Grid-Connected Dual Stator-Winding Induction Generator Wind Power System for Wide Wind Speed Ranges
Shi, Kai,Xu, Peifeng,Wan, Zengqiang,Bu, Feifei,Fang, Zhiming,Liu, Rongke,Zhao, Dean The Korean Institute of Power Electronics 2016 JOURNAL OF POWER ELECTRONICS Vol.16 No.4
This paper presents a grid-connected dual stator-winding induction generator (DWIG) wind power system suitable for wide wind speed ranges. The parallel connection via a unidirectional diode between dc buses of both stator-winding sides is employed in this DWIG system, which can output a high dc voltage over wide wind speed ranges. Grid-connected inverters (GCIs) do not require booster converters; hence, the efficiency of wind energy utilization increases, and the hardware topology and control strategy of GCIs are simplified. In view of the particularities of the parallel topology and the adopted generator control strategy, we propose a novel excitation-capacitor optimization solution to reduce the volume and weight of the static excitation controller. When this excitation-capacitor optimization is carried out, the maximum power tracking problem is also considered. All the problems are resolved with the combined control of the DWIG and GCI. Experimental results on the platform of a 37 kW/600 V prototype show that the proposed DWIG wind power system can output a constant dc voltage over wide rotor speed ranges for grid-connected operations and that the proposed excitation optimization scheme is effective.

This paper presents the control and implementation of the dual-stator-winding induction generator for variable frequency AC (VFAC) generating system. This generator has two sets of stator windings embedded into the stator slots. The power winding produces the VFAC power to feed the loads, and the control winding is connected to the static excitation controller to control the generator for output voltage regulation with speed and load variations. On the basis of the idea of power balance, an instantaneous slip frequency control (ISFC) strategy using the information of both the output voltage and the output power is used in this system. A series of experiments is carried out on a 15 kW prototype for verification. Results show that the system has good static and dynamic performance in a wide speed range, which demonstrates that the ISFC strategy is suitable for this system.

The 0.55Pb(Ni1/3Nb2/3)O3-0.05PbHfO3-0.4PbTiO3/Ni0.875Zn0.125Fe2O4 (PNNHT/NZF) 0e3 particulate composite ceramics were prepared by the conventional solid-state reaction method via introducing the nano-sized WO3 and CuO sintering aids by the self-combustion method. Due to the introducing of nanosized sintering aids, densified PNNHT/NZF composite ceramics are synthesized sintered at low sintering temperature. Furthermore, the nano-sized sintering aids act effectively as blocking layers, leading to compact composite ceramics with homogenously dispersed and isolated microstructure morphology, inhibiting inter-phase diffusion, avoiding interfacial chemical reaction, and achieving strong inter-phase coupling. Therefore, the synthesized PNNHT/NZF composite ceramics exhibit enhanced magnetoelectric properties.
A High-Performance Self-Powered UV Photodetector Based on SnO2 Mesoporous Spheres @ TiO2

A novel self-powered UV photodetector (UVPD) based on the photoelectrochemical cell (PECC) has been constructed using the TiO2 coated SnO2 mesoporous spheres (SnO2-MS@TiO2). This self-powered UVPD displays a higher photocurrent density compared to the UVPD with the pure SnO2-MS. By means of external quantum efficiency (EQE), UV-vis absorption, and electrochemical impedance measurements, we scrutinize the intrinsic role of the TiO2 coating layer on the photocurrent enhancement. Under UV irradiation, this UVPD exhibits a high on/off ratio of 11519, a fast rise time of 0.007 s and decay time of 0.006 s, together with the excellent visible-blind characteristic and linear optical signal response. The self-powered photodetector is a promising candidate for application in high-sensitivity and high-speed UVPDs.
