The availability of the thermal energy has been deeply recognized recently to encourage the cascade usage of thermal energy from combustion. Within the framework, a 1kW class Stirling engine based cogeneration system has been proposed for a unit of a distributed energy system. The capacity has been designed to be adequate for the domestic usage, which requires high compactness as well as low emissions and noise. To develop a highly efficient system satisfying these requirements, a premixed slit type short flame burner has been proposed and a series of numerical simulation has been performed to establish a design tool for the combustion chamber. Numerical analysis were compared the burner.

Operating medium or large scale industrial boilers in partial load condition, the burner should undergo the off-design points resulting in poor exhaust gas characteristics. To obtain the stable turn down performance, two or more burners can be used for the industrial boiler. In case multiple burners are adopted, the heat transfer can be enhanced by arranging the burners properly. In the present study, numerical simulations have been conducted for the combustion chamber of a 2 t/h class industrial boiler in order to clarify the heat transfer characteristics at the combustion chamber.

The goal of the present study is to develop a 1 ton/h-class chain stoker type wood pellet steam boiler. A series of investigations regarding combustion load characteristics of chain stoker type wood pellet steam boiler has been conducted. We have considered the load from 60% to 120%. The results show that a high temperature zone is at the entrance of the 2nd chamber for all combustion loads considered. The flame is stretched to the top of the 2nd chamber. The maximum efficiency is 85.1% at 100% load. The CO concentration in this case is 234 ppm. The exhaust gas oxygen concentration, the higher the exhaust gas temperature tends increased.
