Protective Effect of Stilbenes on Oxidative Damage

stress induced by reactive oxygen species (ROS) has been suggested to be the cause ofvarious degenerative diseases as well as aging. To evaluate the antioxidant potential of stilbenes, we havebutyl hydroperoxide (t-BuOOH). Of the stilbenes tested, piceatannol (3) showed the most potent activity, whichwas further investigated using an animal model. When 3 (30 or 10 mg/kg) was topically administered prior toUVB irradiation, the amount of the thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS) was significantly reducedcompared to that of the control (vehicle). Cytotoxic Compounds from the Stem Bark of Magnolia obovata

Two sesquiterpenes (1 - 2), a tetralone (3), and two phenylpropanoids (4 - 5) were isolated from the stem bark of Magnolia obovata Thunberg (Magnoliaceae) through repeated column chromatography. Their structures were identified as β-eudesmol (1), cryptomeridiol (2), 4R-4,8-dihydroxy-β-tetralone (3), trans-pcoumaryl aldehyde (4), and p-coumaric acid (5) on the basis of spectroscopic analysis including two dimensional NMR and mass. Compounds 1 - 3 were tested in vitro for their cytotoxic activity against the K562, HeLa, A549, and HCT116 cancer cell lines. However, compounds 1 - 3 were inactive in this assay system.

For toxicity assessment, powders and water extracts from the Piperis Longi Fructus were manufactured, and the component analysis were analyzed according to the Korean Herbal Pharmacopoeia method. Stability tests of powders and water extracts from the Piperis Longi Fructus were investigated at refrigerated and room temperature for one year. Powder and water extract were found to have been stable for a year after analyzing them with HPLC. Therefore, the use of the powders and water extracts of Piperis Longi Fructus after preparation during the animal test turned out to be stable.
Compounds from the Aerial Part of Saururus chinensis and Their Cytotoxic Activity

Ten known compounds, 7-hydroxysauchinone (1), sauchinone (2), di-O-methyltetrahydrofuriguaiacin B (3), henricine (4), saucerneol K (5), meso-dihydroguaiaretic acid (6), (-)-guaiacin (7), (3R,4S)-4-(4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl)-4-methoxy-3-methylbutan-2-one (8), (E)-7-(4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl)-7-methylbut-8-en-9-one (9), and licarin A (10), were isolated from aerial part of Sarurus chinensis. The chemical structures of these compounds were determined on the basis of spectroscopic analyses including 2D NMR. Compounds 1 - 10 were evaluated for their cytotoxic activity against the HL-60, MCF-7, and A549 cancer cell lines in in vitro.
심미적 감성 역량 함양을 위한 교과 연계 프로그램 개발 방향 탐색

The purpose of this study is to explore the possibilities to design a program that would cultivate esthetic sensibility in students based on the revised curriculum for 2022. To accomplish this, we focused on the newly introduced concept of “reflection” in the core competency definition of the 2022 revised curriculum. To provide the basis for cultivating the aesthetic sensibility in students, we designed the methods to make all the education more diverse and not just art and physical education. Through the review of previous studies on the subject of developing esthetic sensitivity in non-arts education, we found that language and ethics education approached the problem from a humanistic perspective, whereas science and social sciences approached it from an ecological sensitivity perspective, and arts and physical education approached it as sub elements of the aesthetic sensitivity competency. Based on those findings, the objectives for the composition of the program were selected by analyzing the 2022 revised curriculum specifics. Subsequently, a theme-based program that would integrate art and social studies was designed, and the process of cross-curricular integration was presented as a key method to achieve the objective. It is hoped that various program development studies to cultivate the esthetic sensibility education will be provided in schools within the newly implemented revised curriculum starting next year. 본 연구는 2022 개정 교육과정을 기반으로 한 심미적 감성 역량 함양을 위한 프로그램을 설계할수 있도록 그 방향성을 탐색하는데 목적을 두었다. 이를 위해 2022 개정 교육과정 핵심 역량 정의에서 새로이 등장한 ‘성찰’에 주목하여 예술 교과 이외에 보다 다양한 교과에서 심미적 감성 역량을 확대 적용할 수 있는 근거를 마련하였다. 예술 이외의까지 확대 적용하기 위해 선행연구를 고찰한 결과, 국어와 도덕 교과에서는 인문학적 접근으로, 과학과 사회는 생태 감수성적 접근으로, 예술과 체육 교과는 심미적 감성 역량의 하위 요소로 접근하여 반영하고 있었다. 이러한 방향성을 바탕으로 심미적감성 역량 함양 프로그램을 설계하기 위해 2022 개정 교육과정 각론을 분석하여 프로그램 구성을 위한 범위를 선정하고, 관련 내용 체계와 성취기준을 추출하였다. 그리고 미술과 사회 교과를 연계한 주제 중심의 프로그램을 설계하고 교과 연계 과정을 주요 활동 중심으로 제시하였다. 내년부터 단계적으로 적용되는 새 교육과정에서 심미적 감성 역량 함양 교육이 학교 현장에 안착될 수 있도록 다양한프로그램 개발 연구가 학교 현장에 제공되길 바란다.
