Black gram [Vigna mungo (L.) Hepper] is an important legume crop in Asia, where it is a major source of dietary protein for its predominantly vegetarian population. Molecular breeding programme in this crop has made little progress due to lack of genomic resources. It largely depends on the sequence information available in the closely related taxa. Ninety-six cowpea derived unigene-SSR markers were tested for their cross species amplification in black gram. Forty-nine unigene-SSR primers showed cross species amplification and diversity among 42 black gram accessions were studied. Each unigene-SSR marker detected two to five alleles and 49 SSR primers collectively amplified 119 alleles in black gram with an average of 2.4 alleles/locus. The polymorphic information content (PIC) of the unigene-SSR markers ranged from 0.05 to 0.72 with an average of 0.41. Cluster analysis based on neighbor-joining method grouped the 42 accessions into three major clusters. The genetic closeness among the cultivars can be explained by the high degree of commonness in their pedigree. These unigene-SSR markers were also successful in detecting variation among 15 gamma ray induced mutants of black gram included in the present investigation. Functional categorization of these unigene-SSR markers corresponded to many genes with biological, cellular and molecular functions, and hence offers an opportunity to investigate the consequences of SSR polymorphism on gene functions and serves as valuable resource for black gram genetic analysis.
Does the Judicature of India Perplex the Labour Community?
G. Jegadeesan 한국고용노사관계학회 2004 産業關係硏究 Vol.14 No.1
This paper attempts at the examination of Various Dimension of Industrial disputes in India in general and in particular an evaluation of the role of the Tamil Nadu Government; one of the States of India, in maintaining industrial relations on the mater of strike resorted by its own employees working in Government Departments and educational Institutions. Consequent to the strike, a humble attempt is made to appraise the Supreme Court verdict on the right to strike and its legal, political and economical implications on the entire community of labour. For this paper seeks to provide a fairly detailed account on the role of trade unions in India in a bid to restore their right

In this paper, a high resolution magnetic measurements are performed in an AES (advanced encryption standard) cryptographic FPGA by using a newly designed magnetic probe. The probe consists of high resolution scanning system and magnetic field collecting coil integrated with 3-stage low noise amplifier to enhance the sensed voltage. Also, to improve the performance of the magnetic coil, the Si-substrate is removed under the coil by using FIB process. The results and discussion section clearly shows that, the proposed magnetic probe gives more detailed information about the susceptible area of an AES cryptographic FPGA surface with high resolution maps in different frequency bands compared with the existing magnetic probe.
Is Right to Strike Sacrosanct and not Subject to Judicial Interpretation?
G. Jegadeesan 한국고용노사관계학회 2006 産業關係硏究 Vol.16 No.1
General strike ‘no doubt’ disturbs normal functions of the administration and causes suffering to the common people, but instead of giving strictures to the Government concerned, which creates conditions compelling the employees to go for strike, to take away the hard owned fundamental rights of the employees itself is a gross injustice. The recent Supreme Court's judgment is having serious implications on the entire trade union movement in India. It is in this context that this paper attempts to study in brief the aspects of direct actions and labour legislation. It also analyses the position of trade unions and their responsibilities to assert their right to strike in the wake of the peremptory actions of the Tamil Nadu Government and the recent Supreme Court verdict denying the basic right of workers.
Design of a Polarization Splitter Based on a Dual-core Hexagonal-shaped Photonic Crystal Fiber
Subramani Jegadeesan,Muneeswaran Dhamodaran,Maria Azees,Arunachalam Murugan 한국광학회 2019 Current Optics and Photonics Vol.3 No.4
In this paper, a microstructured, hexagonal-shaped dual-core photonic crystal fiber (PCF) is proposed. The proposed structure has specific optical properties to obtain high birefringence and short coupling length, for different values of structural parameters varied over a wide range of wavelength. The properties are analyzed using a solid core of silica material. The proposed structure is implemented as a polarization splitter with splitting length of 1.9 mm and a splitting ratio of -34.988 dB, at a wavelength of 1550 nm. The obtained bandwidth in one band gap of about 81 nm. The numerical analysis ensures that the performance of the proposed polarization splitter is better than that of existing ones.

Hot staking is the preferred process for conductor-commutator joints in the DC motor armatures as it is versatile and cost effective. Buthowever its application is limited by the peak failure load of the joint which depends only on the mechanical contact as there is no amalgamationor diffusion of metals in the faying surface. This study investigates the mechanical joint strength and found its variation has apositional pattern which is significantly related to similar pattern in electrode heat. A hypothesis for the similarity is reasoned and validated, which enabled evolution of a feasible solution to have differential input of energy compensating the variation in heat. This resultedin overcoming the limitation of joint strength in introduction of hot staked armatures to new applications. The use of Shainin clue generatingtool, Relations diagram and visualizing the physical mechanism complemented the problem solving approach in causal clue exploration, hypothesis reasoning and solution development.
Helicobactericidal Activity of Cissus quadrangularis L. Variant I
Anoop Austin,Jegadeesan. M.,Gowrishankar. R. 한국생약학회 2004 Natural Product Sciences Vol.10 No.5
Cissus quadrangularis L. variant I (Family: Vitaceae), the common variant with square stem is widely used for peptic ulcer disorders (PUD) in traditional medicine. Aerial parts were collected during flowering and vegetative seasons and analysed. Aqueous (hot and cold) and solvent extracts (acetone, chloroform and ethanol) were screened for their anti-Helicobacter pylori (Hp) activities. Among them chloroform extract was observed to recover bioactive principles markedly with low minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC) and minimal lethal concentration (MLC). MIC was 30 μg in both samples and MLC was 35 μg for vegetative and 30 μg for flowering seasons, respectively. Extracts from samples collected during flowering season were better than thse of vegetative season.

Diarun plus, a polyherbal formulation containing herbal ingredients of folkloric Antidiabetic effect, was investigated for its effect on glycemic status in rats and mice. In contrast to conventional chemical induced diabetic animal models, changes in glycemic states were induced by physiological maneuvers. Results revealed that in euglycemic animals Diarun plus elicited little change (-10 to +10%), which was insignificant. In food deprivation/swim exercise induced hypoglycemia, Diarun plus reduced the degree of hypoglycemia in both rats and mice (from 38% to 27% in rats and 45% to 32% in mice). Similarly, the marked hyperglycemia induced by dextrose (70% in rats and 95% in mice) was reduced markedly to 8% and 25% respectively. The findings of the present study suggests that the ingredients of Diarun plus have the unique property of maintaining near euglycemic state irrespective of the altered glycemic state, and that have no significant effect in euglycemic condition.
