중학생의 성의식과 성교육 실태 분석

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study was to examine sex information by analyzing the sex consciousness and school sex education of junior high school students. These information will leading to the establishing well organized sex education and to set sex consciousness and values of middle school students. Randomly, data were collected from 2000 middle school students of Kyeong gi Do which was analysed by sex, the school year, and region. Total 1873 students replied effectively.

Referring to the survey of "The development study of sex consciousness and sex education information on middle school student" by National Youth Commission (2000), I reorganized the survey contents which 65 questions were asked and Cronbach''s α correlation was tested.

To analyse data, the frequency and the percentage was calculated by SPSS Window 10.0, statistical significant was tested differences of the results on the terms of the sex, the school year, and the region using Chi-square(χ2) were extracted. The result was as follows :

1) Middle school students'' sex consciousness and knowledge

(1) In terms of the satisfaction on the self-concept, most students satisfied about their self-concept. Also it was shown the significant difference on the term of sex, which proved the fact that Korean traditional "Boy preference ideology" still remains in Korea society.

(2) Students have low knowledge about sex(57.84%), and that boy students was little higher than girl students. Also, results showed the older students have higher information about sex, which prove sex education of school have effects.

(3) Regarding the homosexuality, most students proved to have negative thoughts. Comparing with boy students, three times of girl students said that homosexuality could be possible if they love each other. Many students have a curiosity about homosexuality which showed that sex education for girl students is necessary.

2) Current sexual behavior and experience of middle school students

(1) Half(48.7%) of students have other sex friends while girl students have more opposite sex friends than boy does. Also 30% of parents accept the opposite sex friends of their kids. The need of good sex education was much urgent because the older students show the disposition of preferring a kiss and a sexual intercourse.
(2) 61.7% of students have the experience to see the pornography, and then boy students would like to do five times more than girl students. These showed a need of sex education to correct the falsehood of the pornography.

(3) 52.4% of boy students and 8.5% of girl students have masturbated. After masturbating, most of students felt better and the other students felt guilty. Comparing to the result of other similar studies, students seem to answer frankly.

(4) In terms of kiss, caress, and sexual intercourse, the older students have much experienced than the younger students. Boy students have two times more experienced on kiss, caress, and sexual intercourse than girl students. The reason why most of students had sexual intercourse was the curiosity. Only 17.4% of students prevented conception, which shows the necessity of contraception. Especially, most of students have sexed with their opposite sex friends and that the age of student who has had sexual intercourse is getting younger. Taking this matter into consideration, we have to teach students about sexual intercourse from the elementary school.

3) Current sex counseling and education in middle school students

(1) Dating with opposite sex students was the big agony for students. Which implies that school should actively teach how to meet opposite sex students. Most students consult their problem with friends. Only 2.8% of students would like to consult with teachers.

(2) Students can get the sex information sex from school sex education. (43.8%). However older students get the information of sex from friend, video or pornography movie. Which implies systemized sex education is required.

(3) Though most of students recognize the necessity of school sex education, the present sex education was not satisfactory. So the sex education program should be improved and bettered.

(4) The reason why students were not satisfied with sex education is repeating itand old contents and that contents were too absurd. So teacher should make and develop the effective and systemized sex education information and materials for students.

(5) Presently, school sex education was focusing on pregnancy, contraception, abortion, and birth, however students would like to have the information about dating with opposite sex friends. Considering this fact, teacher should focused on sex education times and contents about proper dating manner.

(6) The facts that students would like to know was dating opposite sex friends, manners between boy and girl, sexual intercourse, masturbation, contraception, sex drive, and induced abortion. Finally in organizing the contents of school sex education those contents should be included.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 연구는 중학생의 성의식과 성교육 실태를 분석하여 청소년들의 건전한 성의식과 가치관을 확립하고 보다 체계적인 성교육이 이루어지는데 필요한 기초 자료를 제시하고자 연구에 착수하였으며, 경기도 교육청 산하 중학생 2,000명을 무선표집 방법으로 성별, 학년별, 지역별로 안배하여 설문지를 배포하였고, 총 1,873명이 유효하게 응답해 주었다.
본 연구에 사용된 측정도구는 청소년 보호위원회(2000)의 “중학생의 성의식조사 및 성교육자료집 개발 연구”의 설문지를 연구자가 연구 목적에 맞게 재구성하였으며 설문지 내용은 총 65문항이다.
자료처리는 SPSS Window 10.0 통계프로그램을 이용해 빈도(N)와 백분율(%)을 산출하여 유목간(성별/학년별/지역별) 차이를 비교하고 그 차의 의의도를 확인하기 위하여 χ2치를 산출, 검증하였으며 결과는 다음과 같다.

