        An attempt was made to study circulatory and respiratory responses to the passive tilt. Anesthetized dogs were tilted from horizontal to upright (+90˚) and head down (-90˚) position. The arterial blood pressure was decreased in the upright position and was decreased slightly in the head down position comparing to that in the horizontal position. Cardiac index also decreased in the both upright and head down positions. The total systemic vascular resistance was slightly increased in the upright position and was markedly increased in the head down position. The mean pulmonary arterial pressure was significantly decreased in the both upright and head down positions. The total pulmonary vascular resistance was decreased in the both upright and head down positions. Oxygen consumption was slightly decreased in the upright position, whereas it was slightly increased in the head down position. The A-V O<sub>2</sub> difference (vol. %) was slightly increased in the upright position and increased in the head down position. From the above results, process of the circulatory compensation to the gravity in the Passive tilting test was discussed. Neuronal cardiovascular regulation to the gravity and tile adaptation of capacitance vessles to hydrostatic stress and oxygen consumption concerning anoxic endurance of the brain were also discussed.

      • 두부하위(-6℃)로의 체위변동이 말초혈류에 미치는 영향

        The purpose of the present study was to examine the hemodynamic responses, especially in arterial and skin blood flows, in conjunction with the changes of plasma catecholamine levels as an indirect marker of adrenergic tone during the early stage of head-down tilt (HDT), and to evaluate the early physiological regulatory mechanism in simulated weightlessness. Ten mongrel dogs, weighing 8 ~ 14 kg, were intravenously anesthetized with nembutal, and postural changes were performed by using the tilting table. The postural changes were performed in the following order: supine, prone, HDT (-6℃) and lastly recovery prone position. The duration of each position was 30 minutes. The measurements were made before, during and after each postural change. The arterial blood flow (Q̇) at the left common carotid and right brachial arteries was measured by the electromagnetic flowmeter. Blood pressure (BP) was directly measured by pressure transducer in the left brachial artery. To evaluate the peripheral blood flow, skin blood flow (Q̇) was calculated by the percent changes of photoelectric pulse amplitude on the forepaw, and skin temperature was recorded. The peripheral vascular resistance (PR) was calculated by dividing respective mean BP values by Q̇ of both sides of common carotid and brachial arteries. Heart rate (HR), respiratory rate (f) and PH, Po<sub>2</sub>, Pco<sub>2</sub> and hematocrit of arterial and venous blood were also measured. The concentration of plasma epinephrine and norepinephrine was measured by radioenzymatic method. The results are summarized as follows: Tilting to head-down position from prone position, HR was initially increased (p<0.05) and BP was not significantly changed. While Q̇ of the common carotid artery was decreased (p<0.05) and PR through the head was increased, Q̇ of the brachial artery was increased (p<0.05) and PR through forelimbs was decreased. Q̇ of the forepaw was initially increased (p<0.05) and then slightly decreased, on the whole revealing an increasing trend. Plasma norepinephrine was slightly decreased and the epinephrine was slightly increased. f was increased and arterial pH was increased (p<0.05). In conclusion, the central blood pooling during HDT shows an increased HR via Bainbridge reflex and an increased Q̇ of the forepaw and brachial Q̇, due to decreased PR which may be originated from the depressor reflex of cardiopulmonary baroreceptors. It is suggested that the blood flow to the brain was adequately regulated throughout HDT (-6℃) in spite of central blood pooling. And it is apparent that the changes of plasma norepinephrine level are inversely proportional to those of Q̇ of the forepaw, and the changes of epinephrine level are paralleled with those of the brachial Q̇.

