Can Good Economic Relations Change Bad Political Relations Between India And China?

( Yogesh Kumar Gupta ) 인천대학교 사회과학연구원 2015 사회과학연구 Vol.7 No.-

India and China are among the leading economies of the world. Both nations are part of the BRICS- an acronym used for a group of fast growing economies as described by Goldman Sachs. They share a long territorial border and are home to ancient civilizations. However, political relations between them have often been troubled due to various contentious issues. In the latter part of the twentieth century India and China opted for increasing economic ties and their bilateral trade has grown many-fold in the last decade. The post Cold-War period has seen an especially swift turn around as far as the economies of these two nations is concerned. The continuous increase in their defense acquisitions has also complimented their financial growth resulting in changes in their international roles. Many theorists, therefore, have defined China and India as alternate poles of power. However, there are constraints and problems. For example, India still has unresolved territorial and other disputes with China, along with the challenges it is facing on the domestic front. China, on the other hand, cannot remain economically capitalist and politically communist. This paradox needs to be considered as well. There is the obvious question of whether better economic ties can change bad political relations between them. This paper seeks an answer to this question.

Clinical spectrum of elderly-onset inflammatory bowel disease in India

        Yogesh Kumar Gupta,Arshdeep Singh,Vikram Narang,Vandana Midha,Ramit Mahajan,Varun Mehta,Dharmatma Singh,Namita Bansal,Madeline Vithya Barnaba Durairaj,Amit Kumar Dutta,Ajit Sood 대한장연구학회 2023 Intestinal Research Vol.21 No.2

Background/Aims: Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is increasingly being recognized in elderly patients. Data on clinical spectrum of elderly-onset IBD patients is lacking from India. Methods: A cross-sectional retrospective analysis of a prospectively maintained database of patients diagnosed with IBD was conducted at 2 centers in India. The clinical spectrum of elderly-onset IBD including demographic profile (age and sex), clinical presentation, disease characteristics (disease behavior and severity, extent of disease), and treatment were recorded and compared with adult-onset IBD. Results: During the study period, 3,922 (3,172 ulcerative colitis [UC] and 750 Crohn’s disease [CD]) patients with IBD were recorded in the database. A total of 186 patients (4.74%; 116 males [62.36%]) had elderly-onset IBD (69.35% UC and 30.64% CD). Diarrhea, blood in stools, nocturnal frequency and pain abdomen were the commonest presentations for UC, whereas pain abdomen, weight loss and diarrhea were the most frequent symptoms in CD. For both elderly onset UC and CD, majority of the patients had moderately severe disease. Left-sided colitis was the commonest disease location in UC. Isolated ileal disease and inflammatory behavior were the most common disease location and behavior, respectively in CD. 5-Aminosalicylates were the commonest prescribed drug for both elderly onset UC and CD. Thiopurines and biologics were used infrequently. Prevalence of colorectal cancer was higher in elderly onset IBD. Conclusions: Elderly onset IBD is not uncommon in India. Both the elderly onset UC and CD were milder, with no significant differences in disease characteristics (disease extent, location and behavior) when compared to adult-onset IBD. Colorectal cancer was more common in elderly onset IBD.

On Robust Stability of the Systems

        Yogesh V. Hote,D. Roy Choudhury,J. R. P. Gupta 제어·로봇·시스템학회 2009 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.7 No.3

In this paper, to check robust stability for higher order interval systems a step-by-step procedure is presented using simple conditions, on the basis of Routh criterion. In this, it is pointed out that there is no need to apply Routh criterion to all the four Kharitonov’s polynomials in some class of control system problems, and hence reduces the computational cost. Numerical examples illustrate the procedure.

A Dynamic Approach to Estimate Change Impact using Type of Change Propagation

Gupta, Chetna,Singh, Yogesh,Chauhan, Durg Singh Korea Information Processing Society 2010 Journal of information processing systems Vol.6 No.4

Software evolution is an ongoing process carried out with the aim of extending base applications either for adding new functionalities or for adapting software to changing environments. This brings about the need for estimating and determining the overall impact of changes to a software system. In the last few decades many such change/impact analysis techniques have been developed to identify consequences of making changes to software systems. In this paper we propose a new approach of estimating change/impact analysis by classifying change based on type of change classification e.g. (a) nature and (b) extent of change propagation. The impact set produced consists of two dimensions of information: (a) statements affected by change propagation and (b) percentage i.e. statements affected in each category and involving the overall system. We also propose an algorithm for classifying the type of change. To establish confidence in effectiveness and efficiency we illustrate this technique with the help of an example. Results of our analysis are promising towards achieving the aim of the proposed endeavor to enhance change classification. The proposed dynamic technique for estimating impact sets and their percentage of impact will help software maintainers in performing selective regression testing by analyzing impact sets regarding the nature of change and change dependency.

