The purpose of this thesis is to examine the effects of self-instructional strategy training in the area of social ski 11 for mentally retarded students.
In the self-instructional training Brown's(1978, 1987) model was modified and used for this study.
The subjects of the study were 30 students of special school located in Sungnam, Kyongki-Do.
They were classified into two groups ; experment group and control group.
The research questions were as follows :
1) Is self-instructional method more effestive than didactic method for the improvement of social skills of mentally retarded students?
2) Is self-instructional training more effecttive than didactic instructional in the generalization of st rategy training?
The results were analyzed SPSS/PC+ program and sumnerized as follows.
1) Self-instructional training was more effective than didactic instructional to social skills.
2) Self-instructional method was more effective to the generalization of strategy training than didactic method.
