As consumers' concern about environment and green consumers increase, environment-related goods are also under development in various ways. Consumers are showing their efforts to participate in large and small scaled ways of environmental protection with the imension of hard work for their next generation, starting from the easiest work. In this study, the concept and definition of eco-bag for multiple use, which is made of eco-friendly materials such as cotton for natural dissolution, hemp, linen, silk, decomposable Polyester, etc., were investigated together with evolution process after first introduction in 2007 and current visual status while visual types were categorized into elements of purchase criteria for consumers. And we intend to investigate and analyze patterns of purchase selection and visual preference of eco-bag based on value pursued by consumers. After visual pattern of eco-bag was separated into six types such as illustration-oriented, character-oriented, brand logo type-oriented, typography-oriented, mixture of illustration and typography, celebrities' participation-oriented patterns, differences in preference and selection were examined after measuring value pursued by consumers. After investigating case-studies of these separate patterns, visual preference and validity of purchase selection were examined after measuring three values of consumers such as self-oriented, third party-oriented, and environment-oriented values. There are mainly four research topics which are about cognitive response of consumers to environment, attitude and purchase intention of consumers about eco-bag, prioritized value in eco-bag selection, visual preference and selection pattern. Regarding the results of hypothesis testing on research topics, it was observed that consumers prefer and purchase eco-bag which is an environmental product by self-oriented value, not third party or environment oriented values. Thus, consumers prioritize self-oriented, environment-oriented, and third party-oriented values in order to pursue their value, and the associated pattern of eco-bag in their preference was shown to be celebrities' participation-oriented, brand logo type-oriented, typography-oriented, mixture of illustration and typography, illustration-oriented, character-oriented patterns in order. Regarding selection pattern, self-oriented consumers as their priority to pursue was shown to prioritize and select celebrities' participation-oriented, brand logo type-oriented, typography-oriented, mixture of stration and typography, illustration-oriented, and character- iented patterns in order. It was shown that environment-oriented consumers as their second ranked pursuit also prioritize and select the same pattern as self-oriented consumers do. Moreover, third party-oriented consumers as their least pursuit showed some small difference from the above two cases. It was shown that the highest rank is brand logo type oriented pattern, and the next one is celebrities' participation-oriented pattern. From these results, it was shown that consumers pursue the self-oriented value the most and, as a result, choose visual thing of eco-bag while as they pursue third party-oriented value further, they prefer visual pattern recognizable by others and having awareness like brand logo type-oriented pattern. It was predicted to be further clarified along with further velopment of eco-bag and diversification of visual expressions. While this study examined visual part of eco-bag, we expect that as other elements of eco-bag like materials and types are developed over time, preference and selection pattern for purchase with value pursued by consumers will evolve, and sequentially more concrete and active research work will continue.
