This paper presents the order of the Korean language terminative endings which foreign beginners should learn first.
Since all Korean sentences end with terminative endings, grammatically terminative endings should be taught first. But it is very difficult for foreign beginners to learn terminative endings, because there are many terminative endings and they vary according to the sentence types and situations.
Due to such circumstances, there is a need to create a more effective order of teaching and learning terminative endings that will make it easy for foreigners to learn Korean language.
In this paper, the author has systematically classified terminative endings according to written and spoken language. Spoken Language was further classified into formal and informal, intimate and honorific language.
Based on the above classification, a more effective order of teaching and learning terminative endings was determined.
In this study, the author hopes to contribute to the field of Korean Language education for foreigners in the preparation of teaching-learning materials and activities.
