중학생의 직업흥미와 학업성취도 및 진로성숙도와의 관계 = The Relationship between Vocational Interest, Academic Achievement, and Career Maturity Inventory in the Middle School Students

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between vocational interest, academic achievement, and career maturity of middle school students in Gumi, Gyeongsangbuk-do, and to identify the influence of each of vocational interest, academic achievements, and career maturity on the others.
The hypotheses of this study are as follows;
1. Vocational interest and academic achievement would be correlated．
2. Vocational interest and career maturity would be correlated．
3. Academic achievement and career maturity would be correlated．
Subjects in this study were composed of 230 students randomly selected from two middle schools in Gumi city, Gyeongsangbuk-do, and eventually 223 students, including 134 male and 89 female, were analyzed, except seven owing to the incompleteness of their answer sheets.
The measurement tools for this study were employed as follows;
1. Vocational Interest Test for adolescents(2001) developed by the Ministry of Labor Central Employment Information Center's to measure vocational interest.
2. The academic achievements test supervised by Gyeongsangbuk-do Office of Education in Sep. 2004. The selected subject matters were Korean, Social Studies, Math, Natural Science, and English.
3. Career Maturity Inventory developed by Korea Research Institute for Vocational Education and Training's to measure career maturity.
The results of this study are as follows;
First, vocational interest and academic achievement were positively correlated. The investigative and enterprising types of vocational interest had a significant positive correlation with academic achievement. The investigative and realistic types of vocational interest were predictive of academic achievement.
Second, vocational interest and career maturity were positively correlated. The investigative, artistic, social, enterprising, and conventional types of vocational interest had a significant positive correlation with career maturity. The enterprising, realistic, and investigative types of vocational interest were predictive of career maturity.
Third, academic achievement and career maturity were positively correlated. Korean, Social Studies, Natural Science, and English in academic achievement had a significant positive correlation with career maturity. The attitude of career maturity had a significant positive correlation with carer maturity. The attitude of career maturity was predictive of academic achievement. English in academic achievement was predictive of career maturity.
