『요한 수난곡』에 나타나는 바흐의 시학에 대하여

바흐의 교회음악을 해석하기 위하여 당시의 신학적 배경이나 그가 붙인 시가사의 의미를 살펴보아야 하는 것이 물론 중요하지만 이것에만 치중한다면 바흐가 음악을 통해 표현하고자하였던 진실이 왜곡될 수도 있다. 그는 가사에 음악을 붙이는 데에 있어서 가사의 의미를 전달하고 장식한다기보다는 가사를 읽고 느끼는 자신의 감정전달에 더욱 충실했기 때문이다. 본 논문을 통하여 밝히고 싶은 것은 음악을 붙이면서 오히려 바흐가 얼마나 가사의 의미를 모호하게 만들고 심지어는 그 의미를 숨기고 있는가 하는 것이다. 그의 작곡과정과 함께 이 과정과 음악을 붙이게 된 시와의 연관성을 면밀하게 살펴보면서 나는 신학적으로 중립적인 관점에서 바흐를 바라보는 것이 그의 '시학(Poetics)'을 살펴보는데 왜 큰 도움을 주는지에 대한 제안을 하였다. 여기서 그의 '시학'이란 음악에 따라 나오는 단어들의 의미를 강화하는 것만으로는 결코 들을 수 없는 정교하게 다듬어진 음악을 위한 그의 취향이라고 할 수 있다. 헨델의 『줄리어스 시저』에 나오는 아리아에서 당시의 통상적인 가사붙이기 관습에 대하여 알아보고 이를 바흐의 것과 비교하였다. 바흐 『요한 수난 곡』의 아리아 "Ach, Mein Sirm"과 "Es ist volibracht"의 리토르넬로 구조 분석을 통하여 가사붙이기에 있어서 가사와 리토르넬로 사이의 형식적인 관계를 알아보고 그 작곡과정을 살펴보아 바흐가 해석한 시의 내용은 가사를 보조하는 음악을 통하여 전달하였기보다는 오히려 순수기악적인 리토르넬로를 교묘하게 고안하는 창조적인 아이디어를 통하여 표현하고 있다는 것을 발견하였다. 바흐의 성악음악에서 그의 세심한 작곡과정 외에 가사의 신학적인 논증만을 고집한다면 이는 그의 음악이 가지고 있는 변화시키는 힘(transfiguring power)에 대한 배신행위일 수 있는 것이다. In trying to interpret Bach's church music, it should be obvious that one needs to examine the theological circumstance in which the composer worked and the meaning of the poetic texts he set. In rushing to read Bach in this way, however, it can pervert the contents in which Bach originally wanted to express though music itself. What I’d like to explore today -in looking at a few arias from Bach’s St. John Passion- is how his music has an unusual way of overshadowing, sometimes even eclipsing, the explicit meanings of his texts. Taking a closer look at compositional process and its link with the poem set him, I’ll suggest why a theologically neutral look at Bach offers advantages in considering his ’poetics,’ his affinity for elaborately crafted music which can never be heard merely as enhancing the meaning of the accompanying words. In the aria of Haendel’s Julius Caesar, the convention of linking music and text was examined and compared it to those of Bach. By analyzing the ritornello structure of the arias, "Ach, Mein Sinn" and "Es ist vollbracht" in St. John Passion, it was found that Bach’s understanding of the concepts underlying the text was expressed not by the music accompanying the text but by the inventions of motivating the ritornello act. If only a theological demonstration is discussed in Bach’s vocal works other than his compositional details, it will be the betrayal of music’s transfiguring power in Bach.

This paper reports on a structural view of a knowledge network comprised of clubs and organisationsexpressly concerned with cultural activities in a regional Australian city. Social network analysis showed an uneven distribution of power, influence, and prominence in the network. The network structure consisted of two modules of vertices clustered around particular categories of creative arts and these modules were linked most frequently by several organisations acting as communication hubs and boundary spanners. The implications of the findings include ``network weaving`` for improving the network structure and developing a systemic approach for exploring the structures of social action that form community-based knowledge networks.