      • 성장기 한국인 남녀 기초체력 향상에 관한 연구 (남자 중.고등학생을 대상으로 하여)

        The effects of Physical exercise, gymnastics and sports on the cardiopulmonary function were studied in the middle and high school toys. The subjects were divided into 4 groups; non-training group and training group in both middle school and high school boys. In the above groups, pulmonary function studies were performed, and blood pressure and the heart rate were also checked to evaluate physical fitness during and immediately after running exercise on the tread-mill, with the speed of 5 MPH and elevation of 9% and 11.25%. The types of sports in the training group were base ball, body building, Taekwondo (Korean style boxing) and hand ball. The results obtained were as followings: 1) In the training group, cardiopulmonary function showed some tendency of the increase comparing to the non-training group. 2) The increase in cardiopulmonary function was observed according to the age became older, but the clear changes on cardiopulmonary function was not observed as the difference of the group between the training and the non-training. 3) The expiratory volume was decreased as the increase of age except 17 years of age for the value of the per kg body weight. 4) In the non-training group, the mean value of oxygen consumption under maximum work load was increased, while those in the training group was decreased. But it may be noted that oxygen consumption for the expiratory volume was increased in the training group, and that the oxygen cost in the training group was .higher than that of the non-training group. 5) The pulse pressure of the high school group during and immediately after running exercise was observed in the higher value comparing with that of the middle school group It was suggested that the changes of the pulse pressure was owing to the method of determination and that to the decrease of diastolic pressure caused by the decrease of peripheral vascular resistance up to critical closing pressure. 6) Any differences of the changes in the heart rate between the training group and non-training group was not observed during and immediately after running exercise. 7) The relative value of the expiratory volume to the heart rate was decreased in the elder age group.

      • 체위변화에 수반되는 심맥관계반응에 관한연구

        Anesthetized dogs were tilted from horizontal to the upright and head down position. Tilting to the upright position was followed by an increase in heart rate. In the head down position a decreased heart rate was obtained. The arterial blood pressure was decreased in the upright position and was decreased markedly in the head down position. The central venous pressure was decreased in the upright position and was markedly decreased down to the negative pressure in the head down position. The respiratory rate was slightly increased in the upright position comparing to that in the horizontal position. No remarkable changes were noted in the head down position. From the above results the following factors were discussed The decreased arterial blood pressure during the upright position was supposed to be the secondary effect from the diminished venous return that was suggested by the decreased central venous pressure. The decreased arterial blood pressure in the head down position was also supposed as the above reason as the diminished central venous pressure during the tilt. In addition the cardioinhibitory effects originated from the baroreceptors might have been operated during head down tilting. In the heart rate there was slight tachycardia in the upright position this was assumed as the abolished cardioinhibitory impulses from the baroreceptor in the upright position. On the contrary, despite of the decrease of arterial blood pressure in the head down position as well as in the upright, the bradycardia have been appeared. This was suggestive of cardioinhibitory impulses from the baroreceptors which was stretched during head down tilting. From the above findings there is a possibility of continous cardioinhibitory responses during head down tilting for this kind of the short period of 10 minutes which was chosed in this study.

