In this study, indoor thermal parameters were measured to investigate the characteristics of thermal environments and 212 occupants were questioned to evaluate Korean thermal comfort in office building in summer. Thermal and comfort sensations were estimated using PMV(Predicted Mean Vote) and ET* (New Effective Temperature) which are most widely used nowadays. Comparing this experimental result with international standards and that of other research, Korean thermal responses were discussed. It was found that TSV(Thermal Sensation Vote) is more sensitive than PMV to the variation of temperature and that the measured percentage of dissatisfied is higher than PPD(Predicted Percentage of Dissatisfied) in real office building environments. By regression analysis, the following regression equation has been obtained: TSV=0.461ET*-11.808 and neutral temperature is $25.6^{\circ}C$ in this case. Thermal comfort range based on 80% satisfaction is also $24.0{\sim}26.8^{\circ}C$, which is about $1^{\circ}C$ higher than that of ANSI/ASHRAE Standard.

Birds and insects have wings of rounded edge profiles. In the experiment, the wing of the square edge profiles had been employed. In this study, two wings which have different shapes of edge are used to investigate the aerodynamic characteristics. One wing has rounded edge profiles and the other has square edge profiles. Two half elliptic shaped wings were designed and scaled up according to the planform of a black-chinned hummingbird, Archilochus alexandri. While the wings were operated in the water, the aerodynamic forces were measured and the flow structures around the wings were visualized using the DPIV. The lift for the wing of rounded edge profiles was higher than that for the wing of square edge profiles. But drag for the wing of rounded edge profiles was lower than that for the wing of square edge profiles. Also the lift to drag ratio for the wing of rounded edge profiles at angle of attack from 0° to 40° was higher than that for the wing of square edge profiles.

2-dimensional impeller's distinctive feature is expected to have an influence on performance and flow characteristics of centrifugal compressor. And new design method is required for 2-dimensional impeller, because the unique geometry cannot be designed using conventional theories. The objective of this study is to advance new design technology for 2-dimensional impeller and to investigate the performance characteristics of designed 2-dimensional centrifugal compressor. The performance test for 2-dimensional impeller is conducted at 35000, 4000 and 45000rpm. Also numerical calculation is applied by using commercial CFD code, FLUENT, and the results are compared with experimental results.
