공감교육 프로그램이 초등학생의 공감능력과 정서지능에 미치는 영향 = The Effects of Empathy Education Program on Children`s Empathy Ability and Emotional Intelligence

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of the empathy education program on children`s empathy ability and emotional intelligence. The subjects of this study were 2 classes from third grade of C elementary school in Seoul. One class(30 students) was placed in an experimental group and the other class(30 students) was placed in a control group. The research design of this study is based on a pre-test and a post-test between the both groups. With the test data, the students feedbacks were collected to identify the subjects` responds to the program. The quantitative results of this study are as follows: First, compared to the control group, the experimental group that participated in the empathy education program showed a significant improvement in empathy ability and its some sub-factors(cognitional empathy, communicative empathy). Second, compared to the control group, the experimental group that participated in the empathy education program showed a significant improvement in emotional intelligence and its some sub-factors(emotional perception and expression, emotional facilitation of thought, and understanding and analyzing emotion). These results were supported and intensified by qualitative data based on comment papers and questionnaire. This study shows that the empathy education program can be an effective tool for the improvement of emotional intelligence.
