        구연산을 첨가한 오디 설기떡의 품질 특성

        This study was carried out to investigate the characteristics of mulberry fruit seolgidduk. Four percent additions of mulberry were evaluated as the most suitable concentration for seolgidduk, in order to improve the color of gum metal gray and sour smell. Therefore, in order to improve the preference, citric acid was added. The acidity of mulberry fruit seolgidduk increased and its pH decreased significantly by increasing amount of citric acid. The moisture content of mulberry fruit seolgidduk showed no significant difference between the groups with added citric acid and the control of group. The L value decreased as the citric acid concentration increased. Color a and b (Ed-define 'a' and 'b') values increased significantly by increasing the amount of citric acid. The hardness, cohesiveness, springiness, gumminess and brittleness decreased as the citric acid was added. From the sensory evaluation, mulberry fruit seolgidduk with 0.01% citric acid added was the most preferred in taste, chewiness and overall acceptability. These results indicated that mulberry fruit seologidduk with 0.01% citric acid added showed the best quality.

        재해성 요추 추간판 탈출증의 역학 및 임상적 연구 : 비재해성 추간판 탈출증과 비교분석

        Objectives : The purpose of study was to define the clinical and epidemiological factors of HNP and to provide the meaningful sources for establishing a prognosis and a rationale for clinical management of occupational low back problem. Methods : This study was performed at eight branch hospitals of Catholic University of Korea and several governmental hospitals for occupational disorders around the Kyunggi province of Korea since Jan. 1985. We analyzed the several factors about lumbar HNP through comparative study of the hospital admission series of each 200 patients in both occupation- and nonoccupation related, subjected to epidemiologic and clinical investigation, respectively. Results : 1. Mean age of occupational HNP was younger (30.9±8.8) than non-occupational HNP (35.2±10.5) (p〈0.05). 2. The duration of clinical symptom before admission was longer in non-occupational HNP(19.9±22.8 Mo.) than in occupational HNP(6.9±12.4 Mo.) (p〈0.05). 3. The symptomatic attack before admission was more frequent in non-occupational HNP(3.7±1.9) than in occupational HNP(2.5±0.9) (p(0.05) 4. There were no significant differences in physical findings between two groups, except for low rate (63%) of straight leg raising test (SLR) limitation in occupational HNP compared to non-occupational HNP(83%) (p〈0.05). 5. Even though The main reason for operative intervention was a failure of conservative treatment in both groups (p〈0.05), extruded subligamentous type was predominant(50%) in occupational HNP (p〈0.05), whereas extruded transligamentous type occupied major portion (67.8%) in non-occupational HNP (p〈0.05). Conclusion : The clinical results were poor in occupational HNP in both conservative and operative management groups, compared to non-occupational HNP (p〈0.05) and mean durations admission and re-admission rate was higher in occupational HNP, compared to non-occupational HNP (p〈0.05).

      • Heterologous plasmid DNA 의 transformation에 있어서의 細胞膜 蛋白質의 기능에 對하여

        Terramycin resistance plasmid DNA and Streptomycin resistance plasmid DNA have been prepared from Streptomyces rimosus and E. coli KPM 105, respectively, by phenol extraction of lysozyme-lysed cells. And the plasmid DNA was introduced into B. subtilis KPM 73, B. subtilis BD 224, B. subtilis 110, B. subtilis RM 125, B. amyloliquef aciens and B. megaterium IAM B425 by transformation. The variable characters affecting heterologous plasmid transformation, and the functions of competence factor and binding factor existing in the recipient cell surface were futhermore studied. Terramycin resistance plasmid was well transformed into Bacillus subtilis KPM 73 and B. subtilis RM 125, and Streptomycin resistance plasmid was well transfomed into B. subtilis BD 224, B. subtilis 110 and B. megaterium IAM B 425 at high frequency. The high frequency of plasmid transformation was obtained at 4 hr of incubationin growth medium. 20 to 50 min in competence medium, and the optimal pH and temperature for competence were 7.0 and 20C to 30C, respectively. The transformation of B. subtilis KPM 73 reached a maximum level after 20 min of exposure to DNA, B. subtilis BD 224 after 30min, and B. subtilis RM 125 after 10 min. Ca, Cu, Fe, Mg and Mn ions increased the transformation frequency of B. subtilis KPM 73 but Hg, Zn and Co ions decreased the transformation frequency. Ca ions were required for transformation of E. coli C600 and tranrsformation frequency was increased 20 times by addition of 75mM CaCl_2. The competence development of recipient cell was enhanced by addition of lysozyme in the competence medium and lysozyme was more affective in the early stage of competence development than the late stage of competence development, in which the spontaneous competence development reached maximum level. In sight of these observations, competence factor would seem to be a kind of cell wall lytic enzyme such as lysozyme. when the protoplasts of B. subtilis KPM 73 were transformed by terramycin resistance plasmid, the protoplasts were successfully transformed and the transformation frequency was 10^-2. The competent cells were treated with small amount of protein-digesting enzyme such as trypsin, and then exposed to transforming plasmid DNA. The recipient cells that were treated with trypsin were transformed 10 to 100 folds lower than non-trypsin-treated control cells. These results show that the binding factor must be a protein or at least a complex containing protein that is essential to it's activity. And external protein such as bovine albumin was effective on transformation of trypsin treated cell, suggesting that the cell surface-located binding factor did not have a specificity and the binding factor could be replaced by external substance such as bovine albumin. Terramycin resistance plasmid extracted from Ter^R transformant of B. subtilis KPM 73 was well transformed into B. subtilis KPM 73. And the electrophorsis pattern of Ter^R plasmid extracted from Ter^R transformant of B. subtilis KPM 73 was equal to that from St. rimosus.

