전통문양을 활용한 패턴 디자인 수업지도방안 연구 = A Research on Guidance Methods in A Pattern Design Class Using Traditional Patterns

국문 초록 (Abstract)

국제화·세계화 시대를 맞이하여 우리 문화에 대한 자긍심은 물론 문화적 정체성 확립에 대한 관심이 과거 어느 때보다 높아지고 있다. 이에 전통문화를 이해하고 계승하는 일은 우리 민족의 생활 정서나 의식 속에 흐르는 잠재된 미의식을 개발하는 일이다. 이에 본 연구자는 무엇보다 전통문화에 바탕을 둔 구체적인 교수·학습지도계획과 방법 연구의 필요성을 절감한다. 또한 학습자들의 이를 디자인 요소로 활용하고 창의적 활동에 관련한 수업에 체계적으로 적용·활용하는 프로그램 계발이 중요하다고 보았다. 또한 패턴 디자인은 특정 문양이 반복적으로 사용되는 디자인으로 자유롭게 아이디어를 묘사하는 예술적인 디자인과는 달리 사물을 단순화시키고 반복적으로 표현하는 디자인으로 전통 문양을 현대적으로 해석하고 활용하기에 가장 적합한 표현 대상이라고 할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 전통 문양을 현대의 디자인에 접목시키는 교육의 필요성을 인식하여, 학습자들로 하여금 전통 문양을 새롭게 표현활동에 활용하고자 한다. 각 문양을 패턴별로 분류하여 활용적 측면에서 현대적 재해석을 통해 패턴 디자인에 접목시키는 능력을 기르는 디자인 교육 프로그램을 개발하고자 한다.
이를 위한 연구 내용은 다음과 같다.
문헌연구를 통해 전통문양의 개념 및 분류와 상징성과 패턴 디자인의 이론 및 원리에 대해 고찰하였다. 이러한 이론적 배경을 토대로 현재 전문계 고등학교 디자인과 고등학교 교과서를 분석하여 디자인과 수업에서 이루어지는 전통문양을 활용한 패턴 디자인 수업에 대한 내용을 분석하였으며 이를 바탕으로 전통문양을 디자인 기본 요소와 원리에 따라 재해석하여 활용 가능한 방법을 연구하였다. 수업의 실제에 앞서서는 전통문양을 활용한 패턴 디자인 교수·학습의 방향과 수업 지도 모형을 탐색하고 전통문양을 활용한 새로운 문양 디자인 수업지도 모형을 설계하였다. 그리고 전통문양을 활용한 패턴 디자인 교수·학습 방법을 제시하여 실제 수업을 진행한 수업결과물 을 분석하였다. 모형에 대한 평가 및 교육적 기대 효과를 제시하였고, 마지막으로 본 연구의 내용과 결과를 요약 정리하여 종합적 결론을 맺고 이를 바탕으로 향후 연구 방향과 과제를 제시하였다.
전통문양을 활용한 패턴 디자인 수업지도를 실행하여 다음과 같은 결론에 이르게 되었다. 첫째, 본 수업지도 방안 활용에 의해 학습자들에게 전통문화와 전통문양에 대한 흥미와 현대적 디자인에서 전통이 가지는 가치에 대한 새로운 시각이 생겨난 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 본 수업을 통해 학습자들이 전통문양을 활용하는 능력이 향상된 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 능력의 향상은 단지 패턴 디자인에 전통문양을 활용하는 것에 국한되지 않고, 전통문양을 다양한 형태의 다른 디자인에 활용하는 능력 또한 향상될 것으로 기대된다. 셋째, 본 수업지도 방안의 적용으로 디자인 요소별 형태분석과 디자인 원리를 이용한 아이디어 발상법으로 창의적인 문양 디자인에 도움이 되었을 뿐 아니라 활용된 전통문양을 다양한 디자인에 대입해 봄으로써 아이디어를 디자인에 시각화할 수 있는 디자인 시각화 능력이 향상되었다.
이상과 같이 전통 문양을 활용한 패턴 디자인 수업 지도 방안은 학습자들에게 전통에 대한 새로운 시각을 부여해 주고 전통 문양의 활용 방법에 대한 능력 향상 및 디자인 영역에 적용시킬 수 있는 능력에 대한 가능성을 높여주고 학습자들의 능동적이고 적극적인 학습 태도의 변화를 기대할 수 있다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

In the international and global age, the pride of our culture and concerns about establishment of identify are getting higher. At this point, understanding traditional culture and succeeding to it are to develop latent aesthetic senses in living emotion of our nation and senses. Therefore, the researcher felt that studies on specific guidance plans and methods based on traditional culture are needed, and considered that learners need to use traditional culture as design elements and develop programs to apply them to design class for an creative activity. Also, because, pattern design simplifies objects and expresses them repeatedly, differently from artistic design, which describes ideas freely by using special patterns repeatedly, it was selected as the best expression object to analyze and use traditional patterns modernly.
This study targets developing design educational programs to improve skills to apply traditional patterns to pattern design by making students understand of traditional patterns conceptionally, classifying each pattern and re-interpreting them modernly. In order to perform the study, by referring to literatures and previous studies of scholars, the concept, classification and symbolism of traditional pattern, and theory and principles of pattern design were theoretically examined. Then, based on such theoretical backgrounds, by analyzing design textbooks used in vocational high school, pattern design class was analyzed to show how it is performed using traditional patterns. In addition, traditional patterns were re-interpreted according to basic elements of design and principles to seek for guidance methods available in a practical class.
Ahead of a practical class, approaches of guidance models in a pattern design class using traditional patterns were set up and new guidance models were designed. And by suggesting pattern design's teaching methods using traditional patterns, results of a practical class and guidance models were assessed and educational effects were proposed. Finally, after summarizing and arranging the results of the study, the researcher made a conclusion as a whole and proposed directions and challenges of future studies based on the results.
The results of the guidance in a pattern design class using traditional patterns are as following.
First, by using guidance methods that this research suggests, learners became interested in traditional culture and traditional patterns, and understood values of our tradition in modern design with new points of view.
Second, learners' abilities to use traditional patterns were improved through this class. It is expected that improvement of these abilities will encourage students in applying traditional patterns to other designs with a variety of forms, not being limited to simply applying traditional patterns to pattern design.
Third, applying these guidance methods to a practical class not only helped students make creative pattern design with many ideas using analysis of each design element and design theories, but to improve their skills to visualize design by substituting traditional patterns for diverse designs.
In conclusion, guidance methods in a pattern design class using traditional patterns can give learners new views of tradition, improve their abilities to use traditional patterns and increase possibilities to apply them to other designs. Therefore, it is expected that learners' behaviors in a design class would changed actively and positively using these guidance methods.