      • 과칼륨혈증의 심전도변화와 중조(重曹)투여가 이에 미치는 영향

        과칼륨혈증(Hyperkalemia)시의 심전도의 변화를 흰쥐에서 관찰하고 특히 평균 QRS 전기축의 변화, P-Q 및 Q-T 간격의 변화와 중조$(NaHCO_3)$투여에 의한 치료적 효과가 흰쥐에 심전도 변화에 미치는 영향에 대하여 관찰하였다. 실험동물을 4군으로 나누고 정상대조군, KCl만 투여군, $NaHCO_3$만 투여군 및 KCl 투여 1시간 반후 $NaHCO_3$투여군에 대해 그 소견을 비교 고찰하였다. KCl투여군에서 분시 심박수는 초기에 급속히 감소하여 그대로 유지되며 후기에는 급격히 서맥이 초래되며 심장이 정지된다. 평균 QRS 전기축은 후기에 좌측으로 편의한다. T파의 파고는 일시적으로 증가하였으나 후기에는 변화가 없었다. P-Q 간격은 초기에 연장되다가 말기에 회복되었으며 Q-T 간격도 초기에 연장 되었다가 후기에 점차 회복되는 경향을 보였다. $NaHCO_3$만의 투여군은 심박수가 초기에 급격히 감소하나 후기에는 반대로 미미한 회복 경향을 보인다. 평균 QRS 전기축은 초기에 변화가 없었고 말기에는 좌측으로 편의하였으며 T파의 파고는 큰 변화가 없었다. 또한 P-Q간격 및 Q-T 간격은 초기에 연장되다가 말기에 단축되었다. KCl투여 1시간 반 후 과칼륨혈증상태에서 $NaHCO_3$를 투여한 군에서는 심박수의 회복은 없었다. 평균 QRS 전기축의 우측편의 경향과 감소되었던 R파고의 증가와 증가되었던 T파의 파고 회복경향이 있었다. P-Q 간격은 계속 연장되었으며 Q-T 간격은 중조투여직전에 비하여 큰 변화가 없었다. The effects of $NaHCO_3$ on the electrocardiogram of rats were studied in the induced hyperkalemia. The subjects were divided into 4 groups: the group 1 was normal control and the data on this normal control had teen obtained from the following three groups before administration of KCl or $NaHCO_3$, the group 2 (KCl) was administered 40 ml per kg body weight of the 10 per cent KCl solution, the group 3 $(NaHCO_3)$ was administered 40 ml per kg body weight of the 10 per cent $NaHCO_3$ solution, and the group 4 $(KCl+NaHCO_3)$ was received 10 per cent KCl, which was followed by administration of 10 per cent $NaHCO_3$ at one and half hours later. In KCl, the heart rate was decreased rapidly, and then maintained its level, later rapid decreasing heart rate was followed by the cardiac stand still. The mean electrical axis of QRS complex became progressively deviated to the left. The amplitude of T wave was increased transiently but was not changed thereafter. There was prolongation of the P-Q interval and the Q-T interval at the beginning and then they were shortened. In $NaHCO_3$, the heart rate was decreased rapidly at the beginning, later showed a tendency of recovery. The mean electrical axis of QRS was not changed initially, but later became deviated to the left. The amplitude of T wave was not changed. There was prolongation of the P-Q interval and the Q-T interval at the beginning and then they were shortened. In $KCl+NaHCO_3$, there were a tendency of recovery of both the amplitude of the T wave and the electrical axis of the QRS complex after administration of $NaHCO_3$ but the heart rate was not recovered. There was prolonged P-Q interval, but the Q-T interval was relatively unchanged.

      • 운동부하 및 각종 신체조건이 혈압 및 ECG에 미치는 영향 -제2보- (각종 Stress에 의한 심전도 변화)

        We studied this experiment to compare the effects of exercise and other body conditions: i.e., Flack test, cold pressor test and bicycle ergometry on the electrocardiogram. We had sixty healthy college students who were thirty nine men and twenty one women. Their $mean{\pm}SD$ values of physical characteristics were as follows: age; $22.0{\pm}1.4$, weight; men $61.7{\pm}5.6\;kg$, women $46.2{\pm}7.47\;kg$. We observed the changes of P-Q and Q-T interval, R and T amplitude, mean QRS vector, S-T segment deviation, and P and T vector. The result obtained were summarized as follows: P vector was shifted rightward regardless of the type of stress. T vector was shifted var-in each stress but in the bicycle ergometry T vector was shifted leftward. Mean QRS vector was shifted rightward immediately after the bicycle ergometry. Percentage of the occurrence of the depression of S-T segment was 21.7% at the immediately after the submaximal bicycle ergometry in lead II. The elevation of S-T segment was often observed after the mild stresses. Increased amplitude of T wave in the cold pressor test and decreased amplitude of T wave in the bicycle ergometry were observed. In the bicycle ergometry and other stresses, the precise mechanism of S-T segment changes was unexplained but insufficient repolarization in base or apex of the left ventricle due to heart strain was indicated by so called S-T vector analysis.

