      • A Supportable Format for Attribute Based Encryption in Cloud Computing

George,Salu 한국유통과학회 2019 KODISA ICBE (International Conference on Business Vol.2019 No.-

Cloud Computing is used for enabling convenient, on-demand network to access shared pool of configurable computing resources (e.g. Networks, servers, storage, applications, and services) which are rapidly provisioned and released with management effort or service provider interaction. Cloud technology allows for much more efficient computing by centralizing storage, memory, processing and bandwidth. The security is the major issue in the cloud computing. The issue is overcome by the encryption. The various encryption standards ensure the cloud security. Attribute-based encryption (ABE) is a vision of public key encryption that allows users to encrypt and decrypt messages based on user attributes. In a typical implementation, the size of the cipher text is proportional to the number of attributes associated with it and the decryption time is proportional to the number of attributes used during decryption To reduce the decryption time in outsourced encryption method the user provides a transformation key to the cloud to translate any ABE cipher text into simple cipher text and it only incurs a small computational overhead for the user to recover the plaintext from the transformed cipher text. The proposed system introduces the Verifiable Outsourced Encryption so that the user can check the correctness of the transformation performed by the cloud server and the user let to know the data is not modified by the untrusted servers.

      • Diverse Nation, Diverse Curriculum: Multicultural Education in Canada’s Public Schools

        George H. Richardson(George H. Richardson ),Saearm Yi(Saearm Yi),Monica Chahal(Monica Chahal ) 한국캐나다학회 2016 Asia-Pacific Journal of Canadian Studies (APJCS) Vol.22 No.1

Multicultural education has been an integral component of Canadian public education for more than 40 years. As might be expected with any element of public education that is more than 4 decades old, the nature and intent of multicultural education in Canada has evolved over time and has become a mirror of the changing ways in which Canada has imagined its increasingly diverse population and its national identity, In this paper, we examine multicultural education in three particular aspects. First, we describe the social and political context of multiculturalism in Canada. Second, we focus on multicultural education in provincial curriculum with special emphasis on the province of Alberta, and finally, we take up the more recent shift in multicultural education that suggests that the discipline can be viewed as a form of citizenship education. In our conclusion we touch briefly on education in Korea to return to the idea that national contexts have a significant influence on the ways in which multicultural education is understood and delivered.

The effect of accidental eccentricities on the inelastic torsional response of buildings

George K. Georgoussis,Anna Mamou 국제구조공학회 2020 Structural Engineering and Mechanics, An Int'l Jou Vol.75 No.2

This paper investigates the influence of spatial varations of accidental mass eccentricities on the torsional response of inelastic multistorey reinforced concrete buildings. It complements recent studies on the elastic response of structural buildings and extends the investigation into the inelastic range, with the aim of providing guidelines for minimising the torsional response of structural buildings. Four spatial mass eccentricity configurations of common nine story buildings, along with their reversed mass eccentricities subjected to the Erzincan-1992 and Kobe-1995 ground motions were investigated, and the results are discussed in the context of the structural response of the no eccentricity models. It is demonstrated that when the initial linear response is practically translational, it is maintained into the inelastic phase of deformation as long as the strength assignment of the lateral resisting bents is based on a planar static analysis where the applied lateral loads simulate the first mode of vibration of the uncoupled structure.

Cyanosilylation of Carbonyl Compounds Catalyzed by Potassium L-Aspartate

George, Soney C.,Kim, Sung-Soo,Kim, Ho-Sub Korean Chemical Society 2007 Bulletin of the Korean Chemical Society Vol.28 No.12

Potassium L-aspartate has been used as a catalyst for the cyanosilylation of carbonyl compounds producing corresponding cyanohydrin trimethylsilyl ethers in excellent yield of up to 98%. Although the catalyst is chiral, the enantioselectivities observed are generally poor except for one case, α-naphthaldehyde, 89% ee.

Synthesis and Magnetic Properties of Dendron Capped Fe2O3 Nanoparticles

George, Sheby M.,Hong, In-Seok,Kim, Jin-Kwon Korean Chemical Society 2008 Bulletin of the Korean Chemical Society Vol.29 No.8

Using a one-pot reaction technique, monodisperse $\gamma-Fe_2O_3$ nanoparticles were prepared by thermal decomposition of Fe$(CO)_5$ in the presence of a long alkyl chain terminated dendron surfactant. The size of the particles is controlled by adjusting the concentration of the dendron ligands in the reaction solution. Spherical, 2 nm sized nanoparticles were obtained with a 3:1 ratio of dendrons to Fe$(CO)_5$, while 4.6 nm sized particles were formed with a 1:3 ratio. Superparamagetic properties of 2 nm, 4 nm, and 4.6 nm sized particles were measured using a SQUID magnetometer.

