‘1990년대’와 ‘2000년대’의 중·고등학생 은어의 비교 연구

국문 초록 (Abstract)

우리 사회는 하루가 다르게 변화하고 있다. 과학 기술의 발전에 따라 삶의 양식이 변하고 새로운 문화가 형성된다. 이러한 변화는 언어생활에도 큰 영향을 끼친다.
학생들의 언어는 은어로 대표되는 자신들만의 언어 형태가 존재하여 왔다. 은어는 어떤 집단이나 직업에 소속된 사람들이 은비나 유희를 목적으로 사용하는 특수어인데, 학생은어 역시 타 집단으로부터 비밀을 유지하고 또래 집단사이의 유희를 추구하는 목적으로 사용되었다.
그러나 최근의 학생은어는 예전에 쓰이던 은어와 그 기능과 모습이 변화하였다. 은어가 주로 인터넷 공간에서 사용됨에 따라 은어는 빠른 속도로 타집단에게 노출되기 때문에 학생들은 좀 더 새롭고 참신한 표현의 은어를 만들어 낸다. 비밀유지의 목적으로 은어를 사용하기보다는 타 집단을 조롱하고 자신들의 유희문화를 즐기기 위해 은어를 사용한다고 볼 수 있다.
본 논문은 1990년대의 중·고등학생들이 사용하던 은어와 최근까지 사용하는 은어의 유형, 특징을 분석하고 비교 연구 하였다.
그리고 학생은어의 사용 심리의 변화와 은어사용의 긍정적인 면과 부정적인 면을 살펴보고 올바른 언어지도방안을 모색하였다.
은어의 내용적 측면으로 ‘학교 생활에 관련된 은어, 사람의 외모나 속성에 관련된 은어, 성과 이성 교제에 관련된 은어, 동작이나 상태를 표현하는 은어, 비행이나 유흥에 관련된 은어’로 분류하여 시대별 유형과 특징을 살펴보았다.
내용상의 특징으로는 1990년대와 2000년대에 공통적으로 외모에 관련된 은어가 높은 빈도수를 보였다. 특히 부정적인 의미의 은어로 상대를 조롱하고 놀리는 성격의 은어가 많았는데, 은어의 유희적 성격이 작용한 것으로 볼 수 있다.
90년대에 성에 관련된 은어가 많이 사용되었는데 이는 범죄 집단의 은어에서 유입되어 변형된 형태가 많았다.
2000년대에는 이러한 은어가 이어져 사용되는데, 구체적으로 나타나지만 비속어적인 표현이 정화되어 나타나는 경향을 보였다.
학생들의 은어사용 공간이 학교나 방과 후의 놀이 장소에서 인터넷 공간으로 이동하면서 은비성을 추구하기보다는 흥미나 재미를 추구하는 은어 사용 경향을 보였다.
은어의 형태적 측면으로 ‘단축 생략형의 은어, 계열을 형성하는 은어, 구절 및 문장형의 은어’로 분류하여 유형과 특징을 분석하였다.
90년대에 비유적이고 반어적인 형태의 약어가 많이 사용된 반면 2000년대에는 은어 형성의 단순화 현상이 두드러져 단순 단축형의 은어가 많이 나타났다.
그리고 학생들은 통신공간을 통한 은어의 노출이 빈번하여 새로운 은어를 계속해서 만들어냈는데, 은어 생성이 용이한, 계열을 형성하는 은어를 만드는 경향을 보였다.
최근의 학생은어의 사용계층은 광범위해져서, 중·고등학생 뿐 아니라 초등학생들까지도 은어를 사용하고 있다.
은어는 사용하는 집단간의 공감대를 형성하여 관계를 돈독하게 해주고, 자신들이 공유할 수 있는 새로운 문화를 형성하는 등의 긍정적인 면을 지닌다. 그러나 방송 매체에서 상업적인 목적으로 사용되는 어원을 알 수 없는 방송언어와 통신 공간의 익명성으로 인해 무분별하게 생겨난 비속어적인 은어는 학생언어생활에 혼란을 야기 시킨다.
청소년기의 언어는 평생의 언어생활을 지배하기 때문에 학생들이 건전하고 바른 언어생활을 할 수 있도록 지도하는 것이 중요하다.
본 논문에서는 최근의 은어 사용 실태를 분석하고 특징을 파악함으로써 올바른 언어 지도의 참고 자료로 활용할 수 있도록 하였다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

Our society is changing very rapidly. As the scientific technology advanced, a style of living become varied and new cultures have arisen. These variations affect the language life. The students have had their own jargon that was representative of their language form.
The jargon is a kind of special word to get some amusements among the same group or fields of work, and students also use it to keep their secrets and pursue enjoyment in the students of that age. But, the recent jargon is changing in the aspect of the function and feature compared to the former days. As the jargon is being used in the internet and spreads out at too fast pace, the students try to make new and more creative words. It means that they regard the secret language as a way of laughing at other groups and enjoy their own culture, not keeping their secrets.
This thesis was researched for the pattern and character of the jargon that the students have used in 1990's and recent years using a comparative study and it can be searched for the proper method of language habits looking into the bright side and dark side of the jargon use and finding out the mentality change.
In the aspect of the contents, it can be classified into small groups related to the school life, appearance or personality, sex and relationship, movement or statement, wrongdoing and pleasure.
The main thing is that they used the jargon about appearance a lot in 1990's and 2000's in common. Especially, there were many kinds of negative words to make fun of other people. It means that they interacted with the play instinct of the jargon.
In 1990's, the jargon about sex was used in bulk flowing from crime network. In 2000's, that kind of secret language was still spoken, but purified little by little.
As the space for the jargon moves from the playground to the internet, the jargon has a tendency to show their interest or pleasure more than concealment.
In the aspect of the formation, it can be analyzed into several groups related to a shortened form, systematization, passage and sentence.
In 1990's, metaphorical and ironical words were used a lot, but in 2000's, the simple shortened form words became popular with teenagers, and the internet exposes the students to the frequent use of the secret language easily, so it inclines toward the easy and ordered one. Recently, the level of the user covers a wide range, so not only the middle and high school students but also the elementary school students use a jargon.
The jargon makes the same group have some chemistry and friendly relationship, and it has a bright side to form a new culture. However, it leads to confusion in linguistic life because there is a flood of broadcasting language which had a obscure origin and vulgar expressions that were generated by anonymity.
It is very important for the teachers to give lessons in proper language life to the students because the lifelong language habits can be controlled by the language in adolescence.
This thesis can be applied to the reference materials as a guideline for the reasonable language by analyzing the recent jargon.
