One probabilistic design method is the Reliability-Based Design Optimization (RBDO) which has probabilistic constraints considering the probability of the satisfaction/failure of constraints. In this research, the RBDO concept is applied to Topology Optimization and Reliability-Based Topology Optimization (RBTO) is developed. RBTO can be a useful and meaningful method, but it requires expensive computation time. Therefore, this research proposes parallel computed RBTO using Response Surface Method (RSM) since the parallel computing can save processing time for the optimal design. The proposed RBTO methodology is applied to MEMS systems. Specifically, in MEMS system, RBTO can be highly effective because of the system characteristics such as etching process and scaling effect.
