RIA 기반의 웹 인터페이스 연구 : WTDS 개발 사례를 중심으로 = (The) Study of Web Interface Based on RIA : Focusing on the Cases of Developing WTDS

국문 초록 (Abstract)

인간 커뮤니케이션에 있어서 정보 전달 매체의 발전은 기술적 맥락에서뿐 아니라 인간의 가치 체계에 영향을 미치는 사회, 문화적 맥락에서도 중요한 의미를 갖는다. 이는 정보 형태의 복합 커뮤니케이션, 쌍방향 커뮤니케이션, 기억 및 축적 커뮤니케이션이 모두 하나의 체계로 포괄된다는 의미로, 이러한 체계는 인간의 두뇌와 오감을 결합하는 인간 정보 전달 체계에 가장 근접한 것이다.
특히 디지털 정보 전달 매체의 중심에 서 있는 웹 어플리케이션은 시간, 공간적 커뮤니케이션 채널을 이 체계에 추가하여, 인간의 오감으로 체험할 수 있는 감각 영역을 확장하고 본래의 인간 커뮤니케이션에 보다 근접한 형태를 가능케 한다.
그러나 현재까지의 웹 환경은 페이지 단위 구성의 단순함과 컨텐츠 수용의 한계, 그리고 데이터 패턴을 탐지하고 인터페이스를 통해 시각화 하는 기능의 제한성으로 말미암아 인터페이스 상의 시각적 표현력을 저하하고 데이터 사용의 최적화 또한 이루지 못한다. 뿐만 아니라 HTML의 대화식 기능(Interactive)이 갖고 있는 한계로 인하여 다단계, 다중 옵션 작업, 또는 상호 작용에 대한 요구를 수용하기 어렵다. 그럼에도 불구하고 이러한 비 지능적인 클라이언트 모델 구조가 갖는 단점들로 말미암아 갈수록 복잡하게 변화하는 비즈니스 환경을 반영하고 사용자의 다양한 니즈를 충족시킬 인터넷 어플리케이션의 필요성은 날로 증대되고 있다.
이러한 시장 환경을 배경으로 필자는 본 논문을 통해 S사의 통합 물류 관리 시스템인 WTDS(Worldwide Tracking Display System) 개발 사례를 중심으로 RIA(Rich Internet Applicationss)에 기반한 웹 어플리케이션에 대한 연구를 함으로서 현재의 웹 어플리케이션이 갖고 있는 한계를 극복하고자 한다. 또한 더 나아가 보다 인간 커뮤니케이션에 근접한 정보 전달 인터페이스를 제안하고 이를 통해 인터넷 어플리케이션 경험의 근본적인 변화 가능성을 제공하는데 목적을 두었다.
본 연구는 웹 환경 하의 그래픽 유저 인터페이스(GUI) 디자인의 범주에서 기존의 웹 어플리케이션 기술이 갖는 평면적인 표현과 순차적인 프로세스를 탈피하고 이를 통해 직관성을 지닌 사용자의 편의성 증대, 그리고 다이나믹 하면서도 실시간 데이터를 활용 가능케 하는 웹 어플리케이션의 인터페이스 구축에 중점을 두었다.
연구의 주요 대상은 웹 어플리케이션이다. 연구의 범위는 웹 어플리케이션에 관련된 요인들, 정보 전달 체계와 디자인 인터페이스 요소들을 추출하여 이를 통해 키 프레임 단위의 디자인 프로토타입(Prototype)을 제시하고 워킹 모델을 개발하는 것으로 제한한다. 연구 방법은 실제 WTDS 개발 사례를 중심으로 이루어지며 디자인 인터페이스 또한 실제 제품을 통해 구현된다.
본 논문은 다음과 같은 연구 절차를 거쳤다.
1. 미디어의 발전에 따른 정보 형태의 변화 및 정보 전달 형태의 통합
2. 웹 환경에서의 인터페이스 구성 요소 분석
3. RIA의 이해 및 디자인의 중요성
4. RIA 기반의 WTDS 개발 요소 분석 및 설계
5. RIA 기반의 WTDS 인터페이스 구현
6. 프로토타입에 대한 사용성 평가 및 결과
본 연구는 웹 환경에서의 RIA 기반 인터페이스 구축 실례를 상세히 보여준다. 다시 말해, 정보 전달 체계의 유기적 구조와 데이터베이스와의 연동, 그리고 실제 디자인 인터페이스의 적용을 통하여 HTML 기반의 웹 어플리케이션이 갖는 한계점을 보다 실제적으로 파악하고 한 걸음 더 나아가 RIA 기반의 웹 어플리케이션과 이를 비교하여 보다 사용자의 니즈에 부응하는 웹 어플리케이션과 더불어 웹 유저 인터페이스의 새로운 패러다임을 제시하였다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

In terms of human communication, the development of information media has very important meaning not only in the context of technology but also social cultural context which influences the human value system strongly. This means that one unique system can include complex, interactive, and memorial and accumulative communication of information. This kind of information system can be one of the most similar to that of human being which links up his or her brain to the five senses.
Especially, the web Applications which stands in the center of the field of digital information media adds the channel which enables the spatial temporal communication to this system, and makes it closer to the original human communication system by extending his or her sensual area which is limited to the five senses.
But the current web environment up to now deteriorates the degree of visual expressivity on the interface and cannot optimize the usage of data due to the simplicity of composition of web pages, the limit of contents inclusion, and the restraint of ability which perceives data patterns and which visualizes the objects through interface. Also, it is quite difficult to satisfy the user's needs of multi-level, multi-optional operations, or/and, interaction because of insufficient interactive ability of HTML. However, owing to the above mentioned demerits of this non intelligent client models, the necessity of a new internet Applications is getting bigger and more remarkable to satisfy user's diverse needs and to reflect the business environment which is changing so rapidly.
With this kind of inferior market situation, I will make a proposal to overcome the before mentioned limitations of current web Applicationss through researching the Web Applications based on Rich Internet Applications, focusing on the cases of developing Worldwide Tracking Display System, the administration of physical distribution system of S company. Furthermore, I will suggest an information interface which is more similar to human communication system and intend to present the possibility to change the human experience in internet Applications essentially.
Emphasis of this study is placed on breaking away from the planar expressivity and the sequential process of the existing web Applications technology within a category of Graphic User Interface Design in Web environment, enlarging user's convenience, and building web Applications interface which enables to make good use of the real time data even dynamically.
The main object of this thesis is web Applicationss. Its boundary is to pick up the factors concerned with web Applicationss, information system, and design interface in order to suggest design Prototype shown in key frames and develop a working model. Its method is to analyze the actual case of developing WTDS. And the design interface is presented as a real product.
The procedures are as follows:
1. The formal change of information and the integration of information systems according to the development of media
2. Analysis of elements of interface in web environment
3. Understanding of RIA and importance of design
4. Analysis of factors in developing WTDS based on RIA and its planning
5. Realization of WTDS interface based on RIA
6. Result and Evaluation of availableness of the prototype
This study will show the real case of building interface based on RIA in web environment. In other words, it will present the organic structure of information system and its linkage with database. Also the limit of the current web Applications based on HTML will be proven effectively through applying the actual design interface to the study and even its comparison with web Applications based on RIA will be given on the purpose of presenting a new paradigm of web user interface and satisfying user's variable needs.
