푸코의 칸트 『인간학』 독해의 양면성 = The Duality of Foucault's Reading of Kant's Anthropology

국문 초록 (Abstract)

푸코의 『칸트의 『인간학』 서설』(1961)은 『말과 사물』(1966)로 이어지는 인간학적사유에 대한 비판적 검토와 더불어, 후기의 계몽 개념 재해석을 예비하는 요소들을 동시에 품고 있다. 전자의 맥락에서 이 텍스트는 경험적인 것과 초월적인 것, 인간학과비판철학의 관계를 중심으로 경험적-초월적 이중체로서의 인간 형상의 출현을 비판적으로 분석한다. 반면 후자의 맥락에서는 ‘사용’이라는 문제계, 세계와 세계시민이라는연구 대상과 층위, 세계의 언어적 성격 등 「계몽이란 무엇인가?」를 예시(豫示)하는 요소들이 발견된다. 말하자면 『칸트의 『인간학』 서설』은 칸트 철학과 푸코의 칸트 해석의 중심에 있는 두 근본 물음인 ‘인간이란 무엇인가?’와 ‘계몽이란 무엇인가?’의 공존과 긴장, 그리고 (‘인간의 죽음’이라는 매개를 통한) 전자에서 후자로의 이행의 단초를 보여주는 텍스트다. 이 글의 목표는 저 상반되는 맥락들을 살핌으로써 푸코의 초기 칸트 독해의 양면성을 드러내고, 더불어 이 초기 연구에서 이후 작업들로 이어지는 잠재적인 선(線)을 확인하는 것이다.

Foucault's Introduction à l'Anthropologie de Kant(1961) encapsulates a critical examination of anthropological thought, which later evolves in Les mots et les choses(1966), while also laying the groundwork for his reinterpretation of the concept of Enlightenment in his later works.
In the former context, this text critically analyzes the emergence of the human figure as an empirical-transcendental doublet, focusing on the relationship between the empirical and the transcendental, and between anthropology and critical philosophy. Conversely, in the latter context, elements that prefigure "What is Enlightenment?" can be identified, such as the problematic of 'use', the subject of world and cosmopolitanism, and the linguistic nature of the world. In other words, Introduction à l'Anthropologie de Kant is a text that showcases the coexistence and tension of the two fundamental questions of Kantian philosophy that lie at the heart of Foucault's interpretation of Kant: 'What is man?' and 'What is Enlightenment?', and it suggests a transition from the former to the latter (mediated by the 'death of man'). The goal of this paper is to reveal the dual aspects of Foucault's early reading of Kant by examining these conflicting contexts, and to identify the potential lines that connect this early research to his subsequent works.
