Vol.38 No.5

A healthy and successful retirement life is increasingly becoming important along with cultivating a physical environment that provides a variety of community activities in common living areas. This study focuses on identifying elderly needs in community facilities according to the scope and size of the residential areas. Through literature review, the community status by region, the concept and components of the elderly community, and the classification of elderly activities within the community were discussed. Additionally, a survey research tool was develop and utilized in the form of a structured questionnaire. Elderly people in their 60s and 70s living in a metropolitan city, a small or medium-sized town, and a rural area responded to this questionnaire. The results and conclusions indicated that the main form of transportation to a community facility for the elderly was walking; the most popular community activities involved ‘leisure and/or hobbies’ and ‘walking and/or exercise’. While analyzing the demand and satisfaction of senior welfare facilities, the demand for ‘medical facilities’, ‘welfare facilities’, and ‘neighborhood sports facilities’ placed the highest in all regions; however, the demand for religious facilities was the lowest. The results of this study can provide direction for community planning and is expected to be used as data that enables aging in place for seniors.

실내공간 색채배색 및 조도변화에 따른 색채감정 평가

        하지민(Ha, Ji-Min),박수빈(Park, Soobeen) 대한건축학회 2017 대한건축학회논문집 Vol.33 No.10

This study aims to evaluate color affect according to color scheme and illuminance change by analyzing color preference and prefrontal EEG alpha and beta signal. First, we measured psychological evaluation by using preference with Likert 7 scale and the subjects’ physiological responses by EEG to see the changes of valence (frontal alpha asymmetry) and arousal (the ratio of beta to alpha) to color conditions and illuminant differences. The eight colored spaces were built using computer graphic programs. Two colors, Red and Purple Blue were selected for this experiment, and two types of illuminances(200㏓ and 500㏓). 39 subjects in their 40s and 60s, with normal color vision for their age, participated in a room with the natural light blocked. The results were as follows. (1) When comparing emotional preference, there were also no significant differences by age, but the characteristics of Illuminance have a great influence on psychological response. (2) When comparing EEG signal analysis, there were significant differences by age. Absolute power of EEG signal in their 40s was higher than 60s. (3) When comparing color affect, arousal level in their 40s was relatively higher than 60s, and they showed the happiest emotional state in PB-B with 500㏓. In their 60s, valence was found to have a greater influence on the emotional state, and they felt pleasant with complementary color schemes.

한 · 난 배색이미지의 연령별 색채감성 평가에 관한 연구

        신은경(Shin, Eun-Gyeong),박수빈(Park, Soobeen) 대한건축학회 2017 대한건축학회논문집 Vol.33 No.10

This study compared emotional responses to color combinations in the 60s group to those in the younger groups(20s, 40s) in order to develop simple and accurate measuring tools. With increasing elderly population, aging vision is a factor that considerably impacts color visualization. The environment surrounding us stimulates our vision not only through visualizing one color separately but also through visualizing color combinations composed of more than two colors. This study focused on subjects’ emotional responses to a long wavelength color (R) and short wavelength color (PB) combinations. Twelve living room images were constructed using a computer graphic program. The rooms were two monochromatic color combinations, two analogous color combinations and two complementary color combinations in 200 lx and 500 lx. The images were presented through a 23-inch LED monitor. The subjects responded to the sensitivity vocabulary by semantic differential (SD) scales, while watching the images in a room with the natural light blocked. A total of 90 questionnaires were analyzed by SPSS 18.0. Major findings as follows: 1) When comparing each of the color images by SD scale responses, 60s showed significant differences compared to 20s and 40s in color emotion. 2) When comparing in 500 lx color combination images, there was no significant differences between each group. This study found the characteristics of people’s emotional responses to color combinations. This study will provide one basic data on color psychology research and directions of color design by analyzing the color emotion difference of color combinations according to age.

Children express stress through excessive behavior and negative emotional expression, not conversation, which delivers stress to people nearby. The purpose of this study is to find the environmental factors causing children"s stress and affecting positive emotion, which can be reflected in the waiting space design. The waiting space of nine hospital in Busan were prudently examined based on the interior design elements of floor, wall, ceiling, lighting, furniture, and color. through website, two among them were analyzed by the region including the informational and preparing area, the waiting area, and the playing area. Two faculties from each hospital took part in depth interview, Results and conclusions are as follows. (1) The floors of each hospital’s waiting space was designed neutral colored polishing tiles, which were plain and slippery. Additional non-slip installation and decorating stickers could be recommended for children to play. (2) Bright colored character graphic were applied to the walls considering visual stimulation. Various textured materials are recommend to the wall which enhance children’s activities through tactile stimulation as well as visual one. (3) The monotonous design of the ceiling was problematic. for the various activities of the children, the hall-centered design should be organically connected to the corridor to integrate the space. (4) The lighting was designed with focus on the hall. The hall design should be applied to the passage in consideration of the movement of children. (5) Fixed chairs restrict the movement of children. The sofa should be installed in a form without a backrest, taking into account the various body movements of the children. (6) Overly intense colors, patterns and dark colors can cause problems with space use. To alleviate visual stress, a combination of bright and pastel colors should be combined appropriately.
