The purpose of this study lies in finding out the effect of integrated traditional music activities using nursery song on self-regulation and self-expression. For the achievement of the purpose, this study held out the questions of study as below.
1. What kind of effect does integrated traditional music activities using nursery song on self-regulation have?
2. What kind of effect does integrated traditional music activities using nursery song on self-expression have?
The following are some processes for verification of this study.
First, an adaptation self-regulation rating scale by Kim Jia(2002) and Lee Soogi(2005) was used as the study tool instead of original SRRS self-regulation
Second, the tool of kid's self-expression scale was used reconstruction self-expression scale. This tool has been modified orignal self-expression scale that is developed by Rakos and Schroeder(1979) for our cultural background by Byun Chang-Jin, Kim Sung-Hee(1980)
Third, The integrated traditional Korean music activities using nursery song used in this study has been formed by related publications and verified validity of its contents from related experts.
The subjects of this study were 15 children for age five, 30 children for age six, all of 45 children is from H kindergarten at G city in Kyung Sang Book Do province.
Before the experiment, groups were classified according to age as experiment and comparison group. Those two groups took pre-test separately for a week, preliminary lesson a week, experiment conducting for 6 weeks, a post-test a week each, from March 2 through April 30, 2010, with approaching an experimental study and qualitative study. The whole collected data were conversed and then conducted by SPSS 12.0 statistical program.
In order to analyse on characteristics for participants, gain the frequency, percentage, average, standard deviation, and calculated Crobach's alpha coefficient for verification of reliability. Also in order to measure experimental effect, conducted t-test all of 15 children for age five, 30 children for age six as experiment and comparison group.
In order to secure reliability of recording data and observation data for qualitative study, search the reliability between each participant, and suggest tendency of the effect of Integrated Traditional Korean music activities using Nursery Song on self-regulation and self-expression through the analysis for data of activity list.
The following are the result of this study
First, the group of Integrated traditional music activities using nursery song improved more self-control of emotion than the control group and also have improvement its subordinate as self-control, reduce of impulsiveness, attention concentration.
Second, the group of Integrated traditional music activities using nursery song improved more self-expression of emotion than control group and also have improvement of 'The evaluation contained self-expression factor of contents used verbal', 'The evaluation contained self-expression factor of voice', 'The evaluation contained self-expression factor of nonverbal' (physical self-expression) of its subordinate.
In conclusion, the integrated Traditional Korean music activities using Nursery Song is important and positive educational activities and this will improve self-regulation, self-expression which regard as very importance for infancy.