The Disclosure-Culture Model:Is Investor Protection Relevant in the Banking Industry?

        George Hooi 한국회계정보학회 2012 회계정보연구 Vol.30 No.1

This paper investigates the significance of investor protection to Hooi’s (2007) banking disclosure-culture model. Seventeen developed and developing countries with a representative sample of 37 listed domestic commercial banks were examined in 2004. A significant finding for national culture is that individualism not uncertainty avoidance has been found as the primary cultural dimension for banking disclosures. Investor protection is found to improve the banking disclosure-culture model in terms of common law and anti-director rights.

Synthesis and Photoinduced Magnetic Properties of a Mn12 Single Molecule Magnet by the cis-trans Isomerism of Azobenzene

George, Sheby M.,Kim, Jin-Kwon Korean Chemical Society 2009 Bulletin of the Korean Chemical Society Vol.30 No.5

[$Mn_{12}O_{12}(azo-L)_{16}(H_2O)_4$] (1), a new Mn12 single molecule magnet containing a photochromic azobenzene ligand, has been successfully synthesized by substitution of acetate ligand of Mn12 with 6-[4-{4-hexyloxyphenyl( azo)}-phenoxy]hexanoic-1-acid. The reversible photoisomerization of the azobenzene group was confirmed by UV-visible absorption spectroscopy. The temperature and field dependence of dc susceptibility and the temperature and the frequency dependence of ac susceptibility were measured for the cis and the trans isomer of 1. The magnetization value of the cis isomer in dc measurement is higher than that of the trans isomer. The cis isomer of 1 has a slower relaxation because cis-trans photoisomerization of the azobenzene group in peripheral ligands induces changes in its structure and dipole moment.

      • Synthesis of new heteroleptic strontium complexes

        George, Sheby Mary,Kim, Hyo-Suk,Lah, Myoung Soo,Park, Bo Keun,Kim, Chang Gyoun,Chung, Taek-Mo The Royal Society of Chemistry 2014 Dalton Transactions Vol.43 No.38

<P>A series of heteroleptic strontium complexes (<B>1–9</B>) using a combination of different aminoalkoxides and 2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-3,5-heptanedionate (tmhd) were prepared to examine the effect of the bulkiness and coordination ability of the aminoalkoxide ligand in these complexes as well as potential strontium precursors. All complexes were characterized by FT-IR, FT-NMR, elemental analyses, and thermo-gravimetric (TG) analyses. The crystal structure analyses of <B>1</B>, <B>2</B>, <B>4</B>, and <B>5</B> demonstrate their stability in the dimer form and the unwillingness of the strontium atom to form more than six coordination bonds in these complexes. The complex <B>5</B> shows an unusual picture: the existence of one hexa-coordinated and one penta-coordinated strontium atom side by side in its dimer structure. The introduction of ether groups as coordination sites in complexes <B>6–9</B> led to a decrease in steric hindrance which resulted in the formation of the complex <B>7</B> as a tetramer. The complex <B>7</B> shows a unique Sr4O4 cubane core where oxygen atoms undergo μ3-bridging between strontium atoms. The TG analyses show that the complexes exhibit a step-wise decomposition character, with the major mass losses in the region 150–400 °C.</P> <P>Graphic Abstract</P><P>Synthesis of heteroleptic strontium complexes containing aminoalkoxide and β-diketonate ligands was demonstrated. <IMG SRC='http://pubs.rsc.org/services/images/RSCpubs.ePlatform.Service.FreeContent.ImageService.svc/ImageService/image/GA?id=c4dt00689e'> </P>

      • Japanese History, Post-Japan

George Lazopoulos 고려대학교 민족문화연구원 2014 Cross-Currents Vol.- No.10

The three recent works on Japanese history discussed in this essay are connected only tenuously in terms of their subject matter: the construction of the category of “religion,” Buddhism in colonial Korea, and the evolution of liberalism in prewar Japan, respectively. What unites these studies is, rather, their approach. Highlighting the vital links between their subjects and other areas of the world, these studies yield a composite portrait of Japan as viewed through the transnational lens that now characterizes historical studies more generally...
