부모의 사회경제적 지위, 가정 및 학교 내 사회자본, 학업성취 간 구조적 관계 분석: 가족구조에 따른 차이를 중심으로 = Structural relationships between parental socioeconomic status, social capital in the family and at school, and academic achievement: Focusing on varying relationships according to family structure

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Drawing on first wave data from Seoul Education Longitudinal Study(SELS), we examined the structural relationships between parental socioeconomic status, social capital in the family and at school, and academic achievement focusing on varying relationships by family structure using the structural equation modeling(SEM). Our SEM results showed that while parental education exerted a significant impact on students’ academic achievement, it had little to do with parent-child relationships, trust in teachers, and peer relationships. Household income had a significant effect on parent-child relationships and academic achievement, but it did not have an impact on trust in teachers and peer relationships. While parent-child relationships were strongly associated with trust in teachers, peer relationships, and academic achievement, both trust in teachers and peer relationships also exerted a positive effect on academic achievement. Meanwhile, it was proven that students from a two-parent family exhibited higher academic achievement and parental socioeconomic status than their counterparts from a single-parent family. Finally, the results from multi-group analysis showed that the structural relationships between parental socioeconomic status, social capital in the family and at school, and academic achievement did indeed vary according to family structure.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 서울교육종단연구(SELS) 1차년도 중학생 데이터를 사용하여 부모의 사회경제적 지위, 가정 및 학교 내 사회자본, 학업성취 간 구조적 관계를 고찰하고, 이러한 관계가 가족구조에 따라 어떻게 달라지는지 살펴보고자 수행되었다. 이를 위해 본 연구에서는 구조방정식 모형을 사용하여 분석을 실시하였다. 분석 결과, 보호자 학력은 자녀의 학업성취에만 유의미한 효과를 발휘하고, 부모-자녀 관계, 교사에 대한 신뢰, 교우관계에는 유의미한 영향을 미치지 않았다. 가구소득은 부모-자녀 관계와 학업성취에 가시적인 효과를 발휘하는 반면, 교사에 대한 신뢰나 교우관계에는 의미 있는 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 드러났다. 부모-자녀 관계는 교사에 대한 신뢰, 교우관계, 학업성취 모두에 강력한 정적 효과를 발휘하였고, 교사에 대한 신뢰 및 교우관계도 학업성취에 유의미한 정적 효과를 갖는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 한편 가족구조별 비교 분석 결과는 양친가정 학생들이 한부모가정 학생들보다 학업성취에서 우위에 있고 부모의 사회경제적 지위도 높음을 보여주었다. 마지막으로 다집단분석을 수행한 결과, 양친가정에서는 보호자 학력이 학업성취에 강력한 정적 효과를 발휘하는 반면, 한부모가정에서는 보호자 학력과 학업성취 간에 의미 있는 연관성이 없는 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 양친가정에서는 가구소득이 교사에 대한 신뢰에 정적 효과를 갖지만, 한부모가정에서는 오히려 가구소득이 교사에 대한 신뢰에 부적 효과를 발휘하는 것으로 판명되었다.
