        Comparison of Population Genetic Structure of Two Seashore-Dwelling Animal Species, Periwinkle Littorina brevicula and Acorn Barnacle Fistulobalanus albicostatus from Korea

        The genetic structure of marine animals that inhabit the seashore is affected by numerous factors. Of these, gene flow and natural selection during recruitment have strong influences on the genetic structure of seashore-dwelling species that have larval periods. Relative contributions of these two factors to the genetic structure of marine species would be determined mainly by the duration of larval stage. The relationship between larval period and genetic structure of population has been rarely studied in Korea. In this study, genetic variations of cytochrome oxidase subunit I (COI) were analyzed in two dominant species on rocky shore habitats in the Korean peninsula: periwinkle Littorina brevicula and acorn barnacle Fistulobalanus albicostatus. Both species are not strongly structured and may have experienced recent population expansion. Unlike periwinkle, however, barnacle populations have considerable genetic variation, and show a bimodal pattern of mismatch distribution. These results suggest that barnacle populations are more affected by local adaptation rather than gene flow via larval migration. The bimodal patterns of barnacle populations observed in mismatch distribution plots imply that they may have experienced secondary contact. Further studies on seashore-dwelling species are expected to be useful in understanding the evolution of the coastal ecosystem around Korean waters.

      • 국내 헤어스타일의 연구동향에 대한 계량서지학적 분석

        헤어스타일은 그 시대의 대중 문화적 요소와 사회 관념에 따른 심리적 작용을 반영하고, 미적 욕구에 대한 표출의 상징이라고 할 수 있다. 또한 헤어스타일은 그 사람의 성격, 신분, 성별, 지위까지도 짐작할 수 있으며 인간의 아름다움을 추구하기 위한 수단이라는 중요한 기능을 가지고 있다. 따라서 헤어스타일에 대한 심리적 측면, 디자인적 측면, 기술적 측면 등으로 다양한 연 구가 이루어지고 있다. 이에 따른 연구동향을 탐색하여 미래의 헤어스타일에 대한 학문적 인 연구와 산업적인 흐름을 분석할 수 있을 것으로 기대한다. 이를 위해 본 연구는 계량서지학적(Bibliometric) 방법으로 문헌의 계량적 처리를 통해 객관적이고 정확한 데이터에 의한 학문의 속성 및 연구자의 연구 활동, 학문의 흐름을 통한 헤어스타일의 학문적 속성 및 연구 활동을 수량적으로 규명하는데 연구의 목적이 있다. 계량서지학적 분석에 따른 연구 결과 헤어스타일이 241회, 여성 63회, 이미지 37회, 선호도 31회 순으로 나타났다. 하나의 서명에 동시 출현한 단어가 보여주는 메시지 중 헤어 스타일과 헤어의 공동 출현 빈도수가 291회로 많은 빈도수를 나타냈고 여성과 헤어가 58 회로 나타났으며 이미지와 헤어도 44번의 공동 빈도수를 나타냈다. 주제별 분류는 헤어스타일이 121개이며 헤어디자인이 21개, 메이크업이 15개, 미용 산업 12개 헤어가 11개, 이미지가 10 개 등이 나타났다. 남성과 헤어스타일, 남성과 메이크업도 서로 관계가 깊은 것으로 볼 수 있는데 헤어스타일은 이미지와 상관이 많은 남녀모두의 라이프스타일에 관련이 있으며, 미용 산업에도 많은 영향을 미치는 것으로 보인다. 특이할만한 것은 미용분야는 피부미용분야보다 메이크업과 함께 연구되어온 것으로 볼 수 있었으며 이는 이미지와 관련이 있는 것으로 보인다. Hair style can be to reflect the psychological effects associated with the elements and social notions of popular culture of that period, it is a symbol of expression of aesthetic desire. In addition, Hair style, the person s personality, identity, gender, status can also infer, have an important function as a means for pursuing human beauty. Therefore Hair style psychological aspects, design aspects, various studies including technical aspects have been made. By searching the research trend with this, it has been expected to be able to analyze the commercial flow of academic studies of future hairstyle. Therefore, in this study, through the quantitative treatment of literature in bibliometric methods, research activities of objective and accurate data by the survey attributes and researchers, and academic attributes of the hair style through the flow of the investigation there is a purpose of the study to investigate the research activities quantitatively.Research results of hair style is 241 times based on bibliometric analysis, woman 63 times, image 37 times, it has become a rating 31 times of order. Any hair style of the message indicated by the words that appeared together in a book, co-occurrence frequency of hair showed a lot of frequency of the circuit of 291, women, hair is 58 circuit appeared image and hair also 44 times joint frequency me showed. Theme classification is 121 pieces and hair style, 21 pieces of hair design, makeup is 15, 12 beauty industry, hair eleven, the image was revealed and ten. Men and hair style, even in men and make-up, may be seen as a relationship of each other is deep, hair style, image and many relationship, are related to the life style of both men and women, even more influence on the beauty industry it seems to be giving. It should be specific to the field of cosmetic, folding be viewed as have been studied along with make-up than the field of skin beauty, and is believed to be associated with this image.

        Comparative Study of the Accuracy of At-Point Clinical Frailty Scale and Morse Fall Scale in Identifying High-Risk Fall Patients among Hospitalized Adults

        Background: Falls are a major concern among hospitalized adults, and it is essential to identify high-risk patients to prevent falls. This retrospective cohort study conducted at the Asan Medical Center, Korea, compared the screening abilities of the at-point Clinical Frailty Scale (CFS) and Morse Fall Scale (MFS) to identify patients at high risk for falls among hospitalized adults. Methods: We assessed the records of at-point CFS, MFS, and fall incidence during hospitalization of 2,028 patients aged 18 or older included in this study. We calculated the sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value (PPV), negative predictive value (NPV), and area under the curve (AUC) for each tool. Results: Twenty-five patients (1.23%) experienced falls during hospitalization. The mean at-point CFS score was significantly higher in those with falls than in those without falls. The mean MFS score did not differ significantly between the two groups. The optimal cutoff points for the at-point CFS and MFS scores were 5 and 45, respectively. At these cutoffs, the at-point CFS demonstrated a sensitivity of 76.0%, specificity of 54.0%, PPV of 2.0%, and NPV of 99.4%, whereas the MFS demonstrated a sensitivity of 60.0%, specificity of 68.1%, PPV of 2.2%, and NPV of 99.4%. The AUC values for the at-point CFS and MFS were 0.68 and 0.63, respectively, with no significant difference (p=0.31). Conclusion: The at-point CFS is a valid screening tool for assessing fall risk in hospitalized adults, as it effectively identifies fall risk with a performance similar to that of the MFS.
