The supports Renaissance Artists of Italia had got from Roman Popes were related with that Italia produce the most and the best artists, and for the reason of it Roman Popes and artists had close relations with each other beyond the classes, giving feedback to another. Popes exercises his influence over the entire arts to use the art works as a method of propagating Catholic doctrines and the superiority of theology. The artists Even enjoyed stable life, even though they had to draw about limited themes.
However, the Papal court moving to Avignon, France which had powerful sovereign, the new era of Pope in France started, since then Italian Renaissance Art began in Firenze. This seems very unique, by judging that arts such as architecture made great strides in Rome depending upon the support of Roman Popes. The support of Roman Popes guaranteed artists" success, therefore it seems to be worth considering the relation between Renaissance Art and the detention of Pope in France.
The crisis of the Avignon era, however, made the Pope`s authority focused on Rome. Furthermore, the rise of Renaissance in Firenze and the support of Medici and Mecenat affected by social and ideological change brought a development to
Firenze art, and that made it possible to form Roman Church.
By the religious and political events, the crisis of religious picture and religious arts was established, but works of the gifted artists supported by Popes, especially of Rennaisance era, made significant contributions to art.
Even if the division, religious renovation of religion and the firmness of Christianity made by the authority of Pope and the issue of commitment of it after the Avignon era caused political and ideological chaos, the supports for artists by Popes were constant, and in the event the chaos and division gave rise to creative artists and the new trend of art.

Objectives : The meridian system is a systematic complex of empirical knowledge, which functions as a basis of acupuncture treatment. In this article, we reviewed the visualization methods of meridian and acupuncture points through the investigation of the characteristics of Diagram of Meridians, Mingtang Diagram, Diagram of Meridians and Collaterals, Bronze Statues and Diagram of Bronze Statue. Methods : We investigated the characteristics of Diagram of Meridians, Mingtang Diagram, Diagram of Meridians and Collaterals, and Bronze Statues. We reviewed the visualization methods of meridian and acupuncture points in those classical Diagrams and analyzed their relationships among them. Results : In order to explain the meridian and acupuncture points easily, ancient people usually used drawings which are named Mingtang Diagram, Diagram of Meridians and Collaterals, by their own characteristics. Owing to their limitations of drawings on the 2 dimensional plane, Chinese people designed the Bronze Statue for Acu-moxibustion and its first invention was invented in Tiansheng age of Song dynasty. For several decades and centuries, these models and drawings were inherited, also reflecting variations of meridian system. As the Bronze Statue has a deficiency in the educational use because of its limitations of mass production, Diagram of Bronze Statue drawn on the 2 dimensional plane was invented. At the beginning of Mingtang Diagram, Diagram of Meridians and Collaterals, Diagram of Bronze Statue and Bronze Statue, their own characteristics were significantly differed with other diagrams and statues. We found that both diagrams and statues were gradually combined with description of the relationship between internal organs and the skeletal structure and the meridian system. Conclusions : Our findings suggest that Diagram of Meridians, Mingtang Diagram, Diagram of Meridians and Collaterals, and Bronze Statues are the basic form of data visualization, one of the infographics. We suggest that ancient Chinese people intend to explain the empirical knowledge using the ancient infographics of meridian system, but have limitations on reflecting theorical or abstractional meaning.
Vol.17 No.11
This research was carried out to investigate the effects of Hambag mushroom on the oxidative stress in diabetic rats, Sprague-Dawley. The diabetic rats induced by streptozotocin were fed with hambag mushroom-powder(G. frondosa) for 6 weeks. For the level of oxidative stress in liver and pancreas tissues, it was studied by measuring LPO (lipid oxide) level as an indicator of lipid peroxidation, XOD (xanthine oxidase) as one of important sources for free radicals and the levels of GSH and GST as anti-oxidant systems. Also, as an indicator of liver damaged by oxidative stress, the activities of serum ALT and AST were measured. It was observed that the levels of ALT, AST, LPO and XOD were higher by about two times in both tissues from diabetic rats than in those from control rats. This indicates that the oxidative stress induced by diabetes caused the tissues damages. However, these levels were decreased in the tissues from rats with hambag mushroom-powder. Futhermore, the activity of GST were higher in both tissues from diabetic rats fed with hambag mushroom-powder than in those from diabetic rats. Thus, it is considered that the hambag mushroom-powder decreases the level of oxidative stress by increasing activity of anti-oxidant system such as GSH and GST. It is suggested that the hambag mushroom-powder can be useful for preventing the tissues damaged by diabetes-induced oxidative stress.

Objectives : Saam acupuncture initiated by Saamdoin is traditional and originative method, which is characterized by applying the five phases theory and mother-child reinforcement-reduction principle to the selection of acupoints and needling manipulation. Our study was aimed to summarize and assess the use of acupoint SP3(Taebaek) in Saam acupuncture treatment and to further understand Saam acupuncture in an aspect of the combination of acupoints. Methods : We searched the data based on 『(Do Hae Kyo Kam) Sa-Ahm``s acupuncture method』for SP3 used and acupoint combination including SP3. We performed frequency analysis, network analysis, and cluster analysis for quantitative aspect. To understand clinical implication of SP3 with another acupoint, qualitative and descriptive methods were also carried out. Results and Conclusions : In our study, SP3 was frequently used for tonification of lung, spleen, heart, and kidney meridian and sedation of kidney, heart, and lung meridian. For this, many acupoints such as LU8, LU9, KI3, HT8, KI7, LU10 and LR1 were used with SP3. The combination of SP3 and other acupoints were used to treat stroke, common cold, and pain conditions including headache, low back pain, respiratory disease as well as gastroenteric troubles including stomachache, indigestion, vomiting, and constipation. To further understand Saam acupuncture, an understanding of the five transport points based on five elements characters, pathological changes (deficiency and excess) of viscera and bowels, and concept of source point should be preceded.

Objectives: The purpose of this study is to figure out which acupoints are selected to treat low back pain and attempt to analyze the effectiveness of those acupoints in current clinical trials. Methods: We searched the three electronic databases(PUBMED, RISS, KISS) and manually checked related Korean journals and reference lists up to April 2012. We included randomized controlled trials, clinical controlled trials, and case reports/series using needle type acupuncture(manual acupuncture, electronic acupuncture) to treat low back pain in English and Korean. We investigated the frequency of selected acupoints, change of visual analogue scale of low back pain and statistical significance in each study among trials. Results: We included 37 articles(Domestic 17, International 20) 53 studies(Domestic 28, International 25) in this study. The most frequently adopted acupoints were BL23, BL24, BL25, GB30, BL26, BL60, BL32, BL40, KI3, GV3, ST36 in domestic studies and BL23, BL25, BL40, BL60, GB30, GB34, BL32, BL26 in international studies. There were differential effectiveness of acupoints between domestic and the international studies using statistical significance of visual analog scale for low back pain. Conclusions: These results suggest that both proximal and distal acupoints based on meridian theory were used in clinical trials to treat low back pain. It would be helpful to provide clinical guideline, evaluate the results of clinical trials appropriately, and reveal the effectiveness of acupoints.
