The goalofthisresearch isto explore the valuesand rolesforestablishing the research at Korean society ceramic arts based on changing perspectives on knowledge caused by paradigmatic shifts.In Korea,『the journalofthe Korean society ceramic arts』is the only professionalresearch journalin ceramicartsfield.So specificissuesofvaluesand identityto be explored forceramicresearch emerge from the fundamentalquestion:How doesresearch relatetolifeofcontemporary?Tointernalizethequestionandtoconcretizetheanswersinthe lifeofcontemporary,thecontentsofceramicresearchmustbehistorical,critical,andproductive andincluderichexperiencesandcognitiveelementsofceramicfield.
The mostsalientchange in the research caused bythe paradigmaticshiftinvolved the next question:Whatisthelegitimatesourceofknowledge?Ingeneral,mostpeopleareconditioned byknowledgeasproposedbywrittenlanguage.Inotherwords,ourunderstandingofknowledge ispredominantlyliterary.Theadventoftheknowledge-basedsociety,however,hastoldusthat unwrittenrealmsaremorecreative.Therefore,interestincognitionofnon-literaryrealmsrather thantheliteraryrealm ofintelligencehasincreased.Atthispoint,theroleof『thejournalofthe Koreansocietyceramicarts』isexploreandcreateknowledgeinceramicfield.
Essentially,ceramicfieldislargelycharacterizedbyanalogrepresentationoftheworldaspects and isformed byindividualmedia experience thatisshaped byhistoricity.Forthesurvivalof ceramicsocietyintoday’sworldasacompetitivefield,effortsforresearchshouldbemadeto transform privateexperiencesintopubliconesandthevalueofthefieldfrom theperspectiveof itsrole in thesocialcontextshould be established.From thisperspective,research should be recognized as a dialecticalprocess through which individualexperience are expanded by cognitivegrowthandexpansionofknowledge.
To consolidate ceramic research atKorea,members ofKorea ceramic society in charge of shouldrenew theircommitmentandenthusiasm andtheexpansionofcommunitycommunication and knowledge to build the infrastructure ofknowledge,active participation ofmembersisan indispensible precondition.Ultimately,research isa linkage between experience and knowledge ofmembersandcommunitycommunicationthatimproveshumanqualityofhumanlife.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구의 목적은 패러다임 이동에 따른 지식에 대한 인식의 변화를 근거로 한국도자학연구의 가치와 역할을 탐색하는 것이다.『한국 도자학 연구』는 한국에서 유일한 도자전문 학술지이다.그러므로 연구를 통하여 구체적으로 탐구되어야 할 가치와 정체성은 도자학 연구들이현대의 삶과 어떻게 연결되는가에 대한 본질적인 물음에서 출발한다.또한 이러한 물음을 내면화하고 구체화되기 위하여 도자연구에 역사적,비판적,생산적인 면이 포함되어야 하며,도자영역의 풍부한 경험과 인지적 요인들이 지식으로 생성되어야 한다.
연구의 패러다임에서 가져온 가장 두드러진 변화의 동인은 ‘무엇이 지식의 합법적인 원천인가’에 대한 것이었다.일반적으로 거의 모든 이들은 지식은 오직 글로만 제시되는 것으로 조건화되어 있다.즉 지식에 대한 개념은 문자적이다.그러나 지식기반사회의 도래로 인하여 문자화되지 않은 영역들이 더욱 창의적이라는 사실이 드러남에 따라,지능과 연결된 문자적인입장에서의 인지가 아닌 비문자적인 영역의 인지에 대한 관심들이 늘어나고 있다.바로 이러한 지식의 발굴과 창조가 도자학 연구의 역할이다.
도자영역은 본질적으로 아날로그적 측면이 우세하며 역사성을 지닌 매체에 대한 개인의 경험을 근간으로 형성된다는 특성을 지니고 있다.오늘날 도자가 경쟁력 있는 분야로 생존하기위해서는 사적인 경험과 지식들을 공적으로 전환하고자 하는 학문적인 노력과 함께 사회적인맥락에서의 역할에 대한 가치가 정립되어야 한다.이러한 측면에서 연구는 개인적인 경험을인지와 지식확장으로 넓혀가는 변증적 과정으로 인식되어야 한다.
이러한 방향으로 한국의 도자학연구의 방향을 정립하기 위해서는 도자학회를 담당하고 있는회원들의 열정과 노력이 선행되어야 한다.한국의 도자학연구에서 지식에 대한 인프라를 구축하기 위한 공동체의 소통과 지식확장은 회원들의 적극적인 참여를 전제로 하기 때문이다.결국 연구란 회원들과 사회의 경험과 지식을 연결시키고 삶의 질을 향상시키고자 하는 공동체의 소통을 위한 것이라 할 수 있다.
