<P>In order to investigate discrimination between nuclear recoil and electron recoil events for the KIMS-NaI dark matter search experiment, we measured the pulse shapes produced by neutrons and gamma rays in a NaI(Tl) crystal. Relatively good pulse shape discrimination (PSD) power due to high light output of recently developed crystals makes it possible to test whether the annual modulation signal observed by the DAMA/LIBRA experiment is caused by nuclear recoil events. We applied the PSD to underground data taken with a 9.15 kg low-background and high-light-output NaI(Tl) crystal for 134 days. Good agreement between underground data and electron recoil events was observed.</P>

우리나라에 있어서 都市廢棄物의 主인 糞尿와 固形廢棄物의 太宗인 無煙炭재를 同時에 效果的으로 處理할 수 있고 또한 堆肥化시킬 수 있는 好氣性 酸化方式의 最適條件을 얻기 위하여 生糞尿 및 煉炭재의 理化學的 및 生物學的 數値를 測定하고 이를 基礎로하여 上記 兩者를 混合處理 할수 있는 消化條件(溫度, 糞尿와 煉炭재의 配合比, 기타 固形物의 添加量, 注入되는 空氣量의 變化)에 따른 C.O.D., B.O.D.의 變化, 水分 및 電氣傳導度의 變化, 熱灼減量, N量의 變化 等을 硏究하였으며 이들 사이의 相關關係를 檢討하여 다음과 같은 結論을 얻었다. 1. 生糞尿에 固形廢棄物인 煉炭재나 紙類를 配合시켜 消化시키므로서 케이크속의 질소成分의 量을 增加 시킬수 있다. 2. 煉炭재의 配合은 糞尿의 消化速度를 增加 시킨다. 3. 糞尿의 處理를 위한 反應槽의 溫度는 50℃보다 60℃로 維持 시킬때 消化速度가 크다. 4. 反應槽의 溫度를 一定하게 했을때 空氣의 注入速度는 初期 反應時는 적게하고 後期 反應時는 크게 함이 效果的 이다. For the effective treatment and usable disposal of urban wastes in the area of Busan city, the composition of the nightsoil and anthracite bulky ash which is the main munic ipal solid wastes have been studied on the digestion of the compositive mixtures with the variable conditions that are ratio of compounding between nightsoil and ash, amount of solid additives and volume of air for the effective airation at 50, 65℃. The digestion has been detected by the physico-chemical and biological data; pH, specific gravity, content of moisture, C.O.D., B.O.D., electroconductance of the solution of the results, decrease of nition, and volume of total free nitrogen etc. The results are obtained as follows. 1) The characteristics of domestic nightsoil are different to the foreign data as table 5, but the data of anthracite ash almost are same except the composition of Fe₂O₃ and Al₂O₃. 2) Amount of total free nitrogen are increased by the digestion with the addition of solid waste, as effective absorption, to the nightsoil. 3) The digestion are accelerated by the compounding of ash, but the adding of sulfuric acid to fix the free ammonia reduced reaction. 4) The airation have to proceed slowly at initial step, and then endure enough volume of air at the later step.

Recurrent mandibular dislocation is frequent morbidity of temporomandibular joint relatively. There are many etiologic causes in TMJ disorders but, difficult to find obvious one. Various treatment methods have been utilized for a mandibular dislocation. It is categorized into two groups broadly - nonsurgical or surgical methods. The basic rationale of the surgical method is to allow free movement of the condyle by reducing height of articular eminence or to limit anterior excessive movement of the condyle by increasing height of articular eminence or soft tissue anchoring procedure. In this case, 69 year-old woman was treated by augmentation of the articular eminence with mandibular symphysial bone graft leading to osteosynthesis without difficulty. As a result, favorable postoperative outcome was obtained functionally without any complication or recurrence.

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Herein, we report a novel strategy to promote electrochemical oxygen evolution reaction (OER) on cobalt (Co) surface by coupling Co to molybdenum carbide (Mo<SUB>2</SUB>C). Chemically coupled Co and Mo<SUB>2</SUB>C nanoparticles were synthesized through a simple heat treatment of the mixture containing Co and Mo precursors and graphitic carbon nitride (g-C<SUB>3</SUB>N<SUB>4</SUB>). Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) images obviously showed that Co and Mo<SUB>2</SUB>C nanoparticles were coupled at Co/Mo<SUB>2</SUB>C interfaces. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and density functional theory (DFT) calculation results revealed that electrons were transferred from Co to Mo<SUB>2</SUB>C nanoparticles across the interfaces. The electron transfer makes the Co surface more electrophilic by <I>d</I>-band center of Co upshift, leading to an increase in OH<SUP>−</SUP> affinity. As a result, the Co nanoparticles coupled with Mo<SUB>2</SUB>C have OER-favorable Co-oxo and Co-hydroxo configuration within their oxidized surfaces, and hence, can accelerate the overall OER than bare Co nanoparticles. This work demonstrates that the Co nanoparticles chemically coupled to Mo<SUB>2</SUB>C exhibited excellent OER activity and stability in an alkaline electrolyte and suggests a promising way to design an active OER catalyst.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> A chemically coupled Co and Mo<SUB>2</SUB>C nanoparticles is designed for alkaline OER catalyst. </LI> <LI> Chemical coupling of Co and Mo<SUB>2</SUB>C leads to electron transfer from Co to Mo<SUB>2</SUB>C. </LI> <LI> This electron transfer makes Co surface more electrophilic by <I>d</I>-band center of Co upshift. </LI> <LI> Electrophilic Co surface leads to the formation of OER-active Co-oxo/hydroxo subunits. </LI> <LI> Therefore, the Co nanoparticles coupled to Mo<SUB>2</SUB>C exhibited high OER activity. </LI> </UL> </P> <P><B>Graphical abstract</B></P> <P>[DISPLAY OMISSION]</P>

2015년 8월 3일부터 5일까지 한국거미연구회 회원들은 강원도 삼척시 육백산을 채집 조사한 결과 22과 49속 63종이 채집 조사되어 이에 보고하는 바이다. The authors investigated the spiders of the Mt. Yukbaek from August 3th to August 5th, 2015. In the present paper 63 species of 49 genera belong to 22 families were identified. These specimens are deposited at the Joo-Pil Spider Museum, Namyangju-Si, Gyeonggi-Do.

The authors investigated the spiders of the Upo wetland from 5th August to 7th August, 2014. In the present paper 69 species of 48 genera belong to 16 families were identified. 저자들은 2015년 2월 22일부터 6월 20일까지 주야로 인천 송도 국제도시 일대를 채집 조사한 결과 20과 43속 50종을 보고 발표한다. 특히, Xysticus sp. nov, Gnathonarium exsiccatum (마른황갈애접시거미, 신칭)과 같은 게거미과의 신종과 접시거미과의 미기록종이 발견된 것은 큰 수확으로 별도 기재 보고 하고자 한다. A new technical method using bone plugs with oblique posterior interbody fusion(OPIF) was designed to increase the fusion rate. One hundred-seventy-five patients were operated for lumbar instability between November 1990 and December 2000. The L5/S1 segment was affected in 129 cases(74%) of the patients. Oblique posteior interbody fusion with bone plugs by unilateral approach was performed in all patients. Eight-nine percent of these patients showed good surgical results. This stable transplant interbody fusion has the several advantages. Foreign substance is not used and this method increases fusion rate and cost-effective. OPIF using bone plugs along with Oh's screw could provide sufficient stability for segmental instability of the lumbar spine including spondylolisthesis of the lumbar spine, with or without concurrent herniated intervertebral disc or spondylotic narrowing.