비(非) 스포츠 라이센스 제품과의 경쟁상황하에서 스포츠 라이센스 제품의 구매결정에 영향을 미치는 요인들에 관한 탐구

스포츠 시장에서 라이센스 제품은 비(非) 라이센스 제품과 경쟁한다. 따라서 비(非) 라이센스 제품과의 경쟁상황하에서 어떠한 요인들이 소비자로 하여금 라이센스 제품을 선택하도록 만드는가를 밝히는 것은 중요한 과제이다. 본 연구는 이러한 경쟁상황에서 라이센스 제품의 구매결정과 관련된 요인들의 상대적인 영향력을 밝히는데 그 목적이 있다. 문헌검토를 통해 9개의 요인들(현재 성적, 과거 성적, 팀 정체성, 감독, 스타선수, 좋은 기억, 구매목적, 성별, 가격)이 비(非) 라이센스 제품과의 경쟁상에서 라이센스 제품의 구매결정에 영향을 미칠 독립변인으로 상정되었으며, 이러한 구매결정에 있어 소비자가 두 제품에서 느끼는 실용적 가치(utilitarian value) 및 쾌락적 가치(hedonic value)가 부분적인 매개변인 역할을 할 것으로 예상되었다. 이러한 논지는 27가지의 실험조건을 반영한 시나리오 기법과 함께 3(현재 성적) × 3(과거 성적) × 2(팀 정체성) × 2(감독) × 2(스타선수) × 2(좋은 기억) × 3(구매목적) × 2(성별) × 3(가격) 불완전 블럭 디자인(incomplete block design)을 사용하여 검증되었다. 본 연구의 샘플은 648명의 미국 대학생이었으며, 매개변인(실용적 가치와 쾌락적 가치)에 대한 9개의 독립변인들의 영향력을 검증하기 위해 회귀분석이 실시되었다. 또한, 구매결정에 대한 실용적 가치 및 쾌락적 가치의 영향력을 검증하기 위해 회귀분석이 실시되었다. 마지막으로, 구매결정에 대한 9개의 독립변인들의 직접적인 영향력을 검증하기 위해 위계적 회귀분석(hierarchical regression)이 실시되었다. 연구 결과, 9개의 독립변인들은 직·간접적으로 또는 직접적으로 혹은 간접적으로 라이센스 제품의 구매결정에 영향을 미쳤으며, 따라서 실용적 가치 및 쾌락적 가치는 구매결정에 대한 독립변인들의 영향력을 부분적으로 매개한 것임이 밝혀졌다. 이러한 연구 결과는 라이센스 제품의 마케팅 전략 수립을 위한 유용한 토대를 제공할 것이다. Licensed products compete with their unlicensed counterparts. Thus, it is useful to know what would motivate a consumer to choose the licensed product rather than its unlicensed alternative. The purpose of this study is to identify the relative contribution that each of the factors identified in previous research makes to a consumer`s choice of sport licensed apparel over unlicensed apparel. Recent research suggests that current team performance, past team performance, fan identification, being a fan of the head coach, being a fan of a star player, fond memories, purpose of purchase (gift, game wear, other use), gender, and price, all affect the decision to choose a sport licensed product over its unlicensed alternative. The effect of these nine variables should be at least partially mediated through consumers`evaluation of the relative utilitarian and hedonic values of the product. These expectations and the relative main effect of each variable to purchase intention were tested using a 3 (team`s current performance) × 3 (team`s past performance) × 2 (fan identification) × 2 (fan of head coach) × 2 (fan of star player) × 2 (fond memories) × 3 (purpose of purchase) × 2 (gender) × 3 (price) incomplete block design with scenarios that represent 27 experimental conditions. The sample in this study was composed of 648 undergraduate students at a large public university in the United Sates. In order to examine whether the nine factors affect the relative perceived utilitarian and hedonic values, two regressions were conducted, and a regression was conducted to examine whether relative utilitarian and hedonic values predict purchase intention. Finally, a hierarchical regression was employed to investigate whether there are direct effects of the nine independent factors on purchase intention. Findings demonstrate that each variable did have a significant direct and/or indirect effect on purchase intention, and that the relative perceived utilitarian and hedonic values of the sport licensed product did partially mediate the effect of the nine variables. The findings will provide a deeper understanding of the choice of sport licensed products.

Expression of two-cold regulated genes of canola responding to cold acclimation

Cold acclimation increases freezing tolerance and the changes of gene expression may involve in the enhancement of freezing tolerance during cold acclimation. This study was conducted to determine the responses of two cold-regulated genes in canola (Brassica napus L.), BN28 and BN115, to cold acclimation and find out correlation between increasing of freezing tolerance and the expression of the genes. Six winter cultivars and one spring cultivar that had previously exhibited a broad range of winter survival were examined in a controlled environment chamber. Southern blot analysis revealed that the seven cultivars examined had the same copy number of BN28 and BN115. Northern blot analysis indicated that these genes were induced within one day by cold temperature and turned off immediately by deacclimation. Though time-course increase of transcript in one of the genes was highly correlated with the time-course increase of freezing tolerance, no correlation was found at the cultivar lever at specific time of measurement. However, this does not rule out the possible role of cold-regulated genes in freezing tolerance of canola.
