범죄자에 대한 대학생들의 고정관념 = Criminal Stereotypes of Undergraduate Students in Korea

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 범죄와 범죄자에 대한 대학생들의 인식을 알아보고 공식 범죄 통계인 범죄백서의 내용과 비교하여 범죄 및 범죄자에 대한 고정 관념적 내용을 파악하고자 하였다. 수도권 및 충청권 대학생들을 대상으로 범죄에 대한 일반적인 인식, 범죄자의 특성에 대한 인식, 범죄자의 성향, 그리고 범죄자의 유년 시절 등에 대한 내용들로 구성된 설문을 실시하였다. 연구 결과 범죄 및 범죄자에 대한 인식은 외국에서의 연구 결과와 비슷하였으며 많은 부분에 있어 공식 범죄 통계와는 차이가 있는 것으로 나타나 대학생들은 범죄나 범죄자들에 대해 왜곡된 인식을 가지고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 연구 결과를 토대로 형사사법절차에서 범죄나 범죄자에 대한 왜곡된 인식이 초래할 수 있는 부정적인 영향에 대해 논의하였다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The present study examined perception of crime and criminals and compared the results with National Crime Statistics in order to explore and identify the content of criminal stereotypes in Korea. A survey was distributed to and answered by undergraduate students on the following categories of questions: general perception of crime, characteristics of criminals, perception of criminals, and childhood of criminals. The study results indicated that a number of differences were found between the content of participants' general perceptions of crime and criminals and National Crime Statistics. Implications of the current study for criminal justice procedures were discussed.
