내현적 자기애와 청소년의 우울 및 자기효능감 간의 관계 = A relation of covert narcissism to depression and self-efficacy of adolescents

The aim of this study is to examine a relation of covert narcissism to depression and self-efficacy of adolescents. Out of 450 second and third grade high school students participated in a questionnaire in Jeollanam-do and Gwangju Metropolitan City, 425 students were subjected to the study excluding 25 respondents who left many questions unanswered or lacked in sincerity. The research tasks for analysis were as follows: first, to examine a relation of the covert narcissism to depression and self-efficacy of adolescents; second, to identify a factor with the highest explainability for depression and self-efficacy of adolescents among sub-factors of the covert narcissism; third, to identify differences in depression and self-efficacy between two groups whose covert narcissism was high and low. To achieve such goals of the research tasks analysis were applied with the statistic program SPSS 14.0. The results of the study are as follows. First, there was a significant positive correlation between covert narcissism and depression and a significant negative correlation between covert narcissism and self-efficacy. Second, among sub-factors of the covert narcissism, depression manifested itself in insecurity in goals, over-sensitivity/weakness, and exploitation/egocentricity. Moreover a general self-efficacy manifested itself in insecurity in goals, desire for recognition/grandiose self-fantasy, exploitation/egocentricity, and timidity/lack of self-confidence. A social self-efficacy manifested itself in desire for recognition/grandiose self-fantasy and timidity/lack of self-confidence. Third, the higher one's covert narcissism was, the lower self-efficacy appeared and the higher depression appeared.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 내현적 자기애와 청소년의 우울 및 자기효능감 간의 관계를 알아보기 위해 실시되었다. 연구대상은 전라남도와 광주광역시에 소재한 고등학교 2, 3학년 450명 중 미기재 응답이 많거나 불성실하게 응답한 25명을 제외한 425명이다. 연구문제는 첫째, 내현적 자기애와 청소년의 우울 및 자기효능감 간의 관계는 어떠한가, 둘째, 내현적 자기애의 하위요인 중 청소년의 우울과 자기효능감에 대해 설명력이 있는 요인은 무엇인가, 셋째, 내현적 자기애 수준이 높은 집단과 낮은 집단은 우울 및 자기효능감에서 집단간 차이가 있는가이다. 이를 알아보기 위해 SPSS 14.0 통계프로그램을 이용하여 분석하였고, 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 내현적 자기애와 우울은 정적 상관이었고, 내현적 자기애와 자기효능감은 부적 상관이었다. 둘째, 내현적 자기애의 하위요인 중 목표불안정과 과민/취약성, 착취/자기중심성이 우울에 대해 유의미하였다. 또한, 목표불안정, 인정욕구/거대자기환상, 착취/자기중심성, 소심/자신감 부족이 일반적 자기효능감에 대해 유의미하였으며, 인정욕구/거대자기환상, 소심/자신감 부족이 사회적 자기효능감에 대해 유의미하였다. 셋째, 내현적 자기애가 높은 집단과 낮은 집단간에 우울과 자기효능감의 점수는 유의미한 차이가 있었다.
