Purpose : To quantitative analyse the hot flush and abdominal cold hypersensitivity relief efficacy of Cheonglijagamtang in climacteric women by DITI. Methods : The patients was a 59-year-old climacteric woman who was suffered by hot flush and abdominal cold hypersensitivity. The patient was treated by herb medicine, acupuncture treatment, moxa treatment and physical treatment. The progress of symptoms was evaluated by checking the change of VAS, and inspecting the DITI. Results : Visual analog scale of hot flush and abdominal cold hypersensitivity in this climacteric women have decreased after treatment. The temperature of two abdominal site(RN12.RN4) after treatment get higher than those before treatment. Difference of acupoint-Indang and other abdominal site(RN12.RN4)'s temperature have decreased after treatment. Conclusion : The result suggest that DITI can be used for the diagnosis of hot flush and coldness relief efficacy in climacteric women.

Purpose :To analyze body composition in postpartum women with cold-hypersensitivity, their edema index, skelectal muscle's weight and body fat were measured and analyzed with cold hypersensitive postpartum women compared with those of non-cold hypersensitivity. Methods : We studied 38 postpartum women visiting Gangnam Kyung-Hee Korean Hospital from 1 st October 2010 to 30th september 2011. they were subjected to Digital Infrared Thermal Imaging and those with thermal difference greater than $0.3^{\circ}C$ between anterior forearm and center of hand were diagnosed with cold hypersensitivity. Cold hypersensitivity group were consisted of 11 women, the other were consisted of 26 women. All of them were measured Edema index, skelectal muscle's weight and body fat by Inbody720(body composition scanner). We studied the difference of Body composition factor between two groups and relationship between cold-hypersensitivity, Edema index, skelectal muscle's weight and body fat by Independent Samples T-test and Spearman Correlation. Results : No significant differences were observed in edema index, skelectal muscle's weight and body fat between two groups. Conclusion : There was no significant relationship among the Cold-hypersensitivity and Body composition factor(Edema index, skelectal muscle's weight. body fat). But furthemore large scale study is required.

This study was designed to investigate intestinal immune systemactivation and antimetastatic effect of Ojeok-san on cancer cells by oral administration. Methods: Cell viability of Ojeok-san was tested with colon 26-M3.1 carcinomacells and Peyer`s patch cells in vitro. Antimetastatic experiments were conductedin vivo mouse model by using colon 26-M3.1 carcinoma cell. To observe immunomodulatingeffects of Ojeok-san on Peyer`s patch cells, we measured interleukin (IL)-4, GM-CSF. In addition to observing effects of Ojeok-san on hematopoiesis, we measured proliferationof bone marrow cells mediated by Peyer`s patch cells in vitro. IgA induction activated in serum and intestinal content was measured to observethe effect of orally administered Ojeok-san on mucosal immune system. After administeringOvalbumin (OVA) with Ojeok-san, Proliferation of Peyer`s patch cell was measuredto investigate gut immunostimulatory effect. Results: in vitro cytotoxicity analysis, the inhibitory concentration (IC)50 of thecolon 26-M3.1 carcinoma cell was 890 μg/ml. IC50 of the Peyer`s patch cells withLPS was 990 μg/ml. We found that orally administered Ojeok-san significantly inhibitedtumor metastasis in vivo. In addition, the amounts of IL-4 and GM-CSF in the culturesupernatant of Peyer`s patch cells were significantly increased compared to the controlgroup. The proliferation of bone marrow cell was significantly up-regulated withOjeok-san. These results indicate that oral administration of Ojeok-san enhances thesecretion of hematopoietic growth factors such as GM-CSF and IL-4 from Peyer`s patchcells, and these cytokines also act on modulator of bone marrow cell proliferation. After orally administering Ovalbumin (OVA) with Ojeok-san, IgA induction andProliferation of peyer`s patch cell was up-regulated with Ojeok-san. These resultsmeans orally administered Ojeok-san activates intestinal immune system and hasan inhibitory effect on tumor metastasis. Conclusions: Orally administered Ojeok-san appears to have considerable activityon the anti-metastasis by activation of immune system.

Objectives: The purpose of this systematic review is to assess the effects of herbal medicine with in vitro fertilization-embryo transfer (IVF-ET) based on the current evidence. Methods: Eligible randomized controlled trials (RCT) searched from Pubmed which compared a combination of herbal medicine and IVF with IVF alone were included. Results: Sixteen trials, in which 2025 women involved, were included in this review. The review results showed that the effect of traditional herbal medicine can improve the clinical pregnancy rate (herbal medicine intervention: 30.36~63.64%, Control: 9.38~47.5%) and rate of high quality oocytes and embryos. The mechanism may be through regulating follicular fluid to improve microenvironment for oocytes which would lead to a successful embryo implantation. Conclusions: This analysis showed that combination of IVF and traditional herbal medicine used in the included trials improve clinical pregnancy rate and IVF success. During in vitro fertilization, TCM can regulate the microenvironment in the follicular fluid to mature the oocyte, improve the quality of the embryo, and help the development and implantation of the embryo. Further large randomized placebo controlled trials are needed to confirm the effectiveness of traditional herbal medicine with concurrent IVF.
