It has recently been concerned about cooling loads due to solar radiation through windows for commercial buildings. External shadings can be used to effectively reduce the direct and global solar radiation on windows. This paper analyzed the direct and global solar radiation facing on a vertical window according to the projection factors(PF) of external horizontal and vertical shadings in its orientation for a clear day in Summer and then proposed Solar Heat Gain Coefficient(SHGC) multipliers for such external horizontal and vertical shadings.

This study analyzed the concentration reduction effects of particulate matters (e.g., PM10 and PM2.5) and indoor air pollutants (e.g., CO2, TVOC, Radon) according to the operation conditions of an air-cleaner and natural ventilation through windows in a small office. As results, the daily average concentrations of PM10 and PM2.5 decreased into 0.2 μg/m3 from 1.6 μg/㎥ when the air-cleaner was in operation along with all windows closed during holidays. Under the conditions of natural ventilation with the windows opened during weekdays, the concentrations of Radon significantly decreased up to 0.2 pCi/ℓfrom 3.7 pCi/ℓ. However, the daily average concentrations of PM10 increased almost double up to 74.7 μg/㎥ from 30.5 μg/㎥ and PM2.5 increased up to 40.9 μg/㎥ from 21.5 μg/㎥ as well even though the air-cleaner was in operation. Consequently, when it comes to improving indoor air quality, it is important to timely operate ventilation (natural or mechanical) systems as well as air-cleaner(s) depending on the concentrations of measured indoor and outdoor air pollutants.
건물에너지 모니터링 및 시뮬레이션을 활용한 신축건물의 에너지성능평가

The performance evaluation of a new building is becoming more important because efficient design alone is often not sufficient to deliver an efficient building. However, there is a lack of standard evaluation methods to measure the energy performance of a new construction that has Energy Conservation Design Measures (ECDMs). This study presents an enhanced method based on calibrated whole-building simulation for evaluating the energy performance of new commercial buildings and demonstrates its use using a case-study building, including: an Energy Use Index (EUI) comparison with sub-metered data and an evaluation of the performance of specific ECDMs. The use of this method has determined that the case-study building was shown to use approximately 47% less energy than the base-case building that has the same shape and function as the case-study building (i.e., calibrated as-built simulation model), but doesn't include the simulated ECDMs.
주거용 건물 지열원 멀티 히트펌프시스템의 지열순환펌프 가변유량제어에 관한 실증연구

The purpose of this study is to propose an enhanced variable-speed control method of ground-water circulation pumps using inlet and outlet ground-water temperature difference and analyze its effect for the ground source multi-heat pump system installed in a single-family house. As a result, it has shown to significantly reduce the electricity use of ground-water circulation pump and improve overall system Coefficient of Performance (COP) due to the proposed variablespeed control under partial load conditions after oversized and inefficient single-speed pump retrofit.
