실내공간에서 화재 발생위치에 따른 연기거동에 대한 실험연구

In order to investigate the smoke movement in three dimensional room fires, the center fire, wall fire and corner fire plume in different sized fires were studied experimentally by rectangular pool fire using methanol as a fuel. As the fire size became larger for the center fires placed at the center of the floor, the air flow rate entrained through the opening, average hot layer temperature, flame angle deflected backwards and mean flame height was observed to increase. On the other hand, as the fire size became smaller, the neutral plane height in the door and time reached steady-state was observed to decrease. The average hot layer temperature, mean flame height and doorway neutral plane height obtained from comer fire were higher than those produced by wall fires and center fires. The simple model for describing the effect of walls on the mean flame height was presented. It was shown that the model provides a good description of the present measurements, when used with the assumption by Hansell(1993), that the increase of the average flame height is equal to the ratio of the open to the total perimeters of the trays. Also the two models for predicting the effects of walls on the mean flame height were presented. These models overestimated the measured values of the mean flame height above fuel trays close to a wall and in a corner by approximately 19-26%, respectively.
가변 모멘트 암 기반의 소형 가변 강성 액추에이터 모듈

최근에 들어 로봇과 환경 사이의 상호작용이 다양하게 발생하는 작업에서 가변 강성 액추에이터의 연구가 활발하다. 기존의 다양한 가변 강성 액추에이터가 개발되었지만 크기와 중량 때문에 응용분야를 찾기가 어렵다. 따라서 다양한 분야에 쉽게 이용되기 위해 소형의 가변 강성 액추에이터(miniVSA)를 개발하였다. miniVSA는 모멘트 암 기반의 강성제어 장치와 두 개의 모터로 구성된 구동 장치로 구성된다. 강성제어 장치는 두 캠의 상대 운동을 제어하여 위치와 강성을 동시에 제어할 수 있다. 이를 실험을 통하여 강성 변화를 검증하였다. In recent years, variable stiffness actuation has attracted much attention because interaction between a robot and the environment is increasingly required for various robot tasks. Several variable stiffness actuators (VSAs) have been developed; however, they find limited applications owing to their size and weight. For realizing their widespread use, we developed a compact and lightweight mini-VSA. The mini-VSA consists of a control module based on an adjustable moment arm mechanism and a drive module with two motors. By controlling the relative motion of cams in the control module, the position and stiffness can be simultaneously controlled. Experimental results are presented to show its ability to change stiffness.
레이놀즈 응력모델을 이용한 압력구배가 있는 난류경계층의 유동장 해석

Numerical study on turbulent and mean structures of a turbulent boundary layer with longitudinal and spanwise pressure gradient is carried out by using Reynolds-stress-model (RSM). The existence of pressure gradient in a turbulent boundary layer causes the skewing or divergence of rates of strain, which contributes to production of turbulent kinetic energy. Also, this augmentation of production due to extra rates of strain can increase the turbulent mixing and cause the anisotropy of turbulent intensities in the outer layer. This paper uses the Reynolds Stress Model to capture anisotropy of turbulent structures effectively and is devoted to compare the results computed by using RSM and the standard k-.epsilon. model with experimental data. It is concluded that the RSM can produce the more accurate predictions for capturing the anisotropy of turbulent structure than the standard k-.epsilon. model.
터빈블레이드의 냉각에서 충돌제트에 의해 변화되는 유동 및 열전달 특성에 관한 수치해석적 연구

A numerical simulation has been carried out for the jet impinging on a flat plate and a semi-circular concave surface. In this computation finite volume method was employed to solve the full Navier-Stokes equation based on a non-orthogonal coordinate with non staggered variable arrangement. The standard k-.epsilon. turbulent model and low Reynolds number k-.epsilon. model(Launder-Sharmar model) with Yap's correction were adapted. The accuracy of the numerical calculations were compared with various experimental data reported in the literature and showed good predictions of centerline velocity decay, wall pressure distribution and skin friction. For the jet impingement on a semi-circular concave surface, potential core length was calculated for two different nozzle(round edged nozzle and rectangular edged nozzle) to consider effects of the nozzle shape. The result showed that round edged nozzle had longer potential core length than rectangular edged nozzle for the same condition. Heat transfer rate along the concave surface with constant heat flux was calculated for various nozzle exit to surface distance(H/B) in the condition of same jet velocity. The maximum local Nusselt number at the stagnation point occurred at H/B = 8 where the centerline turbulent intensity had maximum value. The predicted Nusselt number showed good agreement with the experimental data at the stagnation point. However heat transfer predictions along the downstream were underestimated. This results suggest that the improved turbulence modeling is required.

It is unavoidable that the fuel spray impinges on the wall of piston cavity in a compact high-pressure D.I. diesel engine. Therefore the characteristics of impinging spray are the very significant information on the consideration and the simulation of its combustion processes including the formation mechanism of exhaust emission and the design of the combustion chamber. In this paper, the numerical simulation was performed to study the characteristics of impinging spray. The spray-wall impingement model used is Watkins and Park's model. Calculation parameters are the inclination angles and the ambient pressures. As the inclination angle increases, the impinging spray develops mainly to the direction of the downstream and scarcely flows to that of the upstream. The shape on the wall of the impinging spray is the circle in the case of the normal impingement, while it is the ellipse in that of the oblique impingement. As the ambient pressure increases, the growth of impinging spray on the wall in the radial direction decreases owing to the increase in the resistance of the ambient.