1) 중학생의 성의식과 성지식

(1) 중학생의 자아성 만족도에 있어서 대부분의 학생들이 만족하고 있고 성별로는 유의미한 차이를 보였는데 이는 전통적인 남아선호사상이 우리 가정과 사회에 아직까지 잔재해 있음을 입증해 준다고 하겠다.
(2) 중학생들의 성지식은 낮으며(평균 57.84%), 남학생이 여학생보다 약간 높게 나타났다. 그리고 학년이 올라갈수록 성지식 수준이 약간씩 높은 것을 보면 학교 성교육이 약간의 영향을 준 것이라고 할 수 있다.

(3) 중학생들의 동성애에 대한 인식은 대부분 부정적이나 여학생들이 남학생에 비해 사랑하면 가능하다고 응답한 학생들이 3배 이상 많았고 동성애 표현물을 보고 난 후의 느낌에 있어서도 진짜 그럴까 궁금해 한 학생들이 많은 것을 보아 여학생들에게 동성애에 대한 교육이 필요하다는 것을 제시해 준 것이라고 하겠다.

2) 중학생의 성적행동 및 경험실태

(1) 중학생들의 이성교제 비율은 48.7%이고, 여학생이 남학생보다 많으며 부모들의 30%정도가 중학생 자녀의 이성교제를 찬성하고 있다. 그리고 고학년으로 올라가면서 이성과의 키스나 성관계를 선호하는 성향이 증가하는 바, 이에 따른 올바른 성교육의 필요성도 더욱 절실하다고 하겠다.

(2) 중학생들의 61.7%가 음란물 접촉 경험이 있고 음란물 접촉 후 그대로 따라하고 싶었다는 반응이 남학생이 여학생보다 5배 이상 많이 한 것은 남학생에게 음란물의 허구성을 철저히 지도해야 할 필요성을 제시해 준 것이라고 하겠다.

(3) 자위행위를 하고 있는 중학생은 남학생이 52.4%, 여학생이 8.5%로 남학생이 여학생에 비해 5배 이상 많고, 자위행위 후의 느낌으로는 기분이 좋았다는 학생이 가장 많았으며 죄를 지은 것 같았다는 학생이 그 다음 순으로 나타났다. 이는 다른 유사연구 결과를 볼 때 응답자들이 솔직하게 응답한 것으로 추측된다.
(4) 중학생의 키스나 애무, 성경험은 학년이 올라갈수록 많은 것으로 나타났고 남학생이 여학생에 비해 배 이상 많았다. 성경험을 하게 된 이유는 호기심 때문에 하게 되었다는 학생이 가장 많았으며 성관계시 피임방법을 사용한 학생이 17.4%에 불과해 피임방법에 대한 성교육의 필요성을 제시해 준 것이라 하겠다. 특히 성경험 대상이 이성친구이고 점차 연령이 낮아지는 것을 감안할 때 성교에 관한 올바른 지도는 초등학교 고학년 때부터 철저히 이루어져야 할 것으로 보인다.

3) 중학교의 성상담 및 성교육 실태

(1) 중학생들의 성과 관련된 가장 큰 고민은 이성교제이고 여학생이 남학생보다 훨씬 높게 나타났다. 중학생들의 가장 큰 고민이 이성교제 임을 고려하여 이제 학교 교육에서 좀 더 적극적인 이성교제 지도가 이루어져야 한다고 본다. 성관련 고민은 친구와 상담하기를 원하고 있으며 교사와 상담하기 원하는 학생은 2.8%에 불과하다.

(2) 학생들의 성지식 취득원은 주로 학교 성교육(43.8%)임을 고려할 때 학교 성교육의 중요성을 다시 한 번 일깨워 주는 것이라 할 수 있다. 그러나 학년이 올라갈수록 학교 성교육을 통해 성지식을 취득하는 학생이 줄어들고 친구나 비디오 및 음란영화를 통해 성지식을 취득하는 학생이 늘어나고 있는 것을 보아 학생들의 수준에 맞는 체계적인 성교육이 이루어지지 못하고 있는 것이라 추측된다.

(3) 중학생 대부분은 학교 성교육이 반드시 필요하다고 인식하고 있으나, 현재 학교에서 이루어지는 성교육에 대해서는 대부분의 학생들이 만족하지 못하고 있는 것을 보아 학교 성교육을 개선해야 할 필요성이 있다.
(4) 학교 성교육을 만족하지 못하는 이유가 같은 내용을 반복하여 가르치거나 너무 추상적이고 알고 싶은 내용이 아니기 때문임을 고려하여 학년별로 체계적이고 구체적인 성교육 자료를 개발해야 할 필요가 있다.

(5) 현재 학교에서 이루어지는 성교육의 내용은 임신, 피임, 유산, 출산이 가장 많은 것으로 나타났 중학생이 선호하는 성교육 내용은 이성교제가 가장 높은 것을 고려해 적절한 시수와 내용의 배정이 필요하다.

(6) 중학생들이 성에 관해서 많이 알고 싶어 하는 내용은 이성교제, 이성간의 예절, 성교, 자위행위, 피임, 성충동, 인공유산 등 인바, 학교 성교육 내용 구조화시에 이들 내용이 포함되어야 할 것이다.
