Kim, JoHoon,Lee, JaeMyun,Park, YeGun,Ann, SeoungWon,Baik, JungAe The Korean Environmental Sciences Society 2021 한국환경과학회지 Vol.30 No.10
This study characterizes the volatile aromatic and metabolite components of domestic native Apocynum lancifolium blossom. The accurate characterization of fragrances collected from the blossom was carried out using gas chromatography-mass. A total of 70 chemical components were identified, including ketones of acetophenone (29.22%), phenylethyl alcohol (10.54%), methyl-benzenemethanol (8.43%), benzyl alcohol (7.97%), natural bicyclic sesquiterpene types of caryophyllene (6.08%), gurjunene (6.20%), humulene (1.90%), and ocimene (1.04%). Overall, the content of ketones, alcohols, and terpenes was higher than that of others. The major metabolite components were pentanoic acid, malic acid, fructofuranoside, quinic acid, tagatose, sorbose, galactose, inositol, galactaric acid, glucopyranoside, and octadecenoic acid.

In this paper, we proposed a new local micro pattern, Signed Local Directional Pattern(SLDP). SLDP uses information of edges to represent the face’s texture. This can produce a more discriminating and efficient code than other state-of-the-art methods. Each micro pattern of SLDP is encoded by sign and its major directions in which maximum edge responses exist―which allows it to distinguish among similar edge patterns that have different intensity transitions. In this paper, we divide the face image into several regions, each of which is used to calculate the distributions of the SLDP codes. Each distribution represents features of the region and these features are concatenated into a feature vector. We carried out facial expression recognition with feature vectors and SVM(Support Vector Machine) on Cohn-Kanade and JAFFE databases. SLDP shows better classification accuracy than other existing methods.
Background Modeling Through Statistical Edge-Segment Distributions
Ramirez Rivera, Adin,Murshed, Mahbub,Jaemyun Kim,Oksam Chae IEEE 2013 IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON CIRCUITS AND SYSTEMS FOR VIDE Vol.23 No.8

Background modeling is challenging due to background dynamism. Most background modeling methods fail in the presence of intensity changes, because the model cannot handle sudden changes. A solution to this problem is to use intensity-robust features. Despite the changes of an edge's shape and position among frames, edges are less sensitive than a pixel's intensity to illumination changes. Furthermore, background models in the presence of moving objects produce ghosts in the detected output, because high quality models require ideal backgrounds. In this paper, we propose a robust statistical edge-segment-based method for background modeling of non-ideal sequences. The proposed method learns the structure of the scene using the edges' behaviors through the use of kernel-density distributions. Moreover, it uses segment features to overcome the shape and position variations of the edges. Hence, the use of segments gives us local information of the scene, and that helps us to predict the objects and background precisely. Furthermore, we accumulate segments to build edge distributions, which allow us to perform unconstrained training and to overcome the ghost effect. In addition, the proposed method uses adaptive thresholding (in the segments) to detect the moving objects. Therefore, this approach increases the accuracy over previous methods, which use fixed thresholds.

The video-based system of the broadcasters and the video-related institutions have shifted from analogical to digital in worldwide. This migration process can generate a defect, digital dropout, in the quality of the contents. Moreover, there are limited researches focused on these kind of defects and those related have limitations. For that reason, we are proposing a new method for feature extraction emphasizing in the peculiar block pattern of digital dropout based on discrete cosine transform (DCT). For classification of error block, we utilize support vector machine (SVM) which can manage feature vectors efficiently. Further, the proposed method overcome the limitation of the previous one using continuity of frame by frame. It is using only the information of a single frame and works better even in the presence of fast moving objects, without the necessity of specific model or parameter estimation. Therefore, this approach is capable of detecting digital dropout only with minimal complexity.
