A Genetic Algorithm-based Classifier Ensemble Optimization for Activity Recognition in Smart Homes

Over the last few years, one of the most common purposes of smart homes is to provide human centric services in the domain of u-healthcare by analyzing inhabitants` daily living. Currently, the major challenges in activity recognition include the reliability of prediction of each classifier as they differ according to smart homes characteristics. Smart homes indicate variation in terms of performed activities, deployed sensors, environment settings, and inhabitants` characteristics. It is not possible that one classifier always performs better than all the other classifiers for every possible situation. This observation has motivated towards combining multiple classifiers to take advantage of their complementary performance for high accuracy. Therefore, in this paper, a method for activity recognition is proposed by optimizing the output of multiple classifiers with Genetic Algorithm (GA). Our proposed method combines the measurement level output of different classifiers for each activity class to make up the ensemble. For the evaluation of the proposed method, experiments are performed on three real datasets from CASAS smart home. The results show that our method systematically outperforms single classifier and traditional multiclass models. The significant improvement is achieved from 0.82 to 0.90 in the F-measures of recognized activities as compare to existing methods.

In this paper, we propose a methodology to annotate the digital documents through keyphrase extraction using domain specific taxonomy. Limitation of the existing keyphrase extraction algorithms is that output keyphrases may contain irrelevant information along with relevant ones. The quality of the generated keyphrases by the existing approaches does not meet the required level of accuracy. Our proposed approach exploits semantic relationships and hierarchical structure of the classification scheme to filter out irrelevant keyphrases suggested by Keyphrase Extraction Algorithm (KEA++). Our experimental results proved the accuracy of the proposed algorithm through high precision and low recall.
CDSS: Integration of Social Interaction and Smart Space for Chronic Disease Patients

Chronic disease may leads to other life threatening health complications like heart disease, stroke, diabetes and peripheral vascular disease that diminished quality of life. This paper points out the importance of social interaction and smart space integration in existing CDSS for chronic diseases. Social interaction allows the patients to interact with system, through this continuous learning and digesting patient experience, our CDSS becomes intelligent and dynamically enhanced. Smart spaces automatically provide new knowledge and construct the behavioral profile by monitoring the daily life activities. Through these features, patients can get continuous relevant recommendations from the system, so they can get a chance to improve their health condition which in terms keeping on their quality of life. It also helps the health practitioners in better decision making about medication and living patterns.
Comparison of Error and Enhancement: Effect of Image Interpolation

Image interpolation is a technique that pervades many an application. Interpolation is almost never the goal in itself, yet it affects both the desired results and the ways to obtain them. In this paper, we proposed a technique that is capable to find out the error when the common two methods (bilinear and nearest neighbor interpolation) are applied on an image for rotation. The proposed technique also includes the comparison results of bilinear interpolation and nearest neighbor interpolation. Among them nearest neighbor interpolation gives us a better result regarding to the enhancement and due to least error. The error is found by using Mean Square Error (MSE).

Diabetes is a chronic disease which may lead to other life threatening health complications like heart disease, stroke and peripheral vascular disease that diminished quality of life. In order to assists diabetic patients, we develop a smartphone application to monitor the regular medicine intake and exercise routines through repetitive user friendly and motivational reminders. Health-practitioners including doctors and nurses can frequently view and analyze the daily routine of patients through a web-interface. This paper presents architecture to improve the quality of life with android smart phone as user terminal, and integration of web-based application through web services for health care professionals. We also explain how each of the application interacts with each other and internal integration.
