A new implementation of a noise tracking filter is prposed to eliminate time-varying 60 Hz noise and its harmonics and baselins wandering in biological signals. This technique was applied to ECG. Filter's notch frequency could track the power line frequency well and it showed much better characteristics than the conventional method.

One of principal causes of car accidents is low arousal level of driver. Drivers arrive their destination under an appropriate arousal level. Basic research was done to develop a portable arousal monitor and to evaluate the arousal level of drivers. An arousal monitor which can simulantaneously measure the skin impedance change and EEG was designed and tested. The relationship among three parameters was studied and was used to determine the finder of skin impedance Level depending on arousal level.

This paper describes the results of study on the measurement method of TRMS (true root mean square value) In electrosurgical unit. We used three type (direct computing type, indirect computing type, thermal converting type) in the measurement of TRMS. Three types of measurement method were compared with respect to power level, frequencey and crest factor in addition to environmental temperature. In three of them, the thermal converting type was the best for th electrosurgical unit analyzer

To control arousal level using physiological index, electrodermal activity signal was detected and separated into skin impedance level and response. Arousal state decision and control algorithm was studied to implement and evaluate real time portable arousal control system. The implemented system can detect and control arousal state from initial drowsy state. This system oil be applicable to the evaluation of the effect of warning signal, driver`s drowsy detecting system, and sleep study.

This paper describes the measurement of tissue blood flow by the self-mixing effect of laser diode. A Laser doppler signals due to the moving object and the tissue blood flow were detected by the self-mixing effect of laser diode. The Doppler shifted frequency was changed linearly with the driving frequency of moving object and was increase after the exercise. The results of in-vivo experiment were consistent with the result of exercise physiology.

In this paper, the authors have implemented a blood flow simulator and a LDF(laser Doppler flowmeter) probe using self-mixing effect of the laser diode. The purpose of the blood flow simulator is to simulate microvascular blood flow in tissue. It consists of melinex film (thickness = 125 ㎛) which has similar optical characteristics to epidermis and porous polyethylene filter (Vyon, porosity 35%, mean pore size 50 ㎛, thickness=1 mm) which has similar optical characteristics to dermis. The blood flowmeter probe consists of laser diode(5 mW, 780 nm wavelength), CD lens(focal length 12 mm), current-to-voltage converter, highpass filter, and preamplifier. It doesn`t need optical fiber, therefore, implementation of the probe is simpler than conventional probe using optical fiber.

In this paper, we proposed the time scaling method for the ultrasonic aids for the blind. This system is simplified by using the analog delay line(BBD) for the time scaling of echo signals and the experimental results show the propsed method is superior to the conventional frequency mapping method.
