The 2<SUP>nd</SUP> Dolsan Bridge is the slender prestressed concrete cable-stayed bridge of edge girder type with a main span of 230m which is firstly applied in SouthKorea. The bridge has a l.50m deep beam with a width of 24.2m has two H-type pylon of a height of about 90m. The beam is built with cast-in-place concrete by free cantilevering form using a form traveler. The bridge was opened in August 2005, after a construction period of five years. In a free cantilever method when the form traveler is loaded by the concrete before curing, the crack due to negative moment can be taken place on the top of previous segment. The negative moment is controlled by various methods such as construction load, king post, and a temporary anchoring using permanent stay cable. In this paper, the reduction of the negative moment by a temporary anchoring with a permanent cable on the form traveler is mainly investigated and is also introduced to other methods.