      • The Effects of Mulberry Fruit on the Antioxidative Defense Systems and Oxidative Stress in the Erythrocytes of Streptozotocin-Induced Diabetic Rats

        The current study examined the effects of mulberry fruit on the antioxidative defense systems and oxidative stress in the erythrocytes of diabetes-induced rats. Sprague-Dawley male rats were randomly assigned to one normal and three streptozotocin (STZ)-induced diabetic groups. 1be diabetic groups were fed a mulberry fruit-free diet (DM-group), 0.3% mulberry fruit diet (DM-F group) or 0.6% mulberry fruit diet (DM-2F group). Diabetes was induced with STZ after three weeks of the experimental diets. 1be rats were sacrificed 9 days later for examination of the antioxidative defense systems and oxidative stress in the erythrocytes. Means of cy-3-Ο-glucopyranoside, cy-3-Ο-rutinoside, rutin, isoquercitrin, quercetin, morin and dehydroquercetin contents were 230.45, 131.5, 142.5, 10.3, 5.8, 1.6 and 3.83mg per l00g dry weight, respectively, in the mulberry fruit. Mulberry fruit strengthened the antioxidative defense systems through increased activity of the antioxidant enzymes, such as glutathione peroxidase (GSH-px) and catalase (CAT), in the erythrocytes of the diabetes-induced rats. Accrdingly, mulberry fruit was found to reduce the accumulation of thiobarbituric acid reactive substance (WARS). Therefore, mulberry fruit was found to be excellent for strengthening the antioxidative defense system and reducing damaging oxidative substances in the erythrocytes of the diabetes-induced rats.

        부인암에 있어서 131I-Hippuran Renogram,131I-Hippuran 뇨배설율 및 정맥성 신우상의 비교 관찰

        부인암 61예 (자궁경암 58예, 기타 3예)에서 (131)^I-hippuran renogram, IVP 및 131I-hippuran 배설율을 비교관찰하여 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 1) 정상정맥성 신우상 (IVP)을 보여준 40예의 자궁경암환자중 7예 (17.5%)에서 일측 혹은 양측 renogram상 배설지연소견을 보였고, 반대로 정상 renogram을 보여주었던 35예의 자궁경암환자중 2예 (5.7%)에서는, 정맥성 신우상 (IVP)에 경한 caliectatic 변화를 인지하였다. 2) Renogram상 일측 혹은 양측에 배설지연형소견이 있었던 군에서는 처음 20분간의 (131)^I-hippuran 배설이 감소되었으나 60분이내에 대상되었었다. 3) 일측 renogram이 무기능형이고 타측 renogram이 정상인 군에 있어서는 (131)^I-hippuran 배설율은 정상과 차이가 없었다. 4) (131)^I-hippuran renogram은 X-선학적인 정맥성 신우촬영술과 마찬가지로 폐색성 비뇨기계 질환의 검사에 있어서 중요한 검사방법일 뿐만 아니라 환자에게 부담을 주지 않고 용이하게 검사할 수 있는 장점이 있으며 자궁경암의 침범범위가 확대됨에 따라서 보다 심한 renogram상의 요류 장애상을 볼 수 있었고 일측이 무기능형의 renogram을 보일지라도 타측이 정상이면 131I-hippuran 배설율을 대상함을 보았 A comparative study of (131)^I-hippuran renogram, (131)^I-hippuran excretion test and intravenous pyelogram were performed in 61 cases of gynecological cancer. The following were the results: 1) Among 40 cases of cervix cancer showing normal excretory urography 7 cases (17.5%) were found to have unilateral or bilateral delayed excretory pattern on (131)^I-hippuran renogram and on the contrary only 2 cases (5.7%) showed a mild caliectatic change on excretory urography among 35 cases of gynecological cancer showing normal pattern of (131)^I-hippuran renogram. 2) In the group showing unilateral of bilateral delayed excretory pattern of (131)^I-hippuran renogram there was a reduction of (131)^I-hippuran excretion in the first 20 minutes, but there was no significant difference of 131I-hippuran excretion in 60 minutes compared with that of normal renogram group. 3) In the group showing unilateral non-functioning pattern of (131)^I-hippuran renogram in one side and normal pattern in the other side there was found to be no difference in (131)^I-hippuran excretion amount compared with that of normal renogram group. 4) It was evident from these experimental study that (131)^I-hippuran renogram was considered as a good examination method for the evaluation of obstructive uropathy, and if one side kidney was intact it might compensate for the other diseased kidney so far as to renal excretory function. It was also shown that the more severe the cancerous spread in the pelvic wall the more changes on (131)^I-hippuran renogram.
