1930년대 아시아적 생산양식 논쟁과 이청원의 과학적 조선학 연구 = A Study On the Argements of ‘the Asiatic Mode of Production’ in the 1930s and Lee Chung-Won’s ‘the Scientific Chosun Studies’

This paper aims to explain how the theory of the Asiatic mode of production(AMP) had on influence on ‘the Scientific Chosun Studies’ of 1930s, by studying Lee Chung-Won’s academic work, centering the debate for the theory.
Originally, the theory was arisen not for the academic explanation, but for the strategic re-quest for revolution. However, in Asia, while the discussion for the theory was being com-bined with such historic and regional elements as pedigree of 'Korean Studies Movement' lasting from the early modern times, realization for the transition period triggered from the Great Depression and the acceptation of Marxism that has been considered as almost a true theory, it has become rather a theory for the theoretical and academic explanation.
Under the influence of the theory of Capitalism 3.0 and Thesis on Korea(1928) of Comintern, he has focused on the Marxian Economics, and based on this, the scholar mixed the theory of the AMP and the economic history of Chosun to put his name in the Chosun’s academic field. His academic work, based on the theory of AMP, was to set up a possibility of a future revolution by understanding the history of Chosun as the modified version of the feudal system, which is not isolated from the history of the world. However, while he was embracing the theory that emphasizes the slow development speed of Asian society, he also had to have a distance from the argument of Japanese government scholar rationalizing colonial administration, and Chosun’s scholar of anti-national university rais-ing the spirit of nationalism by analyzing culture in the anti-historic way, and this circum-stance has lead his way of narration the history of Chosun to describing it as a socially and culturally retarded one. This narration was understood as a concept based on the economic determinism, but it actually was changed and appropriation in the composition of Chosun’s conference.
This paper aims to make a full discussion of the theory of AMP in the Korea’s colonial pe-riod through the above arguments, and has its significance in studying its diagram and the area of its influence.
