Objective: Medical narratives entry is a major issue to be solved in developing an electronic medical record system operating in practice, as they are, in large part, described in a free-text format. The issue can be dealt with in three aspects: to improve the reusability by structuring medical narratives, to support clinical pragmatics in medical fields, and to reduce the burden of data entry. With the aspects having in mind, this paper purports to present an ontological method for better way of medical narratives entry. Methods: We developed an ontology for which medical knowledge is structurally represented. Then we can enter medical narrative texts with commands of the controlled natural language operable on the ontology model. Results: Many theoretical studies on free-text entry were reviewed, based on which an authoring and editing tool for natural language description operable on the ontology model has been developed and tested. The performance of the tool is satisfactory within the limit of the domain models we developed here. Conclusion: The results of this paper are contributive for clinicians to make an easy entry of medical narratives as far as the ontology model covers their knowledge domain. It is also expected that the cost in recording medical narratives might be considerably reduced and data quality can be improved. (Journal of Korean Society of Medical Informatics 12-3,261-271, 2006)
시뮬레이션을 이용한 치과의원의 예약정책과 스케줄링 규칙 평가

In today`s competitive dental markets, it is of paramount importance to improve service quality and at the same time to use scarce resource efficiently. In this study, we present appointment policies and scheduling rules for private dental clinics to reduce the waiting time of patients and to increase the revenue by utilizing resource more effectively. This study validates the proposed appointment policies and scheduling rules based on simulation models. We show that the bottleneck-based appointment policy is the most effective among appointment policies, followed by the multiple-block appointment one. The shortest processing time among scheduling rules contributes most to the performance of the appointment system.
재사용 가능한 병리 온톨로지 구축을 위한 지식 모델링 시스템 개발

본 연구에서는 병리진단 시 참여자들의 지식과 의견을 효과적으로 교환할 수 있는 온톨로지를 구축하고, 구축한 온톨로지를 기반으로 진단절차를 전산화하는 PathOnt 시스템을 개발하였다. PathOnt 시스템은 재활용 가능한 온톨로지를 사용함으로써 여러 전문가들 간의 의사소통과 지식공유의 문제를 극복하였으며, 다 충위로 구현하여 웹 어플리케이션으로써의 비전도 제시하였다.

This paper studies the scheduling problem of storing and retrieving assembly blocks in a temporary storage yard. The objective is to minimize the number of relocations of blocks while the constraints for storage and retrieval time windows are satisfied. We present an integer programming model based on multi-commodity network flows, and the three revised models based on the properties of the problem. We show that the revised models are more efficient than the generic model through the numerical experiments.

In this paper, we consider the minimization of the total weighted earliness-tardiness penalty of jobs, regarding the partial precedences between jobs, We present an optimal scheduling algorithm in 0(n(n+m log m)) where n is the number of jobs and m is the number of partial precedences. In the algorithm, the optimal schedule is constructed iteratively by considering each group of contiguous jobs as a block that is represented by a tree.
