樊巖 蔡濟恭의 疏箚類 글쓰기 연구 -災異로 인한 疏箚類를 중심으로- = A Study on the Socharyu(疏箚類) Writingby Beonam(樊巖) Chae Je-gong(蔡濟恭) -Focusing on the Socharyu(疏箚類) by natural calamity-

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This thesis is a study of the writing method of Socharyu(疏箚類) writing by Chae Je-gong (蔡濟恭, 1720-1799), known by the pen-name Beonam(樊巖).
The genre of socha (疏箚) was written by a retainer Beonam in response to the king’s inquiry of the current natural calamity when the king asked Beoman for his opinion. The socha has a regular pattern in the motive, composition, and method of the writing. However, each writer differed in where to find the cause of the natural calamity, how to solve it, and what they ultimately claimed by using the disaster. In addition, the accompanying writing method also demonstrates various aspects. Also, the core of the writing was: to argue for a way to stop natural calamity, or to make use of natural calamity that occurred 'at the right time' or 'accidentally' to suggest his own argument. If so, the purpose of this writing was to persuade the king, and in order to persuade the king as effectively as possible, they should devise their own writing method or strategies for persuasion.
The methods of writing outstandng works or the strategy for persuasion employed in one sochryu writing, titled Inhongbyeongeolmyeoncha(因虹變乞免箚) are: the effect of foreshadowing or suggestion, the effect of reinforcing the argument by arranging key words, the use of existing regulations and usages as grounds for an argument, as well as the strategy for seeking sympathy by appealing to emotions. In another socharyu writing titled Inloeijinsipye- gyeomgeolhaejigcha(因雷異陳時弊兼乞解職箚), we can confirm that the strategies for persuasion through building consensus were employed in it: firstly, making a proactive statement of an experience shared between the persuader and the target of persuasion made the retainer’s following argument or suggestion hit home; secondly, both arrangement of the key words and ideas and the use of gradation and linking to construct logic made his writing more effectively persuasive.
Dongloehujeongwongyesa(冬雷後政院啓辭) is another socha writing, which Beonam composed and offered to the king presenting the Seungjeongwon(承政院) when he was posted to the office. Although there is a different nature, compared with the above-mentioned two works. Although it is different from them in form, it is basically a socha writing written in response to the king’s inquiry of the current natural calamity. In this writing, the natural disaster was compared to the king's personality matter, and in this process, the writer’s persuasive power proved to be enhanced so as to effectively persuade the king, the target of persuasion.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 논문은 樊巖 蔡濟恭(1720∼1799)이 작성한 疏箚類를 대상으로 그 글쓰기 방식을 고찰한 글이다.
災異가 발생하여 군주가 求言하고 이에 응하여 작성하는 소차류 역시 작성 동기, 글의 구성이나 글쓰기 방식이 패턴화되어 있기는 하지만, 재이의 원인을 어디에서 찾고, 재이를 해결할 방안이 무엇인지를 피력하고, 재이라는 현상을 활용하여 궁극적으로 무엇을 주장하는지는 작성자마다 다를 뿐만 아니라 이에 수반하는 글쓰기의 방식 또한 다양한 양상을 보이는 게 사실이다. 또한 이러한 글의 핵심은 군주의 구언에 응해 재이를 그치게 할 수 있는 방안을 주장하거나 ‘때마침’ㆍ‘우연히’ 발생한 재이를 활용하여 자신의 주장을 건의하는 것이다. 그렇다면 이러한 글의 목적은 군주를 대상으로 한 설득에 있는 것이고, 최대한 효과적으로 군주를 설득하기 위해서 각자만의 글쓰기 방식이나 설득 전략을 고안하기 마련이다.
｢무지개의 변고로 인해 면직을 청하는 차자[因虹變乞免箚]｣에서 돋보이는 글쓰기 방식이나 설득 전략은 복선이나 암시 효과, 핵심 단어를 안배하여 논지를 강화하는 효과, 기존의 규례나 법식을 논거로 활용한 점, 감정에 호소하여 동정을 구하는 점 등이다. ｢우레의 재이로 인해 시폐를 아뢰고 겸하여 해직해 주기를 청하는 차자[因雷異陳時弊兼乞解職箚]｣에서는 우선 공감대 형성을 통한 설득 전략을 확인할 수 있었다. 설득하는 사람과 설득하려는 대상이 체험한 동일한 행위를 선제적으로 진술함으로써, 앞으로 개진할 주장이나 의견이 보다 와닿게 하는 효과를 만들었다. 다음으로는 앞의 글과 마찬가지로 핵심 단어나 개념의 안배이다. 핵심 단어를 안배하면서 점층과 연쇄를 활용하여 논리를 구성한 점은 효과적인 설득력 있는 글쓰기 방식이라 할 수 있다.
또한 글의 성격이 다르기는 하지만 재이로 인한 다른 글을 위의 두 글과 비교하여 살펴보았다. ｢겨울에 우레가 친 뒤 승정원에서 올린 계사[冬雷後政院啓辭]｣는 승정원을 대표하여 올린 陳戒인데, 위의 두 글과는 형식적으로 다소 차이를 보이지만 기본적으로 재이로 인해 신하가 군주에게 올리는 글이다. 이 글에서는 자연 현상을 군주의 인성 문제로 치환하여 비유하고 이러한 과정에서 설득 대상인 군주를 효과적으로 이해시켜 설득력을 높이고 있다.
