KAERI has been developed a conceptual design of the PGSFR, the pool-type sodium cooled fast reactor. The intermediate heat exchanger is located in the primary heat transport system and transfers heat generated from reactor core from primary heat transport system to the intermediate heat transport system. KAERI developed a one-dimensional code for design and performance analysis of an intermediate heat exchanger. Computational fluid dynamics simulations were performed to validate this code and analyze three-dimensional heat flow. In the case of temperature, the code and CFD results were very similar and the pressure was slightly different, the code was modified compared with the experimental results. The problem caused by temperature imbalance founded in tube-side outlet chamber of the IHX was solved by incorporating the flow mixer.

The comparison and analysis of flaw detectability, flaw sizing methods and allowable criteria in accordance with the applicable codes, ASME and RCC-M Code, in ultrasonic examination of pressure vessel in nuclear power plants were studied. According to the codes, calibration blocks were made. The artificial flaws such as disc and band types in test specimens were machined. They were detected and evaluated with each code requirements and measured values were compared with the actual flaws.
RSEM 규격에 따른 중국 광동 원전 상온수압시험시의 음향방출 누설시험 및 누설 육안검사

원자력발전소의 상온수압시험에는 여러가지 목적이 있으며 그 중에서 가장 중요한 것 중 하나는 원전 주요 기기로부터의 누설여부를 알아내는 것이다. 동 시험에서 누설 여부를 알아내기 위해 현재 국내에서는 미국 규격에 따라 육안검사를 수행하고 있으나 프랑스의 경우, 음향방출 누설시험과 육안검사를 수행토록 하고 있다. 저자는 1992년과 1993년 중국 광동 원전 1,2호기의 가동전검사에 참여하여 프랑스의 RSEM 규격에 따라 실시된 상온수압시험시의 음향방출 누설시험과 누설 육안검사에 대하여 기술 지원 업무를 수행하였다. 동시험에서는 시험 최고 압력인 228bar에서는 음향방출 누설 감시시험과 누설 육안검사를, 감압단계인 155bar 에서는 누설 육안검사를 수행하였다. 본고에서는 동 규격에 따라 최초로 수행된 중국 광동 원전 가동전검사 수압시험시의 음향방출에 의한 누설감시와 누설 육안검사에 대해 검사 기술, 검사 방법, 검사 절차, 그리고 검사 대상부위 등을 기술하였다.

Acoustic Emission(AE) signals obtained during fracture toughness test and fatigue test for nuclear pressure vessel material(SA 508 cl.3) and artificial AE signals from pencil break and ultrasonic pulser were classified using pattern recognition methods. Three different classifiers; namely Minimum Distance Classifier, Linear Discriminant Classifier and Maximum Likelihood Classifier were used for pattern recognition. In this study, the performance of each classifier was compared. The discrimination of AE signals from cracking and crack surface rubbing was possible and the analysis for crack propagation was applicable by pattern recognition methods.

The effect of ultrasonic search units on the detectability and size evaluation of planar flows was studied for thicker ferritic material using the technique of the DAC curve and reference level. Cylindrical holes were used as calibration reflectors. The planar flaws such as disc and band types were machined. They were detected and evaluated with different search units and sizing criteria. The value evaluated was compared with the actual dimension of planar flaws.

The importance and role of preservice and inservice inspection(PSI/ISI) for nuclear power plant components are intimately related to plant design, safety, reliability and operation etc.. The Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute(KAERI) has been performing PSI/ISI in Korea since the PSI of Kori nuclear power plant, unit 1 had been performed in 1977. KAERI has localized PSI/ISI technology and has done much experience in ultrasonic flaw detection, evaluation and its excavation on the weldments of large pressure vessels. The results of flaw estimation using ultrasonic examination are compared with the actual flaw sizes revealed by field excavation. KAERI's experience regarding PSI/ISI was described and some discussions were added.

핀-핑거형 터빈 동익 루트의 사각 초음파탐상에서의 기하신호가 해석된다. 동익루트의 기하가 설명되고, 기하신호가 형성되기 위한 반사조건들이 제시된다. 그리고, 이 기하신호의 빔경로에 관한 일반식들이 유도되고 검증된다. 이 기하신호는 리가먼트 모서리 신호이며, 그 위치와 진폭은 핀홀과 리가먼트의 크기 및 탐촉자의 빔지향 특성으로부터 결정될 수 있다는 것이 보여진다. Interpreted is the geometric signal in the angle beam ultrasonic testing for the pin-finger type of turbine blade roots. The geometry of the blade roots is described and the reflection conditions for appearance of the geometric signal are proposed. The general equation for its beam path is derived and verified. As the results, it is found that the geometric signal is the back reflection from the ligament edge, and its position and amplitude can be determined from the dimension of blade root and the beam directivity of transducer.
