Bicoronal or hemicoronal flaps have been used in oral & maxillofacial surgery to gain access to the upper & middle thirds of the facial skeleton. We reviewed 16 patients who received surgical treatments through the coronal flaps from 1993. 8 to 1994. 9 in our department, and considered the morbidith of the procedure. The results were : 1. The complications were transient sensory(25%) and motor(25%) deficits, hematoma (6.3%) and infection (6.3%), and they are resolved in various times. 2. With a adequate knowledge of surgical anatomy, a coronal approach will provide an exposure that facilitates accurate reduction and fixation of fractures and will allow a superior cosmetic results with minimal or no complications. Some usggestions for further reduction in the occurrence of complications have been made.
Robust Adaptive Speed Controller for PMSM Servo Drives with Model Uncertainties
박기광(Ki-Kwang Park),한병조(Byung-Jo Han),양해원(Hai-Won Yang) 대한전기학회 2009 정보 및 제어 심포지엄 논문집 Vol.2009 No.10
In this paper, a robust adaptive speed control is developed for permanent magnet synchronous motors(PMSM) with uncertainties. The proposed control scheme consists of flux control(FC) using a sliding mode adaptive flux observer and robust speed control(RSC) using a function approximation for mechanical uncertainties (such as load torque, friction force and moment of inertia etc.). Dynamic friction and force ripple are the most predominant factors that affect the positioning accuracy of PMSM servo drives system, and it is desirable to compensate them in finite time with a continuous control law. The proposed controller guarantees both speed tracking and flux tracking. Simulation results are presented to illustrate the effectiveness of the approaches proposed.

Chylous fistula is a rare complication occurring after radical neck dissection. Previous reports on neck dissection described an incidence of about 1% to 2%. We report a case of chylous fistula that occurred after radical neck dissection for squamous cell carcinoma of left lower gingiva and mandible in a 52-year-old man. We successfully managed the fistula by the following conservative measures : bed rest with head elevation, continuation of closed suction drainage, and dietary management to decrease the rate of chyle formation.
Sliding Mode Congestion Control of Differentiated-services Networks

In this paper, we propose sliding mode congestion controller for differentiated-services network. Two important issue in differentiated-services architecture are bandwidth guarantee and fair sharing of unsubscribed bandwidth among TCP flows with and without bandwidth reservation. We use tight upper and lower bounds for various settings of differentiated-services parameters using the loss-bounded model. The Sliding mode congestion controller scheme is designed using nonlinear control theory based on a nonlinear model of the network that is generated using fluid flow consideration. The methodology used is general and independent of technology, as for example TCP/IP or ATM. The sliding mode congestion controller methodology has been applied to an TCP network. We use NS-2 simulation to demonstrate that the proposed control methodology achieves the desired behavior of the network, and possesses important attributes. as e.g, stable and robust behavior, high utilization with bounded delay and loss, together with good steady-state and transient behavior.

Dynamic friction and force ripple are the most predominant factors that affect the positioning accuracy of permanent magnet synchronous motor(PMSM) servo drives system, and it is desirable to compensate them in finite time with a continuous control law. In this paper, based on LuGre dynamic friction model, a robust adaptive skidding mode controller is proposed to compensate the nonlinear effect of friction and force ripple. The controller scheme consists of a PD component and a robust adaptive sliding mode controller for estimating the unknown system parameter. Using Lyapunov stability theorem, asymptotic stability analysis and position tracking performance are guaranteed. Simulation results well verify the feasibility and the effectiveness of the proposed scheme for high0precision motion trajectory tracking.

Bony defects of mandible caused by trauma, infection, or tumor resection have been reconstructed by autologous bone graftings. These reconstruction can restore facial contour and integrity of the oral cavity. However, it is often necessary to reduce the bulk of bone to allow soft tissue coverage of the graft. Therefore, the construction of removable dentures in this situation is fraught with frustation. The use of osseointegrated implants is a method to allow improved anchorage and support for the successful fabrication of dental protheses. We report two cases of the use of osseointegrated implants of the Branemark type(3i), in conjunction with bone grafting to the lower jaw.
