmenopausal women who had history of spontaneous abortion were at increased OR. These results suggested that relationship between breast cancer and abortions may depend on menopausal status and induced abortion may played an important role in the development of breast cancer in Jiangsu' women of China.
