      • 마이크로펌프를 이용한 PCR Chip의 구동

        This paper presents the fabrication possibility of the micro actuator which uses a micro-thermal bubble, generated by a micro-heater under pulse heating. The valve-less micropump using the diffuser/nozzle is consists of the lower plate, the middle plate, the upper plate. The lower plate includes the channel and chamber are fabricated on high processability silicon wafer by the DRIE(Deep Reactive Ion Etching) process. The middle plate includes the chamber and diaphragm, and the upper plate is the micro-heater. The Micropump is fabricated by bonding process of the three layer. This paper presented the possibility of the PCR chip operation by the fabricated micropump.

        경누구절개 접근법(Transcaruncular Approach)을 통한 안와내벽골절 정복

        Medial orbital wall fracture can easily be overlooked because typical clinical symptoms appear in only a few instances. However, if it is left untreated in case of no diplopia, cosmetically undesirable enophthalmos may develop. Various cutaneous approaches, previously used, may leave noticeable scar or provide a limited overview of the orbit medial wall fracture site.We used the transcaruncular approach in 36 cases of 35 patients for reconstruction of the medial orbital wall fracture. The incision was made at the junction of the medial 3/4 and lateral 1/4 of the caruncle, and extended along the conjunctival fornix superiorly and inferiorly to or beyond both puncta for 10-15mm long respectively. After soft tissue was dissected, periosteum was incised at the posterior to the posterior lacrimal crest. Implants up to a height of 2.5cm could be inserted.The diplopia was resolved in all cases after the surgery, and enophthalmos measured 0 to 2mm in all patients. Postoperative computed tomographic scans showed favorable reduction of the herniated soft tissues and anatomic reduction of the medial wall without complication related to the surgical approach in all cases.Transcaruncular approach is a better alternative to transcutaneous incisions because it provides wide exposure of the medial orbital wall, no visible cutaneous scar, short operation time, and no damage of important internal structures.

      • 전산유체해석을 이용한 자동차용 AQS 시스템의 유로구조 설계

        In recent years, concern among car users about air quality inside car cabins has been steadily increasing. A vehicle exhaust gases such as carbon monoxide(CO) and nitrogen oxides(NOx) entering the cabin not only reduce the quality of experience for everyone in the car, but are also harmful to the health. Therefore, an air quality sensor(AQS) system which can perform this function is issued. In this paper, the design of channel structure for automotive AQS system was studied by computational fluid dynamic analysis according to the design parameters such as the number of air inlet, membrane porosity and permeability. Form simulation results, the AQS system was developed and the performance test was conducted.

        This paper presents the micro positioning/tilting system with flexure. The basic principle and the operation mechanism were introduced. The micro positioning system consists of a moving platform, three piezoelectric actuators, clamper and flexure hinges. The flexure hinges which are beam hinge, spherical notch joint, wide range hinge are designed and fabricated. The FEM simulation was used to design and optimize the flexure hinges mechanism. Form the result of FEM simulation we fabricated the micro position system by CNC machine and WEDM with the material of SUS 304. To evaluate the performance of the fabricated micro positioning system, the output displacement of the moving plate in vertical direction was measured and tested.

        This paper presents the design of high speed micro punching system using PZT actuator displacement amplification device. The punching process is easier, faster and more economical way to obtain the desired product shape the another conventional manufacturing processes. The PZT has a characteristic of high speed and reponse as a good actuator in high precision positioning device. In addition to, PZT can generate a superior force and give a fast frequency response above 10㎲. This system devide precision guide module and PZT module. The cymbal-type flexure hinge is used to amplify the displacement of a PZT because of the limited deformation range of PZT. The finite element method was used to determine the cymbal-type flexure hinge stiffness and analyze the mode shape.

        의식저하를 동반한 외상환자에서 외상환자 중증도 평가 도구의 유용성

        Purposes: The causes of altered mental status (AMS) are varied. Trauma accounts for 6.5%-36.3% of all AMS cases, and the mortality in these instances ranges from 20~80.5%. Multiple injury severity scoring systems exist to assist in the prognosing of trauma patients. We investigated the degree of correlation between injury severity scoring systems and prognoses of patients with AMS due to trauma. Methods: We reviewed the medical records of 188 patients admitted to the emergency department of Konyang University Hospital who had trauma with AMS. We investigated the clinical characteristics of these patients and evaluated the usefulness of four injury severity scoring systems: revised trauma score (RTS), injury severity score (ISS), new injury severity score (NISS), and trauma and injury severity score (TRISS). Results: The average scores of ISS and NISS were higher and RTS and TRISS were lower in the non-survivor group than in the survivor group (p<0.01). The area under the curve (AUC) for the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve was 0.725 for ISS and 0.733 for NISS, but these scoring systems had only a fair predictive ability. Hosmer- Lemeshow statistics showed no predictive ability differences for death between the four scoring systems. The predictive ability of all injury severity scoring systems to identify survivors was high (88.1~94.0%). In contrast, their predictive ability to identify non-survivors was low (29.6%~63.0%). Conclusions: In the use of RTS, ISS, NISS, and TRISS for evaluating trauma patients with AMS, none of the four systems exhibited any distinguishing predictive features. All failed to reliably predict non-survivors, but all showed good predictive value for identifying survivors.

        Monitoring canopy phenology in a deciduous broadleaf forest using the Phenological Eyes Network (PEN)

        Phenological variables derived from remote sensing are useful in determining the seasonal cycles of ecosystems in a changing climate. Satellite remote sensing imagery is useful for the spatial continuous monitoring of vegetation phenology across broad regions; however, its applications are substantially constrained by atmospheric disturbances such as clouds, dusts, and aerosols. By way of contrast, a tower-based ground remote sensing approach at the canopy level can provide continuous information on canopy phenology at finer spatial and temporal scales, regardless of atmospheric conditions. In this study, a tower-based ground remote sensing system, called the “Phenological Eyes Network (PEN)”,which was installed at the Gwangneung Deciduous KoFlux (GDK) flux tower site in Korea was introduced, and daily phenological progressions at the canopy level were assessed using ratios of red, green, and blue (RGB) spectral reflectances obtained by the PEN system. The PEN system at the GDK site consists of an automatic-capturing digital fisheye camera and a hemi-spherical spectroradiometer, and monitors stand canopy phenology on an hourly basis. RGB data analyses conducted between late March and early December in 2009 revealed that the 2G_RB (i.e., 2G - R - B) index was lower than the G/R (i.e., G divided by R) index during the off-growing season, owing to the effects of surface reflectance,including soil and snow effects. The results of comparisons between the daily PEN-obtained RGB ratios and daily moderate-resolution imaging spectroradiometer (MODIS)-driven vegetation indices demonstrate that ground remote sensing data, including the PEN data, can help to improve cloud-contaminated satellite remote sensing imagery.
