3D compressible turbulent flows around the transonic swept wings are calculated. Computer code using LU-factored implicit upwind TVD scheme has been developed for the purpose of investigating full aircraft configuration. It uses the Harten- Yee's modified upwind scheme in the explicit inviscid Part and Steger-Warming operator splitting in the implicit viscous part. Baldwin-Lomax turbulent model is used for this computer code. Reported in this paper are the flows past ONERA M6 wing with three different conditions and RAE wing flow. the results have shown good comparison with the experimental data except the case of large angle of attack which accompanies separated flow. Baldwin-Lomax model predicts the shock position too far downstream when separation exists.

Aerodynamic characteristics of tandem airfoil under ground effect is investigated numerically. Some numerical results for NACA 6409 tandem airfoil are presented. The numerical results show that as being decreased distance between airfoils, the lift coefficient of leading airfoil is increased and that of trailing airfoil is decreased. Drag coefficient shows opposite property. At the same distance between leading airfoil and trailing airfoil, lower position of trailing airfoil give better tandem airfoil effect.

Ground effect of three-dimensional wing is studied. LU-factored Implicit upwind TVD scheme and Baldwin-Lomax turbulence model are used for this calculation. To investigate ground effect, NACA 4415 wing at M=0.5 calculated. Two different angles of attack and three cases of flight height are calculated. As increasing angle of attack, the ground effect becomes strong. In case of NACA 4415 wing in ground effect, strength of wing tip vortex becomes stronger than that of free flight.

Typical Li-ion rechargeable battery electrode manufacturing process consists of slurry mixing, coating / drying, slitting, calendaring process. In these processes, the drying process has a huge impact on the performance of the battery. The electrode drying oven was numerically studied using CFD method. The oven consists of eight drying zones in series. In this paper, various line speed cases were studied and compared to find optimal line speed. The CFD analysis results include the air flow inside the drying oven, the electrode coating surface temperature and the residual amount of water of each drying zone.
