Corynebacterium species are non-fermentous Gram-positive bacilli that are normal flora of human skin and mucous membranes and are commonly isolated in clinical specimens. Non-diphtheriae Corynebacterium are regarded as contaminants when found in blood culture. Currently, Corynebacterium striatum is considered one of the emerging nosocomial agents implicated in endocarditis and serious infections. We report a case of native-valve infective endocarditis caused by C. striatum, which was misidentified by automated identification system but identified accurately by 16S ribosomal RNA sequencing, in a 55-year-old male patient. The patient had two mobile vegetations on his mitral valve, both of which had high embolic risk. Through surgical valve replacement and an antibiotic regimen, the patient recovered completely. In unusual clinical scenarios, C. striatum should not be simply dismissed as a contaminant when isolated from clinical specimens. The possibility of C. striatum infection should be considered even in an immunocompetent patient, and we suggest a genotypic assay, such as 16S rRNA sequencing, to confirm species identity.

Wireless mesh networks are considered a promising solution to last mile broadband. The unique characteristics of WMN impose unique requirements on designing routing protocols and metrics for WMN. However, existing routing schemes that are designed for single-channel multi-hop wireless networks may lead to inefficient routing paths in multichannel. This paper focuses on the routing problem for multi-radio multichannel WMNs. We list the challenges in designing routing algorithms for multi-radio multichannel WMNs. Then we examine the requirements and considerations for designing routing metrics according to the characteristics of multi-radio multichannel WMNs. Finally we survey and investigate the existing routing metrics in terms of their ability to satisfy these requirements.

Wireless Mesh Network (WMN) can be defined as a communication network consisting of radio nodes organized in a mesh topology, which has been attracting much attention due to its promising technology. This paper addressed the factors on how to design routing protocols for WMN. 2 examples of designing routing metric and routing algorithm are given for case study. With consideration of those factors such as wireless broadcast advantage (WBA)/channel assignment (CA) or intra-flow/inter-flow interference high throughput is achieved.

This paper proposes a channel diversity based load-balancing cross-layer routing scheme for Wireless Mesh Networks (WMNs). The proposed scheme deals with channel diversity phase and load balancing phase in WMNs. Channel diversity factor metricch-d and load balancing factor fload are defined and employed cooperatively as a combined path selection policy.

Multipath routing is proposed to perform better load balancing and to provide high fault tolerance. In this paper common factors on multi-path routing for WMNs are discussed and joint multi-channel and multipath routing approaches for load balancing are introduced at the same time. The key issues on how to design an effective multi-path routing protocol with appropriate performance metrics for WMNs are also discussed through the case studies in the paper
Understanding Channel-diversity Oriented Routing Metrics for Multicast in Wireless Mesh Networks
고휘 ( Hui Gao ),남지승 ( Ji-seung Nam ) 한국정보처리학회 2013 한국정보처리학회 학술대회논문집 Vol.20 No.1
Issues on design of routing scheme and routing metric for multicast in multi-channel multi-radio (MCMR) wireless mesh networks (WMNs) are discussed. Emphasis is placed on channel-diversity oriented routing metrics. From case study the conclusion to be drawn is that the key for design of channel-diversity oriented routing metrics is how to construct an optimization function to quantify interdependence between channel assignment and multicast routing throughput.

Research on 4A(Any-time, Any-where, Any-device, Any-contents) services for the next-generation multimedia services is developed with the trend of the integration of wire and wireless networks and the convergence of telecommunications and broadcasting. In this paper we proposed a design of SVC(Scalable Video Coding) overlay multicast mechanism which can provide typical next-generation multimedia services such as SVC streaming. A novel overlay multicast algorithm called ACK-Flow tree optimization algorithm is proposed to guarantee SVC streaming with high efficiency.

There has been growing interest in multicast technologies for wireless mesh networks with increasing demand for enjoying seamless multimedia broadcast service such as mobile IPTV anytime anywhere for any content on any device. This paper addressed the factors that should be considered when designing multicast algorithm in WMNs. Several routing metrics which are adapted for WMNs based multicast are described in detail to show that the main design goal for multicast metric is to achieve high throughput. Those metrics that take into account the characteristics of WMNs such as wireless broadcast advantage or channel diversity can arrange load balancing more effectively.
