『譯語類解』수록된 어업 관련 어휘의 특징에 대한 소고(小考) = Some reflections on the nature of fisheries-related vocabulary in "Yeogeo Yuhae(譯語類解)"

국문 초록 (Abstract)

조선시대 사역원(司譯院)에서 편찬한 여러 교재와 어휘집 또는 사전중 1690년에 간행된 중국어 어휘집인『譯語類解』는 상하 2권에 총 62개 부류와 4,685개의 어휘를 수록하고 있으며, 간행 이후 이른바 ‘유해류’ 역학서의 모델이 되었으며 현대에도 어휘와 음운 측면에서 다양한 연구가 진행되었다. 본고는『譯語類解』의 ‘田漁(佃漁)’部에 속한 사냥과 어로 관련 어휘를 중심으로 어업 활동과 관련된 어구에 대한 범주화와 배열 규칙을 파악하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위해 ‘田漁(佃漁)’部를 중심으로 어업 활동과 관련된 어휘 부류의 특성과 배열, 수록 어휘의 의미를 분석하고 어구 간 관계를 검토하였다. 연구 대상은『譯語類解』와『譯語類解補』의 ‘田漁(佃漁)’部 및 ‘水族’部를 포함하였으며, 『譯語類解』와 『譯語類解補』에 수록된 어업 관련 어휘장의 배열 원칙과 어휘장 내부의 어휘 의미 관계를 파악하는 두 가지 단계로 연구를 진행하였다. 이로부터 3장에서는 『譯語類解』의 부류 간의 연관성을 살펴보았다. 『譯語類解』의 어휘 부류 간 연관성은 부류에 따라 명확한 정도가 다른데, 이는 편찬자의 의도와 관련지어 유연한 관계망으로 해석할 필요가 있다. 본 연구는 현대 중국어 동의어 분류 사전 『同義詞詞林』을 참고하여『譯語類解』의 부류 간 관계와 연관성을 분석하고자 하였다. 『同義詞詞林』은 전형적인 위계 관계 모델을 채택하고 있으므로 가까이 배열된 부류 간의 관계는 명확하지만 멀리 있는 부류 간의 관계는 파악하기 어렵다. 이에 착안하여『譯語類解』의 배열은 부류 간의 상대적 거리와 연상적 상호작용을 고려한 어휘망 모델로 해석할 수 있음을 주장하였다. 4장에서는『譯語類解』에 수록된 어업 관련 어휘의 구성 체계와 의미 관계를 고찰하였다. 어업 관련 어휘는 “田漁(佃漁)” 部와 “水族” 部 두 부류를 분석 대상으로 하며, 이 두 부류의 어휘 내부 체계를 확인하여 당시 어업에 대한 이해와 어휘 인식을 밝히고자 하였다. 또한 수록 어휘의 의미 관계를 조사하며 어구 간의 의미 관계를 살펴보았다. 본고는 이러한 방법론을 통해『譯語類解』 어업 관련 어휘의 어휘 부류가 전체 어휘 부류의 분류 체계에서 이웃하는 어휘 부류와 어떤 관계를 가지는지 살펴보고, 또한 어휘 부류 내부의 어구 간 의미 관계를 통해 어휘 부류 내 어휘장의 양상을 살펴보았다. 그 결과 어휘장 내부의 어구 간 관계는 계열적 관계를 넘어 더 유연하고 다양한 관계에 의해 형성되었음을 알 수 있었다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The aim of this study is to determine the categorization and arrangement principles for fishing activities and related words and phrases, specifically examining the lexemes related to hunting and fishing in the "田漁" section of the Yeogeo Yuhae(『譯語類解』) and Yeogeo Yuhaebo『譯語類解補』. Our analysis considers the characteristics and arrangement of lexical categories related to fishing activities, concentrating on the "田漁" section, as well as the meaning of the lexemes included and their relationship to one another. The study comprised the "田漁" and "水族" sections of the Yeogeo Yuhae(『譯語類解』) and its supplement. The methodology involved two stages: identification of the arrangement principles for fishery-related lexicons in the Translation and Explanation and the lexical semantic correlation within the lexicon. Furthermore, Chapter 3 investigated the associations among the categories presented in the Translation Dictionary. The connections among the lexical categories in the translation lexicon differ in their level of clarity, depending on the category. It is important to interpret this as a flexible network of relationships that are related to the compiler's intentions. This study aims to analyze the relationships and connections among the categories of the Translated Language Classification. We will refer to the Modern Chinese Synonymy Dictionary(Tongyici Cilin(『同義詞詞林』)) to do so.
Chapter 4 analyzes the organization and semantic relations of vocabulary related to fisheries found in the Yeogeo Yuhae(『譯語類解』). The study focuses on two categories of fishery-related vocabulary: "田漁" and "水族" while examining the internal structure of these categories to reveal the understanding and lexical awareness of fisheries during that time. Furthermore, the research investigates the semantic relationships between the lexemes in the dictionary. This paper analyzes the relationship between fishery-related vocabulary in the Yeogeo Yuhae(『譯語類解』) and neighboring lexical categories within the overall classification system. Additionally, it explores the aspects of the lexical field within this category through examining semantic relations between phrases. The study results indicate that the relationships between phrases in the lexical field comprise of more versatile and varied connections beyond family associations.