      • 체위 변화시의 혈액 pH, $Pco_2$ 및 $Po_2$의 변화

        경사대에 의한 수등적체위 변화시 분시 호흡수, 혈액 pH, $PCO_2$ 및 $PO_2$의 변화를 관찰하고 다음과 같은 성적을 얻었다. 체위변화시 호흡수는 기립위에서는 수평대조치에 비해 감소하고 도립위에서는 많은 증가를 보였다. 혈액 pH는 기립위에서 수평대조치에 비해 동맥혈은 0.2%가 증가되었고 정맥혈은 0.3%가 감소하였다. 도립위에서는 수평대조치와 거의 변화가 없는 값을 나타내었다. $PCO_2$는 기립위에서 수평대조치에 비해 동맥혈은 8.3%, 정맥혈은 0.3%가 감소되었고 도립위에서는 동맥혈은 20.1%가 감소되고 이것은 통계적으로 의의있는 변화였다. 정맥혈은 7%가 감소되었다. $PO_2$는 기립위에서 동맥혈은 2%가 증가, 정맥혈은 21.7%가 감소되었으며 이것은 통계적으로 의의있는 변화였다. 도립위에서는 동맥혈은 11.4%가 증가되고 정맥혈은 14.1%가 감소되었다. 도립위에서 동맥혈의 $PO_2$가 증가 되는 원인은 도립중의 과도호흡하에 의한 것이라 사료되며 정맥혈의 $PO_2$의 감소는 도립중의 근육수축에 연유하는 산소소비량의 증가가 그 원인이라고 사료된다. 또 도립위에서 $PO_2$가 감소하고 수소ion의 감소가 예상됨에도 불구하고 pH가 증가하지 않는것은 산소소비가 증가되고 정맥혈의 $PO_2$가 감소되는 것으로 봐서 염기성해당으로 젖산이 증가된것이 아닌가 생각된다. To evaluate orthostatic brain hypoxia from the passive tilt, anesthetized dogs were tilted from supine to $90^{\circ}C$ upright and $90^{\circ}C$ head down position. Blood pH, $Pco_2$ and $Po_2$ changes during tilt were measured on 8 dogs. Respiratory rate was decreased in upright position and increased in head down position comparing to that in rte horizontal position. pH in arterial blood was increased in upright position and decreased in venous blood comparing to that in the horizontal position. No significant changes were found in the head down position. $Pco_2$ of arterial and venous blood was decreased both in upright and head down. position A significant decrease was found in the head down position. $Po_2$ in arterial blood was increased both in the upright and head down position. However, it was decreased in the venous blood. The cause of increased $Po_2$ in arterial blood seemed to do due to hyperventilation and the cause of decreased $Po_2$ in venous blood was thought to be due to increased $O_2$ consumption of animals during the tilt.