Kharitonov’s Theorem and Routh Criterion for Stability Margin of Interval Systems

        Yogesh V. Hote,J. R. P. Gupta,D. Roy Choudhury 제어·로봇·시스템학회 2010 International Journal of Control, Automation, and Vol.8 No.3

In this paper, it is shown that the gain margin and phase margin of interval system can be determined analytically using Kharitonov’s theorem and V. Krishnamurthi’s corollary on Routh criterion without using graphical and iterative techniques. Further, it is proved that the existing results of Anderson et al. [2] on the stability of low-order interval systems using Kharitonov’s theorem are only applicable for absolute stability of the interval system and it is not applicable for relative stability of the interval systems, i.e., for phase margin. The proposed technique and stability analysis for low-order interval systems are verified with examples.

Embryonic Zebrafish Model - A Well-Established Method for Rapidly Assessing the Toxicity of Homeopathic Drugs - Toxicity Evaluation of Homeopathic Drugs Using Zebrafish Embryo Model -

Gupta, Himanshu R,Patil, Yogesh,Singh, Dipty,Thakur, Mansee KOREAN PHARMACOPUNCTURE INSTITUTE 2016 Journal of pharmacopuncture Vol.19 No.4

Objectives: Advancements in nanotechnology have led to nanoparticle (NP) use in various fields of medicine. Although the potential of NPs is promising, the lack of documented evidence on the toxicological effects of NPs is concerning. A few studies have documented that homeopathy uses NPs. Unfortunately, very few sound scientific studies have explored the toxic effects of homeopathic drugs. Citing this lack of high-quality scientific evidence, regulatory agencies have been reluctant to endorse homeopathic treatment as an alternative or adjunct treatment. This study aimed to enhance our insight into the impact of commercially-available homeopathic drugs, to study the presence of NPs in those drugs and any deleterious effects they might have, and to determine the distribution pattern of NPs in zebrafish embryos (Danio rerio). Methods: Homeopathic dilutions were studied using high-resolution transmission electron microscopy with selected area electron diffraction (SAED). For the toxicity assessment on Zebrafish, embryos were exposed to a test solution from 4 - 6 hours post-fertilization, and embryos/larvae were assessed up to 5 days post-fertilization (dpf ) for viability and morphology. Toxicity was recorded in terms of mortality, hatching delay, phenotypic defects and metal accumulation. Around 5 dpf was found to be the optimum developmental stage for evaluation. Results: The present study aimed to conclusively prove the presence of NPs in all high dilutions of homeopathic drugs. Embryonic zebrafish were exposed to three homeopathic drugs with two potencies (30CH, 200CH) during early embryogenesis. The resulting morphological and cellular responses were observed. Exposure to these potencies produced no visibly significant malformations, pericardial edema, and mortality and no necrotic and apoptotic cellular death. Conclusion: Our findings clearly demonstrate that no toxic effects were observed for these three homeopathic drugs at the potencies and exposure times used in this study. The embryonic zebrafish model is recommended as a well-established method for rapidly assessing the toxicity of homeopathic drugs.

New Approach for Stability of Perturbed DC-DC Converters

        Yogesh V. Hote,D. Roy Choudhury,J. R. P. Gupta 전력전자학회 2009 JOURNAL OF POWER ELECTRONICS Vol.9 No.1

In this paper, a simple technique is presented for robust stability testing of perturbed DC-DC converters having multi-linear uncertainty structure. This technique provides a necessary and sufficient condition for testing robust stability. It is based on the corollary of Routh criterion and gridding of parameters. The previous work based on parametric control theory using Kharitonov’s theorem and Hermite Biehler theorem gives conservative results and only the sufficient condition of stability, whereas the proposed method provides the necessary and sufficient condition for testing robust stability and it is computationally efficient. The superiority of the method is compared with the Edge theorem.

      • Size-dependent vibration response of porous graded nanostructure with FEM and nonlocal continuum model

        Kumar, Yogesh,Gupta, Ankit,Tounsi, Abdelouahed Techno-Press 2021 Advances in nano research Vol.11 No.1

In the present paper, a refined trigonometric higher-order shear deformation theory has been presented with the conjunction of nonlocal theory for the vibrational response of functionally graded (FG) porous nanoplate. The displacement field is chosen based on assumptions that the out of the plane displacement consists of bending and shear components whereas the transverse shear-strain has nonlinear variation along the thickness direction. The number of unknown variables is four, as against five in other renowned shear deformation theories. The governing equations have been derived using Hamilton's principle. A generalized porosity model has also been developed to accommodate both even and uneven type of distribution of porosity in the FG nanoplates. The closed-form solution of simply-supported FG porous nanoplates is obtained and the results are compared with the available reported results. In finite element solution, a C0 continuous isoparametric quadrilateral element has been used with various conventional and unconventional boundary conditions. The effects of various parameters like small-scale effect, aspect ratio, volume fraction index, porosity volume fraction, and thickness ratio have been investigated. The significant influence of small-scale effects and porosity inclusions have been observed in the reported results. It has been reported that both closed-form and finite element solutions with the present theory can make accurate predictions of the free vibration response.