      • 국소한냉자극이 전신 및 국소혈액순환에 미치는 영향 -제 2 보 : 동계 및 하계의 계절변화에 따른 한냉반응-

        A possibility whether the appearance of adaptation to cold climate during winter could occur or not in Taegu area was evaluated by comparing the data obtained in winter with that obtained by the same method in summer. Circulatory response was induced by the immersion of one hand in the cold water. The systemic and local responses in the blood circulation from the immersed hand and the unimmersed opposite hand were observed simultaneously. In addition Galvanic skin resistance(GSR) that is influenced by the activity of autonomic nervous system and the vascular tonicity was recorded. The experiment was performed by examining sixty healthy college students in winter and fifty in summer, whose mean age was 21.0, mean weight 60.6±0.90 kg(male) and 48.3±0.98 kg(female). The cold stimulus was applied by immersing the left hand into the cold water of 5℃ for 3 minutes, and the response was observed on immersed left hand and unimmersed right hand simultaneously. The observation was made through determining mean blood pressure, heart rate, amplitude of photoelectric capillary pulse (APCP) and GSR. The results obtained are as follows: The mean blood pressure was elevated during the cold stimulation. The increase of blood pressure in summer was more remarkable than in winter. At the recovery period the blood pressure was decreased to the control level in winter but the decrease below the control level was observed in summer. The increase of heart rate in summer was more remarkable than in winter during the cold stimulation. At the recovery period heart rate in both winter and summer was decreased below the control level. During the cold stimulation the APCP was decreased on both hands in winter. However it was more prominent on left hand indicating additional direct cold effect on immersed hand. In summer, the decrease of APCP during immersion was less remarkable than that in winter, but the regain of APCP was faster than that in winter at the recovery period. And the prompt increase of APCP over the control level has been obtained at the 3 minutes of the recovery period. The GSR was remarkably increased on immersed hand but slightly decreased on unimmersed opposite hand during the cold stimulation. Thus the finding on immersed hand indicates that the local direct effect of cold water is more prominent than the systemic effect, where as the finding on unimmersed hand indicates that the circulatory response to painful stress elicited by the cold stimulation is more prominent than cold temperature itself. In summary, it seems that the systemic circulatory response to the local cold stimulation of the one hand is arised more from the secondary elicited pain sensation and less from the low water temperature. On the contrary to the report of Kim et<sup>39)</sup>, the adaptation phenomena in blood pressure to the relatively mild cold climate in winter was not observed in this study. The difference of circulatory response observed in this study between winter and summer may be due to the difference of the magnitude of subjective sensation of the cold water stimulation by the seasonal changes in air temperature. 국소한냉자극이 전신 및 국소혈액순환에 미치는 영향과 동계에 있어서 한냉에 대한 적응을 관찰하기 위하여 동계 및 하계에 편균연령 21세의 남녀 대학생 각 60명 및 50명을 대상으로 5℃의 냉수에 일측 손을 담구어 3분간 국소한냉자극을 가하였다. 침수 1, 2, 3분과 회복기 1, 3, 5분에 침수한 측과 침수 반대측에서 평균혈압, 분시심박수, 광전 모세혈관 맥박의 파고, 피부전기저항을 관찰하여 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 국소한냉자극시 혈압은 증가하였고 하계에서 동계보다 더 큰 증가를 보였다. 회복기에 동계는 서서히 대조치로 회복되나 하계에는 대조치보다 유의하게 감소하였다. 분시심박수는 침수시 증가하며 하계에서 동계보다 더 증가하였고 회복기에는 동계 및 하계 모두 대조치보다 감소하였다. 광전 모세혈관 맥박의 파고는 동계에는 침수 및 침수 반대측 모두 감소하였으나 침수한 측에서 더 크게 감소하였으며 이는 침수한 측에 있어서 한냉의 국소효과에 기인한 것으로 보인다. 하계에는 동계보다 작은 감소를 보였으며 회복기에는 더 빠른 회복을 보여 대조치보다 증가하였다. 피부전기저항은 침수시 침수 반대측에서는 감소하나 침수한 측에서는 유의하게 증가하였다가 회복기에 서서히 감소하였다. 침수 반대측의 감소는 동통에 의한 반응이 한냉에 의한 반응에 첨가되어 나타난 것으로 보이며, 침수한 측은 한냉에 의한 국소효과가 크기 때문인 것으로 보인다. 이상으로 5℃의 국소한냉자극시 전신적 반응은 한냉자극에 의한 동통성 stress에 기인한 반응이 우세한 것으로 생각되며 김 등<sup>39)</sup>의 보고와는 달리 동계 및 하계의 반응의 차이는 계절에 따른 한냉자극에 대한 주관적 감각의 차이에 의한 것으로 동계에서 한냉기후에 의한 국소한냉자극의 적응현상은 나타나지 않는 것으로 사료된다

      • 임부(姙婦)의 Flack test에 관(關)하여

        The change of heart rates during Flack Test was observed in the pregnant women, $24{\sim}48$weeks, of gestational age, to analyze mechanical and neural regulatory factors in responses to the positive lung inflation. The results obtained were summarized as followings: 1) Endurance tine of Flack Test was 37.6 sec, in the nonpregnant women, and 25.1 sec. in the pregnant women. 2) When Flack Test was employed, heart rate was decreased in early stage of Flack Test in the pregnant women, while heart rate was increased in the nonpregnant women. 3) In the pregnant women bradycardia due to abdominal mechanical intervention in early stage of Flack Test was prominent, while tachycardia was found in the nonpregnant women. 4) During Flack Test, tachycardia due to sympathetic central reflex activation was observed immediately after bradycardia in early stage of Flack Test. 5) It may be noted that Flack Test employed in the present study is a useful model to evaluate and analyze the neural and mechanical abdominal intervention factor in response to the positive inflation of lung in pregnant women.
